Mech is strong cause zerg have no solid answer atm so everyone goes mech.
Once zerg get used to dealing with mech well enough we will see more bio again.

But 4M used to be quite strong and is strong still, so why not use it at least half of time? Maybe the new maps, but some maps in play are pretty old...

I think it's just that the map pool favors mech at the moment (Terraform especially), meanwhile Zergs have gotten really at taking no damage early game and completely dominate the map with builds like 2 base mutalisk.

Not completely sure what you mean but the point is that if you can build up your mech army you'll get yourself a rather big advantage in the late game. So to answer your question: People like to win?
It's a bit like when the queen got buffed in WoL. This made it so Zergs could savely tech up to BL Infestor.

Yeah the soO 2 hatch muta is really crazy it skips a bane nest in favor of constant queen produciton stomps hellbat pushes easily has a high drone count and crazy creep
