Considering attempting to run would put me in the hospital, I'm good, thanks.

Like I'd be limited to Maiden (and yes, I know, using the live version is cheating a bit; but it's closer musically than the original). And it's more getting me educated in music than getting me laid, I'd have done the same thing with a male or female friend (it's like a bet! "If I guess a band, you tell me 'bout why you like it") but because the word "girl" appeared people reacted to it that way (well I did put it on purpose because I anticipated people making fun of it and good mood, all that).

Yeah but I thought the idea was that temp bans were to get people to take a break from TL for awhile, if they need to study and they know they'll be distracted or stuff like that. I guess for me inability to post won't really get me off of the thread though.

I recommend PM'ing JBright or MoonBear. They tend to be around more often in my experience. Edit: Or it'll get taken care of as I post.

Actually no I won't, that'd be too much effort just to piss all of you off, saying I was going to do it has probably already accomplished the goal.

I have some friends that have been playing and I recently read about Johnny Magic and I'm now mildly interested. I know there is a million different formats but I think I would be interested in whatever the "standard" is. The formats that you build a deck from opened packs also seem like fun but I would think they you would need a little bit of experience. Thanks! Hm. If you're sitting on the fence about it, I recommend getting Duels of the Planeswalkers which you can get on Steam, or for your iPad, etc. It's an electronic format for Magic that's only versus AI and there's a limited selection of cards, but it's a fun way to see whether you'd like Magic as a game. It's also fairly cheap so it's not like you'll risk a case where you shell out a lot of money only to find you don't like it or maybe you find out you don't have a lot of time to really pick this up as a hobby. If you find you like Magic, turn up at a local game store and tell the owner you're new to MtG and want to learn more. Try out Drafting (also called Limited) like Yango recommended. This won't cost you lots of money and is a nice practical way of learning how to evaluate how good cards are, and it'll slowly build you up a collection of cards without needing to dump a large wad of cash for a full deck. Limited in MtG is much more fun than Hearthstone Arena Draft imo because you're not forced into only goodstuff.dec and you can go nuts with random janky silliness. Your friends or other people at the game store (if it's a good one) may be willing to walk you through everything without being overbearing. Oh, also some game stores give away 40-card beginner packs for free to new players. These are supplied by Wizards as tools for new players to start off with to learn how to play, sort of like "Timmy's first deck". They're very basic and there are some bad cards in there so the idea is that after you've cracked some boosters you slowly swap cards in, remove bad cards (this also teaches you how to identify bad cards!), and tweak it until you have a nice proper deck that you've customised and are happy to play casually with. If you want to try proper Standard maybe ask a friend or someone at the local game store if you can borrow their deck and play with it for a game or two to feel out what it's like. They may try to helicopter-mentor but hopefully it'll give you an insight into the sorts of decks that get played. I can't say more about Standard though because I don't play this format. There's an MtG thread here on TL if you have questions or whatever you want to post about too (I also lurk there a fair amount lol). Beyond that, just have fun!
