Quality of the games and of the players it qualifies for Blizzcon instead of Korea based household names, of course, is just not there. I am not convinced that it does anything to help the foreigner scene. If anything, all it does is reward foreign players with Blizzard money and WCS points for winning weaker tournaments. This is something that the foreign scene SHOULD be able to provide for itself via grass roots LANs and online Tournaments like it did when SC2 was when its prime. The problem is that fans don't care about tournaments that lack the WCS prestige anymore, it's a notable drawback to WCS being introduced in the first place. These same fans are willing to engage in cognitive dissonance when they support tournaments like this one that have the WCS title attached but very little of the actual competitive spirit to back it up. There are already threads on Reddit about whether or not Lilbow is the next Stephano and whether or not he could compete in the GSL, it's simply laughable. He beat Hydra in a single Bo5, Hydra is a weak low tier Korean compared to the likes of Byul, Solar, soO or even Dongraegu, the concept that Lilbow could compete with actual top tier Koreans because he took one series off of Hydra is simply laughable. It makes people happy, but it's all based on a blissfully ignorant illusion of what SC2's professional scene actually looks like. The current structure of WCS caters to this, to make these fans happy. I don't like it. I would rather call a spade a spade and call this tournament what it actually is: a welfare check for the foreign scene.

Lilbow probably making it to Blizzcon and kicking Dark out drives me mad. But I have to acknowledge that that's what people want, that's what made the crowd wild yesterday. So if that blissful ignorance and one or two one-sided first rounds at Blizzcon are all I have to bear for my cherished game to flourish, so be it.

I don't like it. I would rather call a spade a spade and call this tournament what it actually is: a welfare check for the foreign scene. Agree. And that's precisely where you realise what is good with welfare. It can help a scene who would otherwise die to grow and in the end the whole game can benefit from it.

Well, get real, guys. PenguiN made Code S. MC made Code S. RagnaroK made Code S. Sleep made Code S. Pigbaby made Code S. Trust, Stork, Hack made Code S. Making Code S once is not that big of an achievement, and yes, all the foreign hopes we had in HotS (Stephano, NaNiwa, Scarlett, Snute, Lilbow) could have made Code S at their peak. At least I think so ; the sad thing being that it can't be proved. Well yes, that is the reason why i called some player who were in Code S (korean ones) not Code S players (hello MC). There is always the chance that you have an easy bracket, etc. My point is that i absolutely don't think that Lilbow would do much in Code S, even in an easier Ro32 group. I mean i think it's great that people who only cheer for foreigners can get excited again, but i think people overvalue lilbow's skill greatly nonetheless.

Although the people who overvalue Lilbow's skill are probably around the same number as those who undervalue it. But that doesn't justify shitting on foreigners and WCS at any chance you get (not directed particularly at you but at a whole lot of people in LRs, don't get me wrong). I think anyone on TL is conscious that WCS is not GSL and that Hydra is no soO. Thus there is no need to constantly remind that WCS players are shit and that they wouldn't stand a chance in GSL - something that can't be proved either way, so something that is utterly useless to discuss about. And at the guy saying that players from WCS won't do shit at BlizzCon : yeah, it's not like the runner-ups of the last two BlizzCons were from WCS AM, right?
