@alaric well it's weird because basotho will literally dance in the middle of the street by themselves but answering questions in class is terrifying. my teachers are even very shy when it comes to saying things in staff meetings. a lot of it is due to the fact that we use English in school so naturally they aren't as comfortable. but a lot of people just don't have big aspirations. the graduation rate of high school is roughly 50%. we have about 90 kids in 8th grade. by the time that class gets to 12th grade there will be only 20-30 of them. then only half of those kids actually graduate. so most kids just go to school cause their parents tell them to but very few actually believe in themselves. so they don't try because they figure I'm not smart enough to do maths/English/science. it's funny because they're as a whole a very happy and content people (more so than many Americans I know). kind of a ignorance is bliss situation.

Not all details are 100% known since it was more or less word of mouth over a 70 year time period but: Most of our family moved to america in the late 1800's to early 1900's. My great grandfather's brother stayed behind with his wife and kids. He was a constable? or german equivalent I believe in their village so had a pretty high standing. My dad's aunt actually visited them during the very beginning of nazism before it began to get really bad (like when the youth corps was only just starting) but that's a whole different story. They generally would keep to themselves but at one point the german army recruiters came to the door asked his sons to join the army (recruitment for the war). My great grandfather's brother refused them. He didn't believe in the nazi's views. We're not sure all the details but either the next night or a few nights later some soldiers were sent and killed the entire family in their sleep as they were "traitors" to hitler and the german nation. It was a small village in baden-wurtemburg near the edge of the black forest. I can't remember the name but that's where my family is originally from. Supposedly my dad's aunt and her parents were the ones to originally hear the full story as they were the closest ones to them. On another note, my great grandfather always hated FDR. My great grandfather used to see him as someone as bad as hitler.

Yeah... It's good at times though. And since I've read so far, I want to know how it ends.

Oh rite i forgot about that one. It's an attempt to bring rationality and the scientific method into a world of magic. It's quite hilarious at times.

My great grandfather used to see him as someone as bad as hitler. Thanks He must have been a brave man. Unfortunately there was amost no way to just stay out of the war. The only way was to get out of the country and he probably could have managed to get to America with having family overseas. Many people just underestimated the nazis until it was too late. My grandgrandfather managed to not fight in the war because he purposely reinjured his knee while doing gymnastics. His brothers died in Stalingrad and Sibiria.
