Not exactly a surprise, seeing as it's October.

But Innovation not coming out against Zoun in the final match was disappointing for what is supposed be the ace player on Kaizi.

Good for Time to step up in Innovation's shoes though. A well deserved victory by Time.

Inno was confidence in TvZ right now but not so in TvP. Perhaps, it gave clear signal to the Kaizi Boss to not forcing him from playing in ace match. Trusting in Inno's decision and TIME's willingness to play was some hard decision made by Kaizi Boss even it meant a gamble.

Actually INnoVation is known to be poor in TvP. Even when TvP wasn't so hard he's always strugling with top-tier protoss. Time, on the contrary, is confident in TvP and he recently won a few matches against Zoun.
If the ace for AX was Rag, Inno probably did the shot.

If you had listen to their dialog, the team manager also wanted Time to take the show, probably because the Chinese manager wished to utilize this chance to train the Chinese player.

After Newbee disbanded, KZ gaming was setup by a relative of SCBoy as the new team for Time, the Chinese SC2 community figure. The major purpose of this team is to give Time a professional atmosphere to grow up.

Here's my MVP analysis. First, it's def gonna be someone on AlphaX, super clutch the whole way.

I'll assign +1 to each victory against a Korean and -1 to each loss against a non-Korean unless you're a non-Korean yourself. Tiebreaker will be who won the most ace-match.

AlphaX vs BraveStar:
Nice 1-1 Cyan no change
Zoun 1-1 Dream +1 Zoun
Ragnarok 2-0 Scarlett no change
Ragnarok 1-1 Dream +1 Rag

Score: Nice 0, Zoun 1, Rag 1

AlphaX vs JinAir
Ragnarok 1-1 Rex -1 Rag
Nice 1-1 Creator +1 Nice
Zoun 1-1 Maru +1 Zoun
Zoun 1-1 Trap +1 Zoun
Ragnarok 1-0 Trap +1 Rag

Score: Nice 1, Zoun 3, Rag 1

AlphaX vs DPG
Zoun 1-1 Firefly -1 Zoun
Ragnarok 1-1 Cure +1 Rag
Nice 1-1 Dark +1 Nice
Zoun 1-1 Dark +1 Zoun
Ragnarok 1-0 Cure +1 Rag

Score: Nice 2, Zoun 3, Rag 3

AlphaX vs Kaizi
Nice 1-1 TIME no change
Ragnarok 0-2 Solar no change
Zoun 2-0 Solar +2 Zoun
Zoun 1-1 Innovation +1 Zoun
Ragnarok 1-1 Solar +1 Rag
Zoun 0-1 TIME -1 Zoun

Score: Nice 2, Zoun 5, Rag 4

So Zoun deserves the MVP, but Ragnarok did win 2 ace-matches while Zoun lost 1, so it's a close call.

So Ragnarok deserves the MVP, besides he also won 2 ace-matches while Zoun lost 1.

I'll, uhhh, bookmark this for later. :D

The numbers show how difficult that decision is, there was no one who really 'got carried' here, everyone contributed critical maps.

Lol before you do, I actually made a mistake, I forgot to include Zoun 2-0 Solar in the last match! So the final score is actually Nice 2, Zoun 5, Rag 4, so I guess Zoun wins MVP! Though Rag did win 2 ace-matches while Zoun lost 1 so it's close :D

Ace matches being what they are, I'm inclined to favor Ragnarok over Zoun. Especially since Zoun lost the one that mattered most.

A little bit rough since in the same match Zoun carried the team taking out solar and INno

Noooo, so now it's closer again. :D

Still leaning towards RagnaroK as well because of the two ace wins. I'd give the entire team the award, but that feels like a lame cop-out even though everyone deserves it.

Yeah, I agree. Another reason I favor Ragnarok is that JinAir possibly didn't send out Maru for the ace match because how potent Ragnarok's ZvT is, and they sent out Trap but still lost. Their best bet was probably Rogue who unfortunately had to play (and lose) two individual tournaments the same day.

The biggest throw of the playoff was DPG and Dark. Not only did Dark lose the critical 2nd game (1 match point) of 2 sets against imo worse opponents by doing all-ins, but also was probably not sent out in the ace match against Ragnarok because of those 2 losses, which would've been Dark favored I think.

Imagine if GTC were included in liquibets... this weekend's carnage would have been even more severe.

1st GTC - Rogue won MvP
2nd GTC - Dark (or Dream???, can't remember well) won MvP

0 if you normally buy a war chest. 25% through the QR code I suppose?

Disappointed in Innovation. Kaizi paid the big money to Innovation to be their Ace player, along with Solar. At the end of the AlphaX PartinG showmatch against Innovation, PartinG acknowledged that Protoss has an advantage against Terran in this patch so I understand if Innovation also feels this way about Protoss (Innovation mentioned in the last GSL interview that he struggles against Protoss). But Innovation not coming out against Zoun in the final match was disappointing for what is supposed be the ace player on Kaizi.

Good for Time to step up in Innovation's shoes though. A well deserved victory by Time.

Please don't.
Time was a special player since he was the only chinese player that can challenge the top tier players, with some stability. That also means he's special to the chinese casters, audience, and the team manager. If Inno stand out (and he has a poor tvp performance over all and did not perform well vs zoun) and he lost, it will be his fault. But if Time go for the ace and he lost, it is understandable and won't be criticized that much in chinese community. And Time did had a better records in tvp as well as vs zoun.(Thanks to practices with Status). In the end, Time for ACE is suggested by time and approved by team manager ("inno or time both fine").
I hope inno can have the confidence to stand out, but his behavior is unsurprising, and shouldn't be criticized. Without inno's effort, time won't even have the chance for the ace fight. An excellent final for all players.

25% as I heard, but only after they announce the share would go to teams, but most people already bought the war chest long before it.
However, I also hear that they are working to make portraits, decals and other stuff of the teams for next war chest.
