Not even a proper comparison. Lilbow knew his odds so he knew what he was doing from the beginning. Maru can do way better.
Honestly I think Lilbow was way more embarassing. At least we can be assured Maru TRIED to win this. Just can't stop the actual God of BlizzCon though. I don't think there's any shame in that.
I can kinda agree with this, at least Maru was trying, he lost to sOs's mindgames
He wasn't. Properly "trying" would be playing into his own strength, not bumrushing into a trap that he knew sOs will be setting up for him 3 times in a row.
Playing into his own strength??? Are you guys forgetting that Maru proxies almost EVERY game, in EVERY matchup???
Link me to a game he played recently where he proxied against Zerg.
I mean seriously?
Thanks for making it finally clear you actually don't watch this game and just talk out of your ass any time you try to sell your pulled out of ass opinion as a "logical" fact,

I would be guessing Maru is a player who never diverge of his planned build in a series, it bate him in the ass when playing against someone who know the build he love.
That is still, his UTTER failure at preparing for a series with so much on the line, against an opponent that knows him so well and is incredibly dangerous on big stages. It's simply unacceptable for a player of his caliber.

So basically Serral, Neeb and Special are on the same level as top-tier Koreans while everyone else is still full foreigner? I noticed Fantasy chose SC2 OVER SC:BW!!!! How has he looked?? Is Mvp and Jangbi still in the military? Where's MarineKing.Prime, PartinG, Bomber and DongRaeGu?
Serral and Neeb are on par with top Koreans but Special still has no tournament win to back his skill. Mvp is out of military, he streamed a while ago and said he only plays sc2 for fun. Fantasy, PartinG and DRG are back to play competitively but are still far from his top form, PartinG is probably the best among them now, managing to qualify for code S this year. Not sure about MKP, Bomber has a KR ladder account of about 5.6k mmr.
thanks :D! Looks like no one knows what happened to Marine King..whch is is sad because he's one of my favorite players and Jangbi.. Sucks at Mvp only plays for fun. Not sure if 5.6mmr is good, hopefully bomber can make it back into the scene. His series vs Scarlett is one of my favs of all time.
Pretty sure MKP actually matchfixed but was somehow saved by his parents or something? If that's the case he won't ever comeback unfortunately
Atleast Maru gave him a tribute with his series against sOs.

Marineking retired last I checked. He played an absurdly bad game against ByuL back in 2015 that brought on a wave of match-fixing allegations. Since then he went quiet

Standard, non-proxy Terran play would have likely been a sure way to get past sOs, but I suppose when Maru hasn't played "Standard" TvP in so long it would have required a complete shift away from all that's given him so much success this year. I suppose that's a lot easier said than done... The brilliance of sOs shines through once again, and sadly Maru falls flat on his face.
I'm kinda with Poopi here in feeling like I might just shut down the stream out of sheer disappointment..
yeah I probably will stop watching too
This is why you don't only hype two players. You could even see this reflected in the TL preview threads - every one was negative except for Serral and Maru.
It hurts viewership if the analysts can't discuss more than one player. Maru isn't Flash - he can't and will not live up to that comparison but he's still a legend.
Exactly, this is why it's annoying when they constantly talk about 1 or 2 players even when it's not relevant

Dunno mate, if you try to prepare for sOs it can actually get even weirder, i still have nightmares of sOs vs Soulkey brawls.

This is recent, sOs has been shit for ages and Maru has been beating everyone each and every way (proxy or no proxy) for a year, nothing about their series makes sense unless sOs is inside his mind in some way.

"Child prodigy", "Best in the world" and utterly dominant sportsman gets overconfident and underprepares for an opponent who barely qualified and struggled against much weaker opponents.
