Angsty teenagers and fighting robots do not a fun series make. More biblical apocalyptic epicness, less coming-of-age horseshit plz. I get that character development and stuff is important and themes and artistic integrity and whatnot, but if I wanted to watch the anime take on Catcher in the Rye, I would.
Hoping episode 5 is better. You're watching the wrong show bro. Are you serious? Also I thoroughly enjoyed the 3 minutes of nothing but staring at the end of the episode. Truly awe-inspiring. Also also I didn't notice the constant blaring of the cicada sound effects until it was brought up in the episode and now i can't un-notice it. Just awesome. Does it really not get better?

Literally should have watched any other series.

Is Wave watching Evangelion right now? That is a terrible show to start as Baby's First Anime.
If you want something to easy to watch with characters and development start with Durarara!!!

First of all, it's not Baby's First Anime. It's just that I generally don't like most anime with a few exceptions (though I can't think of them atm) but I had heard good things about this one and saw crazy monsters and whatnot so I figured I'd give it a shot. Anyway, Wave's Adventures in Boring as Shit Anime Town part 05
This episode seems to encompass all that is cliche about anime in general. The inane high-school conversation with people doing random shit in uniforms, the awkward boob-grab...it must be on purpose. It's annoying, but less annoying than the last episode. UGH this episode is awkward though. I just don't think I get anime in general. Actually then again that's not true because I've really enjoyed every Miyazaki movie I've watched, and I've watched the weirder stuff like Totoro.
Edit: Oh wait, shit just got real, Angel sighting! Edit 2: That's what I'm fucking talking about. Gonna watch another one now. They probably could have been more creative than a big ol' Cube, but I won't complain about that for now.

You should really just watch gundam if you want mobile suits/mecha. There are plenty of good/decent story lines in gundam univserse/timeline/whatever you want to call the stuff. Gundam Wing might be interesting for you if you don't mind older style of drawing/animation. Seed might also interest you for the newish stuff.
For other things not gundam: Eureka 7?, Code Geass? , Somethign related to the Macross universe?

No I don't give a shit about fighting robots honestly. I'm a Lovecraft aficionado primarily so give me anything by Guillermo Del Toro or Stephen King and I'm happy. It's the creative looking and styled monsters, end-of-the-world and things beyond human comprehension that gets me going.

if you want something that everyone knows. Full metal alchemist brotherhood is pretty lovecraftian. less color from space and more pickman's model-y

Gantz is fucked up. Go down that road at your own risk. It sounds like you'd enjoy mindfuckery style stories and I'm surprised no one mentioned Serial experiments lain, Steins Gate and Paranoia Agent.

Same with Attack on Titan I've heard Elfen lied and Ergo proxy are really good too, but i've not seen either personally, my friend recommended them when i asked about something to watch.

Just read Psyren and Hoshi no Samidare and then realize how inadequate other manga are in comparison.

I named my cat after Elfen lied. Highly awesome series, just you know violent and crazy and while it's hard to get ahold of and you are unlikely to find it avoid the completely uncut version.
