DRG's performance today bodes extremely well for SC2. It shows that players can remain super competitive as they age. DRG said in the post-match interview that he analyzes a lot of games, especially Serral's, so I think maybe since older players can't physically sit at a computer and hammer out as many games as the fresh ones, they can still at least do some very deep analysis of games to compensate; and perhaps, this may even be the superior approach to SC2.

I was very much into DRG pre-LotV, but now I'm even a bigger fan than ever. I hope he continues to perform at this level through the playoffs.

#Terranpatch indeed.

We're getting ZvZvPvP semifinals.

Don't blame the patch when it was clearly the skill gap between players.

It's always the skill gap when Zerg is winning and yet win Terran over performs in a single event for the first time in 3 years (and no Maru winning GSLs is not a Terran over performance when every other Terran is doing terribly) it is immediately the strongest race according to both the majority of TL and 90% of Reddit.

Why do ppl never count Maru!? He has feelings too you know!! =/

And i mean come on, Dream was by far the weakest player in this Ro8. Inno vs DRG was a surprise though, I give you that

There also is a difference between having 2 players in ro8 those going into the ro4 vs having 5 players in the ro8 and 3 players in ro4, not saying i don't think is pretty good overall, but that is still a very valid reason to say a race is pretty good right now.

One tournament is never enough to say a race is the strongest unless something insane happens like them taking all of the top 8. ESL season finals, GSL S2, TSL 5, and Stay at homestory cup 2 have proven that people dramatically over reacted to the results of GSL season 1. It's also absurd that people even reacted that way to start with when we just had IEM end in a PvZ finals right before GSL season 1. Terran is absolutely not the best race currently. It is still Zerg. Terran has maybe moved up to number 2 rather than number 3 as they were in 2018 and 2019 but I'm not even convinced of that yet.

The classic Maru playstyle (take the one he used to beat Dark in super tourn. finals) is very taxing physically. If he has injury problems I dont blame him trying to approach the games more passively, but with the current meta, maps and overall strenght of Zerg, Bio is not viable at all. I think he could have beaten Solar if he went mech like Dream did.
DRG and Rogue are a whole another level though. I dont think there is a Terran out there who could win if the Zergs are playing this good.

DRG's recent results must be some of the most impressive from someone returning to the game after a long absence in SC2 history. Seriously incredible!
I used to play random, but for you I play very specifically.

Hey go go DRG! I was hoping he'd repeat his defeat of innovation as he did back in the day of Innovation's apparent invincibility.
Like Tinkerbelle, I leave behind a sparkly residue.

I think the idea that age impacts a player's performances is really overblown. Talking about DRG as an old man is silly. Boredom, moving on with life, military service (for koreans), lack of motivation during a slump, general lack of team structure in Sc2... there is a long list of things that i'd put above "old age" in a "top reasons why a player isn't as sharp as he used to be"-list for a 29y/o player like DRG. I think we've yet to see a game of Starcraft 2 where people go "too bad, he could have pulled that off if he was younger" while reasonably discarding a multitude of other factors could be the reason why said "old player" could have lost.

i just lost interest on playing ladder due to zerg being so op, i mean literally they just need to hide behind the tanky queen while dronin up to 80, while i'm still cleaning free creep tumors that need to cost mineral to balance the game economy wise...

i mean zerg just do lings banes to deal with anything the terran does... how is that balance?

Love love love it. I just love to see OP terran lose. I was really scared when I saw the short video time on the VODs cause I thought stupid terran was gonna smash but then it turned out so great! I just hope terran never wins again and we can enter into an age where only Z and P are competitive

Nothing fancy happened but interesting nonetheless if you're into solid zerg players who don't show a crack in their defense while carrying out ferocious aggressions

Not sure how to edit, to clarify my above post, I do want Protoss to be buffed because zerg does seem a little too good against protoss and the gloves all in meta is a bit boring. I just want terran to have to deal with not always being able to at any point in the game have the best army, and it looks like zerg has really started to solve that, so looking forward to terran not winning all the time. DRG hype!

What the HELL DRG! What a monster, the games never looked close. The only man in his thirties and in the semis, and it's not like INno played bad at all. PartinG vs DRG finals in 2020?!

Damn we really had one season of terran and now it's back to zerg winning everything. So much has changed over the last three years but still feels like nothing has.

Guess terran needed the bunker CC bug after all
Zest, sOs, PartinG, Dark, and Maru are the real champs. ROOT_herO is overrated. Snute, Serral, and Scarlett are the foreigner GOATs

It's not impossible but what results really point towards that happening? TY has looked poor in everything he's played in lately and lost to DRG in the ro16. Stats looked very good vs Cure.
