What was that tournament?

Cross Finals

Which is why I said "Not in the literal sense". It's a trophy. Just not from a big tournament

Still a better trophy than any GSL/SSL ever :D

God has given more than five years for all players to prove themselves as a champion, many players already did, but Stats didn't and there are no excuses can be made here because time is fair for everyone.
He will never be a Protoss Titan like Rain, Parting, sOs, Classic, herO and Zest. This is a sad fact but it's inescapable due to his age.

If he wins 2-3 tournaments this year he can very well be on the level of Classic or PartinG

Disgusting. How many viewers did we have? 50k? 60k? Part of them already waiting for CSGO?

tbf CSGO is actually a great esport. CS and SC are by far the highest skill games.

not great to watch tho imho

I prefer Quake 1on1 fps

Yes. Quake was the greatest 1on1 game ever made.

SSBM even better

I wish SSBM wasn't the same 5 players fighting for 1st place at every tournament :/

It's actually not right now. Mostly Armada/Hbox with a bit of Mango and sometimes Leffen, M2K hasn't won in forever iirc.
But there are up and coming players, Plup is the next godslayer for example.
I'd rather have that than the random mess sc2 has been :x, but I guess it depends on your taste indeed.

Tbf, most very well known 1v1 esports games are great, and probably the best in their respective genre!
Can't really objectively say which game (among quake/sc:bw/sc2/ssbm/did I forget one?) is the best 1v1 game...

M2K > Hbox right now. But yes, the era of 5 gods is over by now. I'd say it's Armada >>>> Mango/M2K/Leffen/HBox > atm and probs won't change until Armada retires lol.
And Quake is top1

I dunno if you can say M2k > Hbox. Hbox OWNS M2K in the head to head. Sure M2K recently beat him at Smash Conference/UGC (he played fucking nuuutttttss at UGC) and outplaced him at Genesis but tbh Smash conference and Genesis were more about the fact that Hbox had a fractured finger and literally had to change the way he played the game for a few months to compensate. Plus Hbox beat him in their last match at Tampa Never Sleeps.

Also Hbox won like 16 billion tournaments in 2016 and M2k won like... 2. And neither of M2k's wins featured more than 2 gods iirc whereas Hbox won EVO and BOTFG

You think win 2-3 tournaments in one year is easy in Korea? Cuz I remember only few players accomplished that. I guess he can win this coming GSL if he wants to prove himself and we can start from there to dream more.

If I remember correctly, we have 2 GSL, 2 SSL, 2 Afreeca Super tournament (or something like that) and Blizzcon left, right? So he has 8 chances to show he can still lift a "real" trophy.

2 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 7
If you were counting GSL vs the World, that would be 8. If you were counting the current GSL (which Stats is still in) that would also be 8. Counting both makes 9.

Those are all the events in 2017 WCS that Stats could win.

I think the tournament number is 8 or 9 should not a big deal here, the question is he can win 2-3 of them or not.

Most likely 1, 2-3 would be pretty surprising and would make him the best player around.

We'll see, the best part is Koreans have more tournaments they can play than last year, but this also means players like Stats better prove themselves right now before it become more embarrassing.

3 GSL
2 SSL
2 Afreeca Super cup
1 Korea vs the World
1 Blizzcon

with the way stats has played he has to win at least 1-2 of those if he doesn't slump.

Yes, I almost forget this one, I think it contains individual tournament as well this year. So there are 10 tournaments in total which is more than sufficient to let any player improving his championship number.

Just looking at how many tournaments there are, the WCS is gonna be so tough. now that it's just top 8 instead of top 16 for korea. It's normally like 4000ish points to get a place at blizzcon, we're only a couple months in and top 8 is already 2000 minimum.

Who do people think will get through? Stats TY and Inno should have it. There's still Dark, soO, classic, sOs, aLive, byuN, ryung, maru, Zest etc and only a couple can get it. Gonna be so stacked by the end of the year.
