Zest < herO herO looking pretty unstoppable right now. I'd say he's the best Korean protons in the world. Good macro, good micro, good decision making. MC is a true God of Protoss and even herO managed to beat him. If that doesnt say "best Protoss on earth" then I don't know what does. Zest is in an unrecoverable slump right now anyways. The combination of zest being in one of the biggest slumps ever plus herO being the best Protoss in the world makes me favor herO.
Flash < byul well, flash isn't trying that hard these days. Actually I think KT is just letting him stick around for the fans. But oh well let's hope flash surprises us.
Life > Bbyong. The best player in the world against a player with no tournament wins. It's pretty obvious who will win.
Stats > sora. Sora is in a slump. He has been for months. Stats has been a rising star lately so.... yeah
Ace: Life > herO life already completely destroyed herO and knocked him out of the GSL. Life will definitely beat herO Again. Life is just a monster that can't be stopped at all
i remember when Flash started playing sc2 and i said he'll never win a GSL. people were shouting at me all over the place. now even casters are like "Flash is gonna play... i don't think he's gonna be any good".

I love how Flash bounces between being over rated and under rated.

soO didn't want to show a 2 hour turtle game to the viewers so maxed on corrptors BL killed yoda's army then pulled back instead of camping starports. Oh and he lost all his drones in the mean time. 75 corruptors were fun to see tho.

do NOT watch this game. You will be bored. And as a Zerg player suicidial. But a little glad too to have another example why you need to SH turtle against Mech. But mostly you will hate the game and blizzard for not fixing Mech.

threads even funnier now given Flash's sc2 results.

Zest spawns in the top left herO spawns in the bottom right
2:00 Gateway for both players, herO's first gas is slower but second gas is slightly faster. Cybernetics core for both players.
3:00 Zest scouts with a probe, checking for proxies. If there was a proxy 2 gate in this game herO would have already lost. Zest hides a stargate below his main base. Mothership core for both players. herO getting a stalker.
4:00 herO also getting a stargate. Zest building a stalker. Oracle being chronoboosted out for Zest.
5:00 herO's stalker takes shield damage from the MSC and retreats. Zest expands. herO adds two gateways. herO sees the oracle when it's halfway across the map. Oracle forces a photon overcharge but does nothing.

That was such a nonsensical attack by herO. Huge mistake by Zest not bringing his phoenixes home to deal with that or he'd have crushed it and been super far ahead.

herO isn't good at PvP just because he won a BO1 that Zest messed up in. I seem to recall several poor PvP losses not involving proxy gates lately, particularly against Stats in the NSSL >.>

Went from six to midnight as soon as that first DT strolled in. If Flash tries to proxy 2rax and fails, I think I might need to go see a doctor; it'll last at least four hours.
I always saw Flash's slump as starting in that IEM vs Parting. He got to the finals and was almost about to cement himself as one of the best and then he lost when he was so, so, so close. I just assumed that he didn't practice a lot after that and that his mentality went down.

That same heavy macro, low aggression style of TvZ that MarineKing used yesterday. Going higher on the tech units and faster expansions and staying at 5 rax for very, very long, until after 3 fact and DC is done. Is the metagame shifting?

Needs more Snutehosts imo. Asking again, is there any korean that has gone for SH vs bio?

It depends who you're playing, this style would be really risky against a Z that just makes 1bajillion banes.

Byul should have went in for the kill when he had the broodlords and flash didn't have anything else. Flash bought time to get vikings when he attacked Byul's 4th and 5th. Plus at the last part Byul didn't focus, lost all his ultras to marauders in the middle of the map, lost half his broodlords that were destroying Flash's 4th because his mutas were away, etc etc.

Cure is doing this also I think
Cure did 8 rax before 4th in most of his recent online TvZ that I watched. He macroes ultra well tho so he can get a quick 4th if he max quickly.

the issue with the style is that you can only do it when you're ahead, and koreans just prefer to kill the other guy when they are ahead
Why doesn't it work vs a somewhat passive terran like this? Mutas to defend drops and the pressure 4th with SH.
Because the Korean Terran just kills you if you're transitioning into Swarmhosts, imo. It might work, if the Terran doesn't realize the transition, but as soon as he does, I think the Zerg's dead.

Is it though? As far as I can see, you'll have 1 marauder, 8 marines, 2 thors and 2 mines (or 4 mines, depending on shortly upgrades finishing) of production and a ton of sim city. I think you can quite easily hold a mass baneling YOLO move..?

You mean the series vs Snute? I only remember him as very passive in his opening and then tearing Snute apart later on. But it might have been with more rax focus

Flash has plenty of time to prepare and he could snipe bases way faster than broodlord taking down a PF
Ok, I may be brainlagging but the only featured stream on TL is the AZUBU one, which is usually the Korean one, if I'm not mistaken. Tho the commentaries on that one is also in english. I'm really confused

you delay quite a lot your prod so you can soak up the 1st wave but i'm not sure about the second. the 3marau prod helps quite a lot vs mass bane/low muta style (true does that all the time).
Sure if you hold you're in a very good spot but it'd be risky. Depends of the maps etc of course

I dunno, the 6-8th rax are delayed so they can't put out as much pressure as usual. I asked Snute on twitter, hopefully he responds!

I remember some 3 marau/10rines prod which is the 8rax setup. Will have to check (and in the kung fu qualifier too there are Cure games, it is so good to get tons of Cure vods these days)

You can max and then transition. :D When snute fails vs the magical korean terrans it cause he falls behind early on, if he enters the midgame on even footing he does well with the style.

You are gonna need some supply to build hosts. You'll need at least 8, preferably more for them to fulfill any purpose...

We even saw a mass baneling yolo this game and it did very little. (imo the point when ByuL gave away his lead and started falling behind) But I also don't think that this style is very strong. The zerg should be able to deny the 5th base (what ByuL didn't) with mass mutas (which ByuL hadn't) and get a pretty sick ultra/baneling/infestor deathball to go with it when you are that passive. And then it's a Terran that eventually has to attack because he can't get a 5th properly and the zerg has like 6bases but he has to fight into said deathball on creep.

I love this game.
yeah and these days there is so much stuff switching on all the T match ups, TvT openings, TvZ openings/mine drops/4th cc timings, TvP mine drop being the go to opening etc... Feels incredibly dynamic. then there is PvZ :D
Life (red) spawns in the bottom Bbyong (yellow) spawns in the top

Banshees and thors manage to clean Life's forces up. Life trying again with more roaches, focusing the thors this time. Two thors survive.
14:00 Life 130 vs Bbyong 159 Bbyong goes after Life's fourth and Life sacrifices it. The banshees are all still alive as there are only a few queens. Roaches focus down another thor but there are reinforcements. Hellbats are continuously cleaned up and replaced.

Yeah, it's the range that is the reason. Longer aa-range means they attack overlords before attacking roaches is possible.

Actually they did, because the roaches weren't in range. In fact, with micro Life would have died much earlier because of that.

Been disappointed with commentary in general today. The blatant mocking of flash (and kt in general) along with crediting life for flash's win rubbed me the wrong way.

It's not a far-fetched conclusion to assume that Life - best ZvT player in the world - may have helped Flash out tbh

Ah, like that. Well, that has near nothing to do with the air priority change.

Its obvious you get help from your teammates. However, when life won iem i'd didn't hear anyone saying life should tell bomber "thank you sensei".

5:00 herO's scouting probe is killed and Zest's nexus is placed down. Zest getting a dark shrine. Oracle for herO. Both players getting two more gateways.
There sometimes is the sound of the mothership shooting without the animation and without damage. Why is that? Does the same happen with Marauders/Stalkers and not Marines?

The stargate was a mistake. If he had added the robo instead of the stargate with his expansion or a little before the immortal count would have been even and the fight in the front could have been taken without overcharge support so he could focus a little defence on the back/main as well.

Really didnt understand the stargate.
I guess he saw herO already had 2 immortals and thought he had to find another way to get back in the game than simply going for the same tech 3 mins later... I m not an expert though...

ahaha, you will see it, JD will win blizzcon this year :D
yeah..... not happening, cuz Rain
How do you want Rain to even qualify if he can't make the playoffs of one KR league
well, at least Rain has MUCH MORE of a shot then Jaedong right??? At least he got in the GSL, sOs, Zest ans soO didn't even qualify for it, lol
It's true that Jaedong's level of play seem kinda worrying. The last time we saw him play he lost to puCK in a showmatch.
Yeah, and on top of that he, JD hasn't played in ANY tournaments (Gfinity which doesn't award WCS points), so yeah, lol, JD's chances are slimmer than they could be

No he was not. And a pvp loss is hardly proof... He made some weird decisions in game 1 today (why would he move the observer, he had phoenixes in the enemy base..) and lost to a thing called oracle. I mean i am worried a bit too, but shit happens... Let's just wait and see if he will qualify for gsl/ssl next season, that's imo the true indicator if he is in a big slump. I get that people expect more of him, but atm he simply isn't a top 3 toss and herO is.
Will be interesting to see who will play next week, i think TY didn't play today cause of his Code S match... But then again, Stats is on fire, Flash is Flash, Life is probably the best player in the world atm and the coaching team seems to think highly of Zest as well (ace). Not sure if there is really place for TY... (i hope so^^)
It was already somewhat of a curse when flash wins the other lose and the other way around.
I am glad seeing Flash is doing fine again (at least one game, but this one game he didn't look completely off), I hope the teamchange of Life will help him (Life) and therefore the otheers.
Hmm, looks like Zest is still in his slump. I am afraid for his future. Is he a Seed/Dear/Classic? I was hoping not since he won a tournament after his GSL win. But I guess I was wrong. Zest is in a slump unlike the SC2 scene has ever seen in our lives. Zest is heading towards no where good. I guess if you are at the top, the only place you can go is down.
Flash, on the other hand, is on an upswing. I would not be surprised if he qualified for NSL and GSL next season as well as go to more foreign tournaments and win all of them. He is absolutely on fire right now. The way he beat Byul was better than Innovation during his unstoppable TvZ moments (sans vs. Soulkey) and Taeja during his 2012 domination. He is truly the best Terran in the world right now, bar none. If you did not see Flash's game, go see it now. It is proof that starting from today, he will not lose a single game anymore. I truly think that Flash has found his SC2 calling and cannot be stopped by anyone from yesterday on. From his play today, I can't see one Zerg in the world (maybe Life) that can beat Flash at all. He is at the top right now and I hope he will not fall down like Zest has.

I think swag_bro is in a slump as well tbh. I remember the glory days of his trolling like it was yesterday. One time after another he would produce great content, mix up some facts with humorous baits for the naive teamliquid user. The quality would vary from good to very good to best of the best, sometimes even a very best of the very best, always creating the satires with a smiling eye. But then it happened, swag_bro got banned for his most controversial piece of yet. He surely came back and started writing his usual player critiques after every big sc2 match. Most of the people didn't even realize there was something off, but the more trained eye instantly saw his work missed something these days. Love for his own work? Now there are conspiracy theories out there which conclude he might deliberately only produce mediocre content to make some fast cash, some money he otherwise would need to work hard for. I am not convinced, but i can say that there was better work in the past and i am sure he can totally get back to his usual level!

I'm not worried. Zest still has the potential to be #1. Ty and stats are solid. Flash played well. And life is still great. Just about keeping the team in shape. Wouldn't be surprised if KT started 3-0ing teams again.
It's so sad to see Life going through this massive slump lately. He used to be one of the best or even THE best but now it just seems like he isn't even trying.

I think he may win NSSL, but it doesn't look like he'll win GSL or IEM, so he'll miss his chance to be the best SC2 player of all time. So close, though.

haha....Life is in a slump alread? Winning a couple foreign tournaments and everyone thinks he's KT's ace. He's never that great to begin with, at least in proleague where skill is needed.

Anyhow, Flash is finally embracing the way of the widow mine. I swear he made more mines in this game than in any of his previous TvZ games combined.

No, I didn't do FPL; not a fan of the scoring system. I understand why they chose it, it's definitely one of and arguably the best possible option for such a league, but still, I'm not a fan since you just get points for showing up/being played.
I prefer to make simple predictions based off of analysis, without an arbitrary score system getting in the way. I think FPL is a a great idea, and an amazing creation, but it's not for me.

I completely disagree, I don't think the casters' talk shit' about Flash at all, they simply recount what happened in Round 1. I can see how that can be rage-inducing if you are a huge Flash fanboy, of course, but if anything, I think that casters as a whole - Wolf, Moonglade, and Brendan included - are actually too nice to Flash, compared to how they talk about certain other players. And Flash has certainly earned negative comments about his recent play, did you watch his games?
FPL is another story; putting Flash on anti will probably never be a good idea because KT will most likely never bench him despite how bad he is, just because he's Flash.

Or maybe he just had a bad round, and is actually fielded because he wins in-house?
Remember, Bisu, etc. were benched pretty often despite their star power; in proleague, you earn your starting spot by being one of the 4 best players on the team.

Ahh Zest, no lol. I guess Life is still the new ghost on the team, so they can't trust him with acey tasks yet. KT should stabilize within the next few weeks.

Proleague casters Wolf, Moonglade and Brendan (does he actually have a nickname? o.O) probably regret putting Flash on anti already. Such sweet justice since they spent so much time of the broadcast talking shit about his performances

You're starting to make me laugh ; this is a sign that you are approaching the swag_bro zone of being a funny troll that gets recognition. Keep on. As for FlaSh, I guess that the idea that teams could have in-house rankings that they use to decide who to field and who to bench is foreign to you.
