That's to be expected, isn't it? The in-form player sweeping the Proleague scene, getting into both GSL and NSSL (although getting out in Ro32/Ro16) versus a guy who didn't really play official match since like November. Who wants to retire. Everyone is betting on Dark, that's to be expected.

It's incorrect to say that he wasn't paying attention to WM drops; he WAS paying attention, it just so happened that at the moment that the medivacs boosted in and dropped the mines, he was microing his oracles. And there's a point at which, if he does notice the mines, he can't pull his probes or you risk them bunching up and a mine getting a huge shot off, so he is basically forced to just leave them mining as is to minimize damage. Not sure what your'e talking about 'leaving his colossi sitting around completely undefended,' I saw him split his forces as best possible (stalkers in the main, zealots/colossi at the third) given the information he had. It's just that if you don't do something cheesy to put the Terran on the back foot, or to kill a bunch of SCVs early, Terran is extremely strong in the mid-game against Protoss. If you do what Rain did - sit back and play that respectful macro style - you're essentially forced into making zero mistakes, or you're just dead against a decent Terran.

Losing that many probes is a lot more cost-inefficient than losing the oracles+he had time to move command his probes out of the way

G1: Rain defended marine/hellion very well, then lost 12 probes to mine drop while microing his oracles, then died to SCV pull G2: Rain opened blink/robo, Fantasy opened 2 hellion scout -> standard 3rax, Rain fell super far behind. Played very very well to stay alive but sheer numbers by Fantasy were too much G3: unscouted 2rax vs cancelled zealot -> nexus
