That isn't a sport. It is a sports anime. Just because it's not based on a real sports doesn't mean it isn't a sports anime when it follows the sports anime formula.

It's pretty much closer to reality than certain sports anime like Eyeshield 21.

Apart from the fact that concussions and stunts would have most likely killed the crews in remotely real circumstances. ![]()

The games are fundamentally identical, people often prefer the Store to FFT because it's actually relevant.

Better story, laws, somewhat better class balance (even though both are quite imbalanced if you really get down to it, FFTA has more fluff classes that are more or less useless, plus the entire Bangaa and Nu Mou races being essentially worthless by comparison to the other 3). Some people also felt that the weapon ability learning system is poorly implemented since it forces you to hold onto shit weapons and encourages grinding because you have to use said below-par weapons to get basic abilities even on high-level characters. But that's much more up to opinion. EDIT: Also, if you're not playing multiplayer, FFTA is a significantly easier game, and that's saying a lot given that FFT was already not a difficult game.

![]() Iirc the fact that Cid is alcoholic and jobless was dumbed down in the US version of the game? Also Yango FFT has no laws (does War of the Lion have them?). It feels less grindy and the progression is better because although it takes more time to learn a given ability (usually), you can choose them. Some abilities in FFTA can't be acquired save for specific circumstances (if you don't level your main character as both a thief and a tank/duelist, or generally bring him the angel accessory, in time for the Viera god, you'll miss an item that uniquely teaches ability; the other copy of which only becomes accessible in the post-game) so customisation can be frustrating. A lot of reaction abilities are useless (the one that nulls normal attacks is overpowered against most standard enemies because they never have any abilities, but they get useless because they don't work on ability attacks; which also means that the abilities which effects says "bypasses reaction techniques" are useless since these classes have other abilities that will do that, unless you're for example fighting someone with counterattack or the one that gives "life 3" upon falling low on HP), the combo system is very strong but isn't accessible to the enemy...

FFT is better for not having them, and FFTA is much more enjoyable with the no-Laws romhack (but that also makes the game even easier). EDIT: Also, Marche should more or less be leveled as straight Ninja, just like every other human. Steal: Ability is available very early on in the game and should be the default way to get most abilities for a Moogle or Human.
