Foreigner whined so loudly that they can now take Korean monney in GSL while competiting in WCS (hello scarlett) and Korean just have gsl and global events. Yeah it's been a while but it still struck in my throat

but it's not foreigner hate, the player I really like happens to be mostly koreans (playstyle or personnality); I really like Snute, Major and I support french player but Koreans are just more likeable imo.

It's mostly Usopama and Charosieur that are really toxic about it, it's just that they make up like 8% of all TL posts in this the Tourneys channel lol

I just need to balance out the blatant foreigner favouritism that is so common in this community. I never got the concept of cheering for players just because they're white.

Masa's Korean you know...Has is Taiwanese...TIME is Chinese....

The blatant foreigner favouritism? If anything people favour Koreans.

I understand not liking the foreigner bias, but I don't get hating foreigners for being foreigners.

Wasn't foreigner favouritism the reason the WCS system was introduced? Because people wanted to see white guys winning?
I don't hate foreigners lol. I just don't really care for them, I find the foreign scene very boring.

No, it was because both the EU and AM scenes were dying. It wasn't healthy for the global scene if the foreigners couldn't be competitive because unlike BW, the majority of people watching were not Koreans.

Also, again, you realize that the entire foreign Asian Starcraft 2 scene is....not white, right? Also a large chunk of the SA and Mexican scene are not white.

What exactly do you find boring about the foreigner scene? Their playstyle? Do you remember Rain playing? He wasn't exactly the most exciting guy to watch? Their personality? I mean...foreigners have avilo. He's more than enough personality for the entire scene combined. Storylines? I mean Neeb being a highschooler and then being the first foreigner to win a Korean SC2 tournament.

And now is the Korean scene rising above everything and more lively than ever. And foreigners are not taking their money while Koreans are banned from WCS. /s

And it haa nothing to do with the Korean matchfizing scandal and the Korean sponsors and KeSPA leaving SC2 behind, right :o?

I mean, that's a fair opinion. If you just happen to like the Koreans more, then that's that.

I will say, though, that in the two years of WCS EU and AM, all six tournaments were won by Koreans, this in addition to having WCS Korea for those two years, and foreigners were a small percentage of the ro8. I feel like Koreans living in Korea and then coming to America and then leaving was not what Blizzard had in mind. Hi Pigbaby.

So, to talk about foreigners coming and taking the GSL money while also taking the foreign money is interesting seeing as Koreans have been doing it for years, and the same people didn't say anything about it.

Thanks.

There was a difference no ? I mean koreans weren't allowed to go to both circuits, and they had to forfeit GSL in order to go to WCS American/Europe. At the time I cheered hard for foreigner against that "invasion" except in America since there wasn't very strong players at the time so yeah without Polt or Bomber I wouildn't have watch it at all. But both for' and kor were kind on equal foot. Here SpeCial and Scarlett and co' can play in Korea and in Homeland. Koreans just have homeland... that's why even I like Major i can't cheer for him in GSL, just like I was agaisnt godMvp in WCS EU.
And I hated to see people saying that koreans have no personality when the tree most emotionnal victory of tournament were arguably those of DuckDeok, Forgg and sOs I mean they have a lot to show, while foreigner since the glorious days of Stephano or Naniwa don't look badass anymore in my opinion.

But it's not foreigner hate. best player ever was a foreigner after all.

I don't really know tbh. I just can't find myself cheering for one of those players.
I watched a few WCS events and just felt complete empathy about who wins the game as opposed to the korean scene where I'm cheering like crazy for my favourites to advance.
Not sure why this is, maybe the lower skilllevel and the knowledge that the players are just competing there because the better players are excluded.

But let's be honest - without foreigners the scene would be dead. It is not fun to watch any sport (or esport) dominated by one country.
Other than that it really is not the players fault. They are giving their best, and often they are doing it for us, so there is no reason to bash them... If you like Koreans it is fine (it is not like we have something against them) but no need to insult foreigners. It is natural that people are cheering for palyers from their countries, or their region (like NA or EU). Moreover cheering for underdogs is always fun. Like yesterday in a Neeb vs Harstem match I think that most people would cheer for the second one. And foreigners are most of the time underdogs, so it is natural.

The other thing is language barrier. It is obviously way more fan to listen to interviews in language you can understand. Or read twits or forum posts. All the Koreans that speak even occasionally some English have way more fans than the rest of them.

All in all - you can cheer for whoever you like, you can hate region lock but please stop insulting players. I can only imagine how awful it must feel to read "I hope all foreigners will be smashed" all the time from their point of view.

You are very much correct on that point. And perhaps there is some hypocrisy in that regard.

But the extent to which Scarlett, Sortof, and Special take GSL money is negligible compared to the amount of winnings the top Koreans won in WCS AM/EU. Scarlett winning instead of Innovation does' hurt him very much monetarily.

Now, I do agree that the lower tier Koreans are suffering, but the occasional placement in Code S isn't going to fix that problem. They need a secondary tournament that is only for low skilled Koreans.

There are no young, teamless Koreans who have the potential but whose spots have been taken by foreigners. All Koreans that foreigners have taken out either would not have made it anyways or are already established Koreans with the ability to make Code S. Take a look at any qualifier where a foreigner beat a Korean and show the up and coming Korean who would have made it without the foreigners.

As I said, these Koreans need a secondary tournament that is only for low skilled Koreans.

The problem with Korea is that you have many top tier, some middle tier, and few low tier. The rest are mainly ladder players. They don't have a base of middle and low tier players.

To be fair I think a lack of an organized tier 2 is probably doing that more than anything else, across all regions.

Even if we blame the fall of Korean scene only on this and not on the fact that SC2 wasn't so popular and other games were/are more popular. When that happened the region lock rule didn't change. While Koreans lost the team support(appart from the JAGW) they are threatened by foreigners while foreigners are still protected. I kinda see double standards when circumstances changed. And I don't like that.

BTW most of the Koreans in WCS EU were living there and playing on the EU ladder. While yes, Koreans were dominating the EU scene at least they were there and were improving the quality of the scene. I can see how WCS NA was wrong and I was one of the peopel who actually argued for "you have to live there to compete" in the way EU was done(because of the lag issues )
I imagine France should be able to take this unless Lilbow is busy practicing for Starcraft III. | KadaverBB is my fairy ban mother.

So, to talk about foreigners coming and taking the GSL money while also taking the foreign money is interesting seeing as Koreans have been doing it for years, and the same people didn't say anything about it.

And the same people that complained about koreans flying over and taking the WCS EU/NA money now aren't complaining that foreigners do the same.

But it annihilates the careers of young teamless players who have the potential but who must also feed themselves.
