WoD content will be 90+ , so why not already be prepare for it? I also wanted a chance to do the end game raids which would have taken me forever to from level 1. Then youre missing out on alot and youre going to be a detriment to your raid group later. Leveling is so you can familiarize yourself with the class, get rotations down and shit like that. Besides if you havent done it once youre missing like.. a shitload of the game Yeah, leveling means shit for rotations when you have to fill in "useless" abilities since you don't have the things out need yet. Will still be beneficial for you learning your class. Its not like rotations are overly complicated in the first place. I always looked up the basic rotation and began implementing the parts of it i could as soon as i got the ability, then when i had the full rotation i'd practice it at every opportunity that helped me quite a bit when i was raiding. The problem with rotations is before they actually get hard they become a hassle to actually do. Mists Marksman was fucking awful.

Aion-You mean the Korean grind mmo didn't do well in the West? How surprising and new.. Rift-It's doing okay TOR-Mismanaged GW2-Doing fine last time I checked Warhammer Online- Mismanaged so poorly that it survived as long as it did is a testament to dev love of the project. Tabula Rasa- Ahead of it's time to be honest. Terra-See Aion
When at first mention of a game you go on a tirade listing off how it will fail like every other mmo that isn't WoW.(whatever definition of fail you want to go with because hey I'm fairly certain the folks in GW2 would find your definition of failure hilariously misinformed) That is strait up by the definition of the word pessimism.

TOR is doing pretty well now, actually. Also, people that act like WoW isn't in decline are fooling themselves.

I believe there are a lot of recent changes to GW2 that are frankly concerning. Level gating skill sets is really weird for gw2, and creating new characters shouldn't feel that constricting.
Speaking of, are you really happy with the direction GW2 is going right now? It seems really backwards.

I wouldn't recommend a documentary when the person is asking for a movie. Documentaries are generally not as lighthearted.

jk, feeling mindless action - haven't ever watched Kill Bill, so that one wins

I've enjoyed popping into GW2 for quite awhile. I can't speak for anything but the leveling, since I haven't hit max level on any of my toons, but the changes to the leveling system do confuse me. I don't really want to go running around the world to get every trait for my class (the alternative is spending gold, I suppose it's at least there). I don't understand why they backloaded the trait points so that I can't feel like I've even begun to specialize my class until I'm level 40. I'm also uncertain as to why they're revamping the leveling system in the first place since I've always enjoyed leveling and most of the complaints on the forums seem to be about end game content and guild features.
On the plus side, once I GET the trait points I want, free respecs are nice. Despite people's criticisms I really do enjoy their questing system a lot more than the traditional "gather 20 murloc eyes" style.
I can't really comment about much else... although if you want to see people complain endlessly about every flaw of GW2 their forums are a good place to start.
edit:
They released the "new player experience" patch recently and I haven't played with those changes, which, from reading the forums, seem to be very comprehensive. So my impression here isn't of the most current state of the game.

I did not know that Disney is making it into a movie, and with this cast, I AM WAY BEYOND PUMPED + Show Spoiler + Starring Anna Kendrick. Sold. I mean, yes. I do really enjoy Johnny Depp as well. It's really overall just a solid cast. I have no idea if it will be a musical at all, but the soundtrack for the musical is just amazing. One of the best and most underrated musicals of all time. I've done it myself, it was a lot of fun. And yes, of course it will be a musical.
If you want mindless action you could always play D3 with me

WoW has been 'in decline' for like 5 years, and then sets another record at every xpac launch, and then is back in decline again. Now, the post-launch dropoff is getting larger every time, but MoP still stabalized at like 6 or 7 mil subscribers for most of its lifespan didn't it?
I think a large part of it is just the genre in general kind of fading out with the rise of other platforms(hello Dota2 and LoL, the massive rise of indie gaming), but it's probably also because Blizzard is holding their 'trump card' of remaining major lore characters a bit too long in my opinion, hoping to use it as a recovery tool when the game is truly teetering.

What remaining major lore characters? I think all they have left is kiljaeden really. (And I'm assuming they're not going to bother with sargeras because that opens up a whole new ridiculous can of worms)

WoW dead gaem is the 2nd most hilarious thing after "this mmo is dead and not as good as WoW" Or equally as absurd. I mean WoW is still hugely successful by all accounts. Still the top dog by a huge margin, and it's got Pandaren the 2nd coolest fantasy race.

KJ, Queen Azshara, a bunch of important Nathrezim(Detheroc, Mephistroth, Varimathras, Mal'Ganis), tying up loose ends of the Old Gods lore that are still all over the place(granted much of this is because of WoW, but it's become a huge fan favorite part). That's probably the major stuff that doesn't even require any creative thought to get in game.
The hardest bridge to cross there is figuring out how KJ and the Nathrezim are encounterable, since the Nathrezim could literally be anywhere("in the Twisting Nether") and KJ is presumably on Argus figuring out who/how he can manipulate things to get himself on the mortal plane of Azeroth.
Also while it might be trite, there is already precedent for the Old Gods corrupting basically anything, so you can essentially throw every good guy on the potential villain list. That's not something I would root for or hope Blizzard tries as a 'saving grace' of the game(look guys Malfurion and Thrall have gone crazy, let's go kill them!). Maybe someone there is dumb enough to think that hasn't gotten old already.
|
Wat I used to be versed in WC lore but isn't Azshara long gone/dead 1000 years ago or some shit? And who gives a crap about any of those Nathrezim? They were basically a WC3 plot point. They barely had any importance in early WoW at all aside from some stupid Scarlet Crusade shit.
Old Gods business I love and all but they're really diluting it with a new one every expansion, especially considering we didn't even get to meet the last two at all and they're basically done with.
