You think we'll get a Life/Bomber/PartinG/Curious group? I dunno about that...
Well you can't get that group because Life and PartinG are the highest seeded players along with herO and INnoVation and will have their own separate groups.

Same. I just remember Innovation never being the same after Maru 4-0'ed him in record time back at the OSL. It was a fun hour. But I imagine he'd want revenge for that, granted it was some time ago.

I find it pretty surprising that they only have 2 tournament meetings. Beside the OSL they've only managed to meet once in Proleague and never in GSL. I guess brackets just never worked out that way

They even were in the same Ro16 group in season 3 last year. It just so happened that PartinG was in the group and sent Maru to the loser's match.

IIRC it's highest seed first and lowest seed last, so it should be Life (champion) --> PartinG (runner-up) --> herO (semi-finalist) --> INnoVation (highest seeded player eliminated last Ro8).

My dream is that INno gets a Maru, sOs and ByuL group and announces his comeback by piling up their corpses after a glorious slaughter reminiscent of GSL 2013 GoD. But then I wake up to reality and cry knowing Inno will prob go out 0-4

If it does happen, though, my predictions are: herO < Life Dream < Maru Life < Maru herO > Dream Life > herO

I think at the end of the last broadcast they showed a graph saying the highest seeded players were Life, PartinG, herO and INnoVation. Which would be champion, runner-up, semifinalist and highest seeded player eliminated in the last ro8. Could be imagining things tho.
First time watching a group selection... somewhat disappointed this takes close to 2 and a half hours. It reminds me of drafts in the major North American sports leagues: the first round or two takes 3-4 hours.
After Life beat him in IEM Taipei, Dark smashed him in IEM Katowice, Dear beat him in SPL, Parting Rekting him and making him a baby for the whole first half of the year, after Byul beat him in SPL playoffs and KeSPa Cup AND AFTER herO eliminated him in SSL yesterday night, really?????? free win? You're joking

Not the biggest fan of them letting the translator do the hosting of the English stream for this event. Like, couldn't they have gotten Artosis or Tasteless or one of the Salmon guys to make it more entertaining? Leaving it to 1 person seems like a silly idea.

if I were there among the 16 (in a parallel universe that could happen) I'd walk on stage, grab the mic, say I don't care who I'm gonna face, call all other players chobo, drop mic and walk out

Hopes to eliminate Maru via Bomber, probably, while having "easy" matches himself.
The much simpler solution would be to just take maru out of his group. Him trying to eliminate him via proxy by bomber is a convoluted plan worthy of supervillian who never wins.

It's not even just getting Bomber to eliminate him. If they are in the same group he could only play vs Maru in the finals, that's a potential danger on his way to the finals eliminated. Since he obviously thinks the other 2 won't stop him.

Well both theories are valid, and they don't get in the way of each other. Perhaps a mix of both.

If Life swapped Maru/Curious, he would've guaranteed himself 1st place and the only hard opponent in his bracket would be winner of Group C. Life wouldn't meet Maru unless he won Group C, and it wouldn't be that much harder than herO/ByuL/Dream
Now, it's harder to get first and he has pretty much the same bracket scenario. He risks getting 2nd and having PartinG in his side and also 2nd place of group C.

You can always lose to stupid bullshit, Life is running the risk of getting 2nd no matter what, he's running the risk of PartinG getting 2nd place in D no matter what etc. Don't make the matches for the Ro8 before the groups are played. And the fact that he kept Maru in his group, therefore eliminating him from his side of the bracket, shows me he respects him as an opponent more so than Dream, ByuL etc. There was no way he could avoid all herO, PartinG and Maru in his half of the bracket completely anyway, but he could make sure to get rid of Maru, and that's what he did.

The bracket and results were the exact same from Ro8 on, with Bbyong replacing TY, Bomber replacing MMA and ByuL replacing Solar, yes.
But I'm expecting to be denied the dream finals again.
Also, is it a coincidence that GuMiho jumped to top 2 Terran ELO on TL after PartinG said he was a top 5 Terran?
Only reason parting calls him top5 terran is to make his own accomplishments seem greater than they actually are lop. Also TL ELO has rain as a top4 player haha
