idk, doesn't seem that restrictive, either you go physics or maths and inside that you can choose a lot of different specializations, I guess hypothetically I could move from physics to math or the other way around but so much lost time, fuck that. I'm like so undecided right now, I'm not even slightly leaning towards either physics or math. Sigh.

let me ask you this. are you more interested in puzzles or the world.

if puzzles interest you more than the world, go math.

Consider Euler's identity:

If your first reaction is "that's beautiful", go math. If instead you think "what is this useful for?", go physics.

He should go to maths then, what with catgirls not mixing well with real life physics and such.

Holy shit the weather here today is all kinds of fucked up.
18 degrees and broke records, going down below zero tonight. Pouring rain and now destructive winds blowing over trees and shit.
Can't link my double rainbow picture for some reason. Oh well.

Also random tangent: anyone remember Lemmings?

But in all seriousness Scip, career goals change. Feel free to talk to me on TS later tonight about this if you need help deciding.

Also do Physics. It's likely to be 1000x more interesting.

Why not engineering?

I guess it also has to do with job market in Czech, of which I have no idea about. Getting a job is the most important part of the degree, unless you're a trust fund baby, in that case do Liberal Arts.

I disagree. It's just how it is.

Besides, it's just a special case.

IMHO scip, do math since math is most of the time heavier on learning time than scientific method and applied formulas.
At least that's what it seems like when I look at people studying math.
Nothing is impossible, only some things for some people.

Physics as a science largely is not that practical at this point.

That's engineering for the most part.

I'd offer more advice but really it's hard to say without an idea of how higher education in the Czech Republic differs from the US.

yeah but engineering is so boring, its just about learning to do stuff everyone else figured out and then if you are a few select fields with multiple degrees then maybe you get to advance the world a little.

Just remember to make sure all of your drawings match, don't make Civil and Architectural different, because as a tech, that makes our jobs harder.

I mean, depending on your definition of "advance the world", that's not really the purpose of engineering. Its less about discovery and more about problem solving/design.

The problem is that the reality of pure science in the modern day is that very few scientists "advance the world" in any significant way either. You have to be insanely lucky or a genius to be one of the handful of scientists in each generation that actually produces something meaningful. Otherwise you end up one of the hundreds of scientists publishing papers to get grant money for projects they know won't go anywhere just to get by.
