1 continued criticism that plagues all these events.
the breaks between sets is far too long.

for LIVE SC2 eSports to even have a prayer of main stream acceptance this has needed to be fixed and never was.
its part of the reason SC2 eSports never really did hit mainstream.

and if the organization running the event accepts that there will be long breaks then make it Part ESPN/ Part Game Show because talking heads between matches does not cut it.

all this is pretty much too late any how.. but it still does continue to be an issue.

other than the "too long breaks" the event was great.

Well they add funny videos with incontrol and the archon matches. So it's a start.

yes, good point.
its clear they know its an issue and they are trying things to fix it and some of them do work.

Congrats Hydra, might be the best Zerg right now.

In wcs, sure.
Overall? No way

I wouldn't say he's far off though, I mean the Korean Zergs aren't very impressive right now. Byul is probably better, but I'd say Hydra is top 5 for sure.

Hard to say anyway, we will see at Blizzcon maybe.

you can't compare the korean zergs who do exceptionally well in gsl and ssl against top notch koreans to hydra stomping a bunch of foreigners.

Thank you.

I am honestly shocked by the discussion of Hydra being a top zerg after this win. These are the same people that say WCS doesn't count. Polt is an actual SC2 legend but no one tried to call him a top terran after winning last season. Hydra gets his first win in the weakest region and suddenly he's a top zerg. Someone even mentioned that Hydra has the ability to make ro8 GSL. Why? He didn't do it when he was on a Kespa team. Now he can because he beat Lilbow....?

WCS system is so flawed still... No way should any foreigner be in the top 16 aside from Polt and Hydra. But you guys said Polt played like Prime so that isn't a good sign. Guess he'll need to go back to Korea to actually stand a chance against good Koreans?

1 bad series doesn't mean very much, especially when Polt just beat him 3 months ago. Polt gets disrespected a lot for a guy who at his peak was a God at this game. He is still more than capable of beating good players.

Its easy enough to break up the event into uneven scheduled matches.

For example:

Group A starts at 900am and is expected to play for 4 hours
Group B starts at 915am and is expected to play for 4 hours
Group C starts at 930am and is expected to play for 4 hours
Group D starts at 945am and is expected to play for 4 hours

Then jump back and forth between two of the groups while someone takes notes on the other two.

Show a primary group, jumping to the secondary group if there is lag time. And if there is lag time for the two primary groups then you have talking heads updating us on the third and fourth group.

Another Example:

Double elimination. Have winners bracket start game 1 and losers bracket start after game 1 ends. That way, we watch losers bracket during the downtime for the next match, then jump back to the winners bracket match whenever they are ready.

Etc...
