Clem v Reynor #1 (overall banger slugfest) Maru vs Oliveira #2 (for the past rivalry) Serral vs herO (for the ultra razor thin margins and bonkers late game dev)

I am rooting for Dark, herO, and Clem.
I love how much becoming a dad seems to have inspired Dark to work harder, and winning GSL and ESWC back to back would be a great story.
Rooting for herO for carrying the hopes of all Protoss on his shoulders, and also because he has produced the craziest, most heartpounding games of all the players this tournament. I don't think he can take down Serral or Dark in a Bo9, but I would love for him to prove me wrong.
Rooting for Clem because this is already his best tournament performance ever, and I think he has a great shot vs Serral or Dark in the finals. It was really cool watching how excited he got when he beat Serral 3-0 in the first bracket stage.

Based on Aligulac, just for arguments sake, a Maru vs Cure series is 75/25. Cure winning is not exactly shocking, nor some affront to the format. Especially when Maru had already lost two series' to Dark and Serral, been taken to a final match vs Oliveira. Maru just didn't have an amazing tournament, and that's what it takes to win a 20 man tournament. If you want to win, don't lose three BoX series in a row, pretty much. Having a 3rd chance in a tourney is interesting in its own right.

Think if Clem can take Hero in the semi he will win it all, his Tvz looks impeccable

Could very well be the case. It would be interesting to see if Serral can adept to Clem's pressure once more. Normally I would say a Bo9 will favor Serral, but looking at the map pool I am not sure if this is the case this time.
But man... there are so many great stories to write.
Dark Being the first SC2 World Champion who is a father, showing everyone that age and other responsibilities are excuses for the weak as well as surpassing Maru in prize money earned.
Serral Cementing his GOAT-status by winning 100% of the tournaments he attended in 2024 and taking the next world championship title, which evaded him in Katowice due to the re-scheduling.
herO Showing the world that Protoss is alive and kicking with the first Premier Tournament win of the race, since he himself won GSL season 2 in 2022.
Clem Adding his name to the SC2 World Champions and securing more prize money with one event than he accumulated so far in his career.
The matches will be bangers no matter who plays in the finals.
Good luck to everyone and let's see who the new StarCraft 2 World Champion will be!

True. But was there ever a time when he had to play the same opponent twice in a tournament? I remember him winning MC6 after being kicked out by Clem, but Clem was taken out by Byun.
If Clem wins versus herO he could be in a good spot to win if we look at the map pool + Clem definitely playing a Zerg in the finals and his overall form seems incredible. herO showed he can take care of Terran but herO and Clem probably haven't played any comparable players of the other race so far.
My guess is that Serral will outmatch Dark in a Bo7 slightly (could also go the other way round) and will win it if he faces herO, but will probably lose against Clem, as Clem seems in superb form and Serral looking more beatable this tournament+map pool. But everything will probably be on a knife's edge.

looks like another Serral win probably 4-1/2 vs both Dark and herO. Unless Clen finally shows up in the big stage then it could be interesting but even then taking a bo7 in grand final vs Serral seems tough

Production at this tournament pretty sick, not gonna lie

Classic just stated that he considers switching races after this trounament because his race feels that underpowered. edit: also, how much money Maru ended up taking? just 15k?

Maru and Reynor earned $30,000 each

Looking forward to exciting matches today.
Overall, I think Serral is most likely to take it, but it will be close and can go anyway. I just hope we won't get a Dark vs. Clem finals. That might become reminiscent of Atlanta, where we had an epic Serral vs. Clem in the semis, but Clem vs. Dark in the finals was quite one-sided and disappointing, as Dark simply could not keep up with Clem's speed and multitasking.
