I'm not quite sure what to think of Terminator. He qualifies for a lot of stuff but he seems to be pretty hit or miss when it comes to playing in the studio

O.o so true! Are we sure it isn't a pic of TY? it looks like him, same facial structure and all
If you write Pigbaby backwards it spells ybabgiP which begins with the same first letter as TY spelled backwards (YT) so I wouldn't be surprised if they were clones or something

Whoops the orientation is off. I'm not driving out there again though. Utility people already working on it
Imagine it rotated 90 degrees counter clockwise. It looks like what fantasy is going to do to pigbaby's colossi
Did Khaydarin Amulet come back from the Void in your area?
Yeah but the storm was very short lived. Patched out in under an hour
GG ez Man (or should I say Robot), you post so much haha. I swear you had only 50k a few months ago. When do you plan to reach 100k?
I've actually been posting a lot less in the last year or so. I haven't been able to catch as many broadcasts cause I've been busy. I don't think I've made a thread for sc2 since August maybe. I'm still years away from 100k even if I had kept up my pace from when I was doing threads and live reporting a bunch. I think I've only caught 1 of the first 6 days of code a live

You hit 53k in mid-December 2013, the same day I reached 10k. Assuming we keep up about the same rate as we have since then, you'll reach 100k in August 2016 and I'll reach 100k in late 2017.

Not sure if it works these days, however it produces the GSL stream in like 720p quality for free but it lags sometimes. Useful though if it works and you have high bandwidth capabilities.

Fantasy > Pigbaby Terminator > HerO Soulkey > Creator
Terminator is the only upset I'm projecting from the TL write up. I just think that Terminator has proved he can play at a level necessary for individual leagues recently while HerO hasn't.
Can't say I'm necessarily a fan of HerO but I'm rooting for him just for the chance we get to see both heroes in GSL. herO has some payback to serve after all those losses in Proleague in 2013. B)

it's common to do 3-stalker openings because they are really the best vs marine pokes and vs early drops

Fantasy's TvP is really good actually.
It actually is, he's been bullying Rain with it a lot recently. Not good enough to beat PartinG, but still pretty good.
Rain and PartinG are on opposite ends of the Protoss scale. Rain is the macro, defensive very unbullshit kind of Protoss and PartinG is very high on the bullshit tactics scale. That might play into it.

PartinG is the best defensive bullshit tactician in SC2 tho. Like, mine drops do nothing to him even when he's doing weird bullshit across the map. And he's also pretty damn good in macro if he so chooses. He must be the single most annoying player to prepare for in a tournament, bar $O$. Has doesn't count because preparing is pointless.

Wait, Soulkey was 8.xx to win first map? Can you confirm that? Did you take a screenshot? ffs, that's so obvious especially when he was the favourite for the series.

Can someone confirm if the Soulkey Map 1 price was 8.xx like that guy said? Soulkey was a fav in map 1 a few mins before they took the line down

Morrow vs Hydra was 1 to 5 iirc?
Soulkey was roughly -300 favourite before the line movement and around -200 for Map 1 from memory which seemed about right
Still unclear what the line movement was, did Soulkey become an 8-1 favourite or underdog in map 1? Either is ridiculous obviously but it changes who the suspect is

Okay so overall match of Soulkey - Creator had odds as I remember ~1.6 on soulkey winning and ~2.x on creator winning. However the Map 1 odds were 8x on Soulkey winning. I realize my post before was completely wrongly worded. I did not get to screenshot as I was trying to bet myself and wasn't allowed since it kept updating lines (with odds being even more skewed) - and then shortly after the entire match dissapeared.

I dont get why they would ask Creator to throw his game. He's very unlikely to win anyway, so everyone will be betting on SK. Don't get too much profit out of that, right?

The game hasn't happened yet and all bets have been refunded. I wasn't watching the lines live i'm trying to get the info on whether the suspicious money was bet on Creator or Soulkey
Was watching the lines. I posted it earlier but Map 1 had 8x on soulkey to win. So im betting Soulkey is gonna lose first map
What happens to parleys when they cancel a match?
Can you please clarify the betting price on both Soulkey and Creator for map 1, this post is unclear
By 8x you mean 8.00 on Soulkey meaning he was the underdog? If so that's incredibly damning Or do you mean the price is 8.00 on Creator?

You don't realise the amount of money that has to be bet in order for the betting lines to change so drastically... If you bet a couple ten thousands the profit will be large enough.

depends on how much you bet. if it is a sure thing, might as well bet a million and cash your 10% return

I think the principle is that you want to make sure that the non-favored player loses. I mean it is always possible that SK has a bad day and Creator practiced a fuckton for this match, and ends up winning. And then you lose a lot of money if you didn't make sure Creator would lose. Even if you get a small return on your bet, you still get a 100% certain return. I mean take ForGG vs MarineLord. MarineLord had, like, 20% chances of winning that Bo5? Less than that maybe? Yet someone betting a lot on ForGG would have been very very close to losing his money.

No it isn't if you think that you don't understand math and statistics let along the observations of numerous pros who agreed with the analysis.
On topic
It doesn't matter if the favourite or underdog is guaranteed to lose if a match if it is fixed it is free money betting on the other player regardless of the odds. Marineking was never a favourite against Byul, but when Byul got bet in from 1.70 to 1.07 someone knew he was going to win in a bo1.
If either Soulkey or Creator is 8.00 in ANY map in a bo1 it's 99% likely to be match fixing. Soulkey was only a 3 to 1 favourite for the series let alone a single map.

It was mostly ppl saying the same things over and over again though, with the occasional "MK is 100% sure innocent !" or "MK should be burned at the stake RIGHT NOW" thrown in. Not saying that it was a bad thread, there were interesting things said, but most were drowned in a mass of useless posts. Like the useful vs useless posts ratio was 1/20. Maybe 1/10 with extended tolerance.

Betting will happen regardless of whether through regulated sportsbooks or illegal sportsbooks. The key is for Kespa to get their house in order and punish players who participate in match fixing.

PvZ is not very hype right now. Give me Soulkey in TvZ and I'll be hyped.
Can't see why either. PvZ has been sick for all of HotS. Might even turn out to be better now without agonizing SH games.
I don't consider +2 blink stalker into killing the Zerg sick after seeing it 100 times, sorry. PvZs often just don't turn into an interesting game.
What? PvZ easily has the most variety of any matchup in sc2 right now.
That doesn't make the games interesting by itself at all. Just because they have a variety of options doesn't mean they use them to their full potential. Especially if just hitting a "timing" is generally enough to end the game.

Yeah I saw that post, i'm not sure if he meant the map 1 odds were 8x as likely for soulkey to win, or the soulkey odds were 8.00 meaning creator was 8x as likely to win and just wanted clarification on the matter

It's pretty impossible for a player to only be a 3-1 favourite to win a best of 5 series, but 8-1 to win a specific map. The favourite is always more likely to win a longer series than a single map. I'm still not clear on which player all of the money was bet on from KOVU's wording.

Well either Soulkey was the legit 8-1 favourite in that one map or the fact that the bets were voided caused them to abandon their plans? I dunno, Kev.

That the betting scene had a false positive where betters jumped onto the Soulkey train, Creator's build was leaked, or Creator isn't going to lose on purpose.

Apparently I'm an idiot with explaining odds. The way the odds showed was that betting 1$ on Soulkey winning map 1 would give back 8$ if he won.
In that regard the Map 1 odds showed that Soulkey was by far the underdog. But the odds for the entire series Creator was the underdog according to the odds.
Bare in mind that the odds changed from Soulkey favored to BIG underdog within a short period of time.

Yeah. Ok. So Soulkey was the match fixing suspect and went from a 2-1 favourite to 8-1 underdog then lost.
That sucks, I was hoping we weren't right and Creator was 8.00 but if Soulkey paid 8.00 in Map 1 and lost it was fixed

It just feels like people here are totally okay with just accepting that SK is matchfixing, and it's weird. Fair enough that subtle mistakes can lead to a loss without anyone being able to say it was intentional, but I don't get why he's instantly a matchfixer now.

People are quick on jumping onto this, but they aren't doing it because of how the game played out, but because the outcome confirmed the betting lines.

Yup. I don't see why he wouldn't know the bets are off. Ofc he would then try his best.
Just speculating: if he head planned to throw by failing a cannon rush he might not have had any other builds prepared. Might as well do the throw build without the planned mistakes. I know it's not really any proof, but the fact that this game was cannon rush makes the yet again accusation of fixing a match more propable than a "normal" build would.
On side not fueling this fire with 0 official reactions keeps gnawing the respectability of the scene little by little. KeSPA / Blizzard really should do/say something as the issue doesn't seem to be fading away on it's own like they are hoping. I'd prefer anything over the silence at this point.
edit: apparently the lines were the other way around (for SK to throw)... the rest of what I wrote still stands.

No, KOVU stated that Soulkey was a huge underdog in the first place but a bunch of people didn't understand what he meant because he didn't use normal betting terminology (hence me asking for clarification a bunch of times)
I'm one of those people, sorry everyone.
This matchfixing thing and the total silence from tournament organizers, teams AND Blizzard just really pisses me off. It will be the death of the korean SC2 scene.

Hey Swoopea, did you send an email to Pinnacle for this one?
Not until after they cancelled the bets. I was only aware of it because I had a bet on the match through sheer chance. I didn't actually see the absurd line movement on Creator to win map 1 making soulkey an 8-1 underdog in map 1 but a favourite for the series
So sad that a GSL champion is a match fixer. A giant fuck you to Kespa for not doing anything to clean their house.

The beauty of match-fixing is that except when very nervous players are involved, it does NOT scream match-fixing. It's easy to lose by making small mistakes.
It just feels like people here are totally okay with just accepting that SK is matchfixing, and it's weird. Fair enough that subtle mistakes can lead to a loss without anyone being able to say it was intentional, but I don't get why he's instantly a matchfixer now.

You'll have to understand what those line movements in the bets mean. I isn't that hard to understand. I was in the same place as you about this until I took the time to understand.

The likelyness of something like that happening by chance is probably less than 1%
'Our last line for the match on Soulkey was -219 and on Map 1 Creator was -290'
This means that Soulkey was more than a 2-1 favourite to win the series, but Creator was a 3-1 favourite to win the first map. Obviously this is pretty much impossible without the first map being fixed and also explains Soulkey going from a 3-1 favourite where the odds started to a 2-1 favourite overall.
Can we just clear this from match fixing or something? I'm here to enjoy starcraft II , I don't care to listen to people speculate about match fixing... =\

That matchfixing occurs in Korea has been proved on multiple occassions. This is something that we know, it's not just guesswork. However, I think we need to calm down with the accusations some. We should be upset and demand some kind of official statement and investigation, but there's no point to damn a player without actual evidence.

Unlikely I guess, but it also sounds stupid to me that people would make the matchfixing so obvious that the betting sites can easily identify it and void everything.

I just don't think it's right to up and accuse players of matchfixing when not one person has come forward and shown any actionable info.

How about a player not scouting for proxy hatch after scouting late pool and gas and no expansion?

No, saying "But the betting patterns were TOTALLY suspicious!" is NOT sufficient proof to outright accuse a player of matchfixing.

I don't think so, certainly they can play out a "close" game to dodge the claim too.

Lets say it like this. Is there any player you think have a huge advantage on a specific map but a big disadvantage in a series (that includes that map)?
It doesn't exist. The only explanation is that somebody bet A LOT of money on Soulkey losing map one.
So why would someone do that? Even if they knew Creator had a super build for the map, it's not that strange to see Soulkey holding it off. After all, he is the favourite.
No, the only sensible reason someone would do it is if they KNEW Soulkey would lose that map.
Only one way to know that
Oh, no, I just didn't get the numbers. I get what they mean sorta, people have said that a couple of times in the thread, I just don't get what the numbers are. Or what a line is.
Ah ok! Say Creator is a 3 to 1 favourite. If you bet 100 dollars on Soulkey, you get 300 dollars back if he wins. If you bet 100 dollars on Creator, you get 100/3=~33 dollars back if he wins.
This is why I don't understand Korean match fixing. With some of the these ridiculous odds would the payout be awful even if it is guaranteed money? Wouldn't it make more sense to rig it so the heavy underdog wins?
The odds don't matter if a player is 100% to win it's literally free money
Also, Creator was paying +200 for map 1 when the bets started, the lines are dynamic not fixed. So much money was bet on Creator he closed at -290 according to Pinnacle and may have been even higher at some point

Basically to put this in say tennis terms, this is like Nadal being a 3-1 favouite over Hewitt to win the match but Hewitt is a favourite to win the first set. It makes no sense.
SC2 has maps that have a huge effect on a single game, so it´s really not the same.
Maps have 5% effect on the game at best, we are talking about a solid favorite turning into 30% (or worse) underdog. If you dont have a clue about the betting you shouldnt post foolish comments.

Would be nice if any tournament organizer, team OR Blizzard said anything about it then. Like "we're investigating" or "we've seen proof it's nothing".
The total silence makes me think they all know it's going on, but no-one wants to say anything because it might hurt the scene.
The problem is that eventually it will not only hurt it, but destroy the Korean Starcraft 2 scene.
Has this sort of thing been happening a lot lately? I haven't really been following for... a couple of years.
:|
This is the 5th time bets have been cancelled in a couple months and there were multiple other matches that were suspicious.
And no statements at all from officials?
That's just dumb.
MVP promised to give a statement about the MK match yesterday but didn't :/
On April 15 2015 21:24 DBooN wrote: [quote] The likelyness of something like that happening by chance is probably less than 1%
So?
I'm not gonna damn anyone till there's an official statement following an investigation. It's not my place to decide whether or not the match really was fixed, and who were involved. It's shady as shit, sure, but what if SK wasn't involved?
the problem is that offical statements are not happening. match fixing in korea is well known to insiders
To who? Give me sources, show me the proof.
Repeating stuff you heard on Twitter or saw in a thread somewhere is *NOT* proof.
to guys like rekrul or inuh there is no 100% proof because investigations are not happening
Has there been actual, verifiable proof to implicate specific players in matchfixing? If so, why hasn't it been made public? Why keep sitting on it? If no one is investigating, post the proof publicly to force organizations to take action.
I just don't think it's right to up and accuse players of matchfixing when not one person has come forward and shown any actionable info.
I agree that its wrong to accuse single players. but the match fixing in korea wont stop if everyone just does nothing and waits
Sure, I agree. So the people with all this supposed evidence need to start presenting it, and force organizations into action.
I've been holding my breath on that supposedly scene-shattering article about matchfixing that was supposed to come out and ruin the whole Korean scene and, well, I'm getting a little dizzy from lack of oxygen over here.
It will probably never happen because it would mean bad publicity if they were to confirm match fixing happening...
I think it's more likely that all this "proof" people supposedly have is not nearly as iron clad as it's made out to be.
No, it is, you just don't understand the proof because you are not a sportsbettor. A multibillion dollar corporation's fraud team as well as progamers including Kane, Welmu, Huk and Rekrul agree with us.

No, saying "But the betting patterns were TOTALLY suspicious!" is NOT sufficient proof to outright accuse a player of matchfixing.

San, Marineking, Super Map 1, Innovation Map 1 and Soulkey today to my knowledge

you should also keep track of the suspicious activity that didn't pan out, just so data is complete

You have proof that the bets were fucky. What you need is proof from the game showing some sort of suspicious play, or something directly linking SK to the odd betting patterns.
Yeah, once again "omg the bets looked like,...SO WEIRD guys" is absolutely not proof that you can use to accuse a certain player of matchfixing or not.
That's like finding a thief in your house that's stealing something and assuming he just wanted to return it after he caught someone else trying to steal it, there is no 100%
So far the "proof" everyone has been trying to use is like...15-20% at best, though.
no it's above 99% if you understand maths
I understand the math and the betting just fine, but it's not proof that the players themselves were involved in any sort of matchfixing. For that you need to show me evidence of money changing hands and conversations/contact with people doing this sort of matchfixing stuff.
I'm sorry, but betting lines and all the probability/math associated with that are NOT ENOUGH to say with any sort of confidence that "Yes, Soulkey is almost definitely matchfixing."

The one case that occurred was Terror vs Byul and the steam was much, much smaller (Terror became a very small favourite). I suspect that was the match fixers trying to throw Pinnacle's algorithm off but can't confirm anything.
TeamLiquid should request another interview with Pinnacle, they answered my tweet just a few minutes ago. Their fraud prevention team could answer questions with more complete information than I could.

Wait, what happened in the last game? I saw soulkey on the gold, creator shooting down his own rocks with a bunch of sentries, and the commentators (as usual) saying nothing about what is happening but instead just repeating how impossible it is for players X (X = creator here) to win the game. I leave a few mins, and I see a happy creator taking his headphones off. wut?

Creator controlled his army really well and killed Soulkey after SK lost his gold base.

Creator had so many sentries he made a new map with them. And that map was pretty bad for roach/ling army, so SoulKey lost.

that affects entire bo5 though
That's true. But the way Soulkey played in the rest of the games, I don't think it would've been different, even if the first map was "matchfixed"
Seeing as how I've never had this icon before in my life, I think I'm going to leave liquibets alone and enjoy this as much as possible since I voted for Terminator instead of HerO.
