I caught the last game and Dark played pretty poopy. Hopefuly it's just a rough patch (pun unintended) and not carpal tunnel.

glad INnoVation made it out but it's a shame that Dark has kind of fallen off. He doesn't really look like a top 10 player anymore tbh.

At a guess I imagine his wrists are still bothering him. He was hospitalized a few months back, and since then he said on stream that he's not pushing himself too hard to avoid aggravating the injury.

makes sense that he is planning long term. he's one of the younger players so it's a sacrifice worth making. That said, I feel like the korean zergs have fallen off quite badly and it seems pretty to me that Reynor and Serral are the best zergs and probably the best players atm if I'm being honest.

I mean EU doesn't have terrans or protosses on the same level as their zergs, so neither of them are going to fall off any time soon until the other two races over there figure out how to close the gap.

Dark looking pretty poor. Especially compared to that Bo5 against Maru.

I kinda pains me to hear Tasteless said that Dark has been the best Korean zerg since the second half of 2019 since well Rogue won GSL S3 2019 and Katowice 2020. But i guess Tasteless doesn't watch SC2 anymore outside the matches he get paid to cast

I really didn't think we'd get parting of all protosses in the ro8 (esp after His Play in dh), tho i also think inno threw Game 1 vs him pretty hard by taking some atrocious fights.

Rogue has individual tournament runs that are amazing, but in between he does terribly. Like this year winning Katowice and getting eliminated in the first round of Code S and not getting into the Super Tournament at all. Don't think it's that much of a stretch when Tasteless calls the more consistent player who also has tournament wins in the same time span (including Blizzcon) better.

The first game of Parting/inno was so great.
The tvz were pretty lames, not a great showing for Dark.

I think that's a normal "success cadence" for most of SC2 history—Maru + Serral in 2018-2019 has just really skewed our perception.

Dark smashed his way through Super Tournament, just edged out by Maru and finished 2nd.

It's a bit unfortunate that Dark had to meet Inno twice. Kudos to Parting defeating Inno, but PvT overall right now just looks... wonky and coin-flippy ala high-stakes poker due to Toss' AoE damage (nothing about balance, just saying that the games tend to hinge on 1-2 major engagements... then again, that's arguably the whole life story of SC2 PvT).

Hard to tell who would've won between Dark and Parting. Probably somewhat even.

So I don't think the results are too unexpected, the way they turned out. If Parting had lost to Inno and won Dark to clinch the spot, I would have been more surprised and convinced that Dark is 'slumping'....

Perhaps Rogue had some kind of bad "aura" ie his play styles that made spectators hated him so much that they never wished to put him as the top 3 best Zerg players either in 2019 or 2020 even though he kept winning the big tourneys.

It's more about the perception that he is a patchzerg whereas Dark has been consistently one of the best Zergs since 2016. Also he is often a very inconsistent player as people have said. Take early 2020 for example, he went and won Katowice only to lose in the first round of the gsl. When he won GSL season 3 last year he then got knocked out in the first round of the Super Tournament and then was knocked out in the quarterfinals of Blizzcon.

Yknow I was gonna say that Inno keeps going for allins because he must think he can't win a macro game. Then he goes and dominates a macro game.

Also, I kinda suspect that Inno is very happy to be facing DRG instead of TY in the Ro8.

Yeah I'm expecting a clean 3-0 in that game...

Dark is one of Inno's biggest nemeses, just check Aligulac. Dark won almost every series between them in LotV, this year is the first where he's mostly losing.

Some interesting games today! To be honest I enjoyed most of the series, but I have to admit I was rooting against Parting, but he played pretty good PvT! Super hyped for the rematch between him and TY though, I feel like he tiled at least 2 games the last time they met...

Dark I would've loved for him to advance but the match up between Inno and DRG is really exciting

Ro8 shaping up to be great!
