For most DCI drill, the "Tuba" players will use Contras, simply due to their likeiness to how the Trumpet is constructed (held with both hands in front of you and can be put down or set down without having to take it off like a jacket.) Because of that, it allows for the person playing the Contra to be more mobile and to not take as much space as you would a Sousa, allowing for Tighter looking, Faster Moving, drill. Sousa's tend to sound better, but in DCI scoring Marching and Music are scored the same (Out of 35 total points). Using Sousa's will lose you ~5-7 Visual Effect, the other 30 points, and you need every point you can get if you're going to make it to Championship Sunday in August. | ||

Come to think of it Lord Tolkien was in them too. He prob wouldn't react as much so it wouldn't be as fun though.
