The tournament has certainly come together in the best way possible, but in terms of game quality I would rate multiple tournaments above it, narratively also at least a few

The trick is to call it something else, like you do with other races, and then everything is peachy again

Yea. Noone is being bitter over forGG 1 base all-inning 3 times in a row to cheese out the better macro player, but when Protoss does it it's suddenly time to burn down the thread.

"the better macro player". In tvt if you can't defend until at least the 10min mark you're a bad player, period. 1 base play is totally legit.

Thanks for demonstrating my point. Different measures for the same thing.

I don't think Polt is the better macro player

in TvP for sure

how can you be so sure ? When is the last time we saw Polt play a high level TvP ? He claims to be awesome in the mu, but I don't remember the last time he backed that claim.

The way he toyed with Harstem was hilarious. Current TvP is basically heaven for Polt, MMM(M) all day and multi pronged attacks/basetrades.

ah yeah it's true he looked quite good vs Harstem. Sad we won't get to see him vs MaNa and Lilbow.

Would've destroyed both imo, he opens with 3rax so he doesn't die to blink and lilbow isn't exactly great at multitasking. No need to talk about Mana i think :p

Not sure how you can say that. How many real, quality macro games have there been? Lots of one and two basing going on, feels like WoL.
It's spelled LOSE not LOOSE.

IEM cologne with Polt's run was excellent for both metrics.

there is not much to discuss ? We already knew what ForGG/Lilbow needed to do, and they're both on their ways.

I mean the discussion about the fact that those are going to Blizzcon while others like soO won't.

I just have to say I am extremely impressed to see so many foreigners in the ro8. MANA!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not. Have you seen the bracket for this tournament? The Koreans have all been killing each other, the only real foreign victory in the entire tournament has been Lilbow vs Hydra. Polt and ForGG matching up in the Ro16 had HUGE implications since they were two of the favorites to win the whole thing.

Maybe you haven't watched very closely, but Lilbow beat ForGG and got the first place in the group before ForGG and Jeadong (whom he also beat), hence ForGG went up vs Polt. Of course, Lilbow was a bit unlucky drawing hydra who also failed to win his group.

ForGG has been 1 basing since the moment he came over from Brood War and promised he'd win his first season of GSL. I'm pretty sure he did 1/1/1 in every matchup for his first year in sc2 and 100% in TvT and TvZ

soO's problem with code B was inevitably going to bite him in the end. His GSL/SSL performance this year is awful sadly.

IEM Cologne was the best tournament I've ever watched. I watch for good games in the end, and IEM Cologne had enough for a whole year

Also HerO obviously

When ever people say TvP is Polt's best match up I wonder if that's against Korean Protoss or foreign as the likes of Zest, Hero (CJ Entus), Dear etc... are leagues above our mob.

First criterion of the quality of a tournament should be the quality of the games, and we're just not there.

Blizzcon was a thousand times more exciting, nearly every series was great.

Polt level is quite bad compared to the top korean resident, I think it's evident for everyone.

how to call it ?

You have at least two whole languages for that, the world is your limit my friend

If we were to really unleash our vocabulary of adjectives to describe protoss, the LR pages would be splattered with the red ban text of fallen Zerg freedom fighters

Its not only the Zergs.
I will never understand why blizzard decided to give a lesser players so many possibilities to win against a better player. I hate almost all the BS tactics, no matter the race. One Cheese per race is fine I guess, but there is so much to choose from as toss, and it even got worse with LOTV. It really keeps me from loving sc2 anymore.
It of course gets more frustrating the less skill you have. Since the allin does somehow often have an advantage, and not "defenders advantage", I lose on ladder quite often to players that never scout, have a third of my apm, in the replay it shows they are not understanding the game at all, just blindly playing their build... things like that shouldn't work. "Scout more" is the biggest BS tip ever heard, sometimes even pros don't scout hidden BS...
