Give credit to Zest though he spotted his opportunity and he pounced, a few more seconds and all those spines would have finished enough probably to block zest. Zest did the expected play nothing exceptional imo, Rogue just went full retard. Rogue just mis-read Zest build in that last game, he thought Zest would commit more into Air units, seeing the triple Stargate and Fleet Beacon. Thats why he made 30+ Corruptors to smah all the Skytoss. Unfortuantely Zest already halfwat transition back into ground, and Rogue was left with useless 20+ Corruptor and cant make anything else because he was supply blocked. Zest strategy was great, although that is not shown that clear on the face value. There's misreading the game, and there is killing all the Stargates with your corruptors. What else hes supporsed to do with those Corruptors? There is a reason why people dont over-produce Corruptors.

It has been four years since then. Protoss fans must be happy. I am cheering for Zest to win now instead of Trap.

I am happy of course but also it was more Rogue losing this than Zest winning so it doesn't feel super satisfying

I had to miss the games from 3 onwards, how was it? As epic as the scoreline suggests? :D will watch the vods ASAP either way, fucking glad Zest did it!

First 5 games were bops, on either side. Last 2 games were pretty good mid-game PvZ, but Zest was playing very solid in the end while Rogue made the wrong read a couple times.

Well, if you look at it this way you should also agree Dream was the one losing the ro4 last time. I am super satisfied, personally!

all of our interesting records are getting actively killed off with time; need to invent more

I'm not even a Zest fan and I was rooting for him today. Well done. I'm happy with anyone winning from here on out.

We'd have to come up with a new thing for 6 titles.
Luckily GSL is sponsored by Hot6.

This is a perfect opportunity for Trap, would love for him to win this season but Zest winning his final season would be epic too. Cure is the least interesting champion, but a new champion would still be cool.

Rogue's recent bo7 loss to Maru kind of took the wind out of Rogue losing a bo7 series. Impressive series from Zest though.

I get the point but I think it firstly originated as offline Bo7 finals before someone realized it was also offline Bo7 overall. And given that most legit tournaments end with a Bo7 finals so It's fair to say Rogue never lost a premier finals and it's really a record.

Exactly. Besides, it's always more about the clutch factor of finals, less about the BO7 factor. The record extension of BO7 semi-final was more of a bonus.
Not sure if Rogue has lost BO5 semi-final in the past (Super Tourney?). But if he has, I don't see why BO7 becomes a distinguishing factor.

Plus it's flat so you can make a podium with the 4 GSL trophy and put the G5L trophy on top, save a lot of place on the trophy shelf.

Can't believe some people here are saying Rogue "misread" Zest in the last game.
No. That was his plan all along. Make a ton of Corruptors, kill all air, then make BL and kill the ground cause air takes too long to remake (specially since he killed the stargates) so he knew zests wouldn't go air.
He didn't misread the build. He literally dictated what zest would do.
The reason he lost is he made BL at the top left of the map instead of basically anywhere else. If he makes them at his third? He wins. At his fourth? He wins. At the middle right? He wins.
He literally lost because he foolishly made his BL in literally the worst place possible because he was planning on a quick attack, but didn't consider Zest would attack him slightly sooner and through the right. If zest takes literally 10 seconds more before attacking Zest loses.
