At last been waiting for this thread =) Looks like we didn't get any liquidbet for this group, which in truth feels good for me, such a hard group to call. I want TY to dominate but has kind of been playing so-so lately.

Wow just thought, if Life and Soulkey get out of this group they are vs Inno or MMA. So damn some epic TvZs confirmed for RO8 already in GSL hype!!!!!!
What else does Soulkey going for him than the name value? I am sensing another Flash syndrome here, he hasn't been relevant for more than a year now ...

Hmm think you missed a few games sir. He is in the RO16 GSL, he got 3/4th at the IEM Tapei lan. He also came 2nd in the last major Korean tournament (Hot6ix Cup) and January nothing much happened minus leagues starting aka NSSL and GSL. He is ranked 5th in WCS points too. I think you must only watch team league games where of course he is not playing in as he is on team that isn't involved in such competitions.
The only bad performance i can remember is losing in the RO32 vs Rogue in NSSL. Other than that he went 5-3 vs Yoda/MarineKing/San

2014 S1 Code S - ro16. 2014 S2 Code S - ro8. 2014 S3 Code S - ro16. IEM Taipei last week - ro4.

Only that was the 2013 Hot6ixCup, unless he secretly changed his handle to MarineKing for 2014. And that is his last >Ro8 performance in ANY tournament before the recent IEM. That really doesn't look to me like a record warranting 53 percents in a "logic" poll.
edit: TBH, this group is pretty unclear in my opinion, besides Life, there is not a strong favourite for the second spot. Luckily lichter messed up the LB

Still, who else is there to pick? YoDa who has been playing well recently but only recently and TY who you have no idea what to expect from him. Soulkey has been around the block and is doing fine again it seems.

guess it depends how much you like watching TvT
Yeah you're right. Not my favorite matchup but I still really enjoy watching TvT.
Haven't watched in awhile... but why do they only offer low? 14 bucks per season? You srs GSL? Every other league offers free 1080p and GOM instead of going forward went backward.
Well played Yoda. You officially gave up a win TT Losing 3 marines for free like he did in the main doing 0 damage. Not killing easy overlords and then not even making the full block. I just lol

Not against Life you wouldn't
you build a bunker and a rax at home, the cc on the high ground and kill with a simple marine timing while the z is still on 1 base. nothing he can do. yoda played exactly in lifes hands, maybe match fixing?!

Yeah, we just like owls.
As TotalBiscuit would be quick to remind us, everyone is fond of owls.
I'm surprised Artosis finds so little entertainment value in seeing what a god-tier player is capable of. I'd rather he analyzed the shit out of those games than trying to pretend they didn't happen.
On February 13 2015 19:21 Killmouse wrote: how do u guys sync korean stream with the english audiO?
Guy said Weds that if you load the twitch stream into VLC player then add 26 second delay or something it lines up :')
You need livestreamer and VLC (both for free). Then you run livestreamer twitch.tv/gsl low and it opens in VLC. Then in VLC you use j and k keys to adjust audio delay.
Observations from Wednesday: - rich's version of Korean stream tends to lag in the most interesting times - the audio delay constantly fluctuates by a couple of seconds, depneds on computer (quite taxing on CPU)
On February 13 2015 19:34 mCon.Hephaistas wrote: Wasn't Yoda also the guy that failed a proxy 2 rax once vs 3 hatch before pool?
Proxy 2 racks is far from being the free win strategy most zergs seem to think it is. But yeah, failing a 2 racks against 3 hatch before pool is bad ^_^
Come back to watch the GSL after about a year away. I come to find that I can not watch anything other than low quality stream? Really? I guess I do not need to watch that badly after all

Unfortunately, I would rather take the lag over the English commentary. Yes, the English commentators are that bad.
My wife just came and told me about her dreams today. The whole Europe has been taken by Germany. They did it by building DTs - nobody expected that because they are Terrans, so nobody had any detection.

20 CET there is a french stream in HD I heard.
what if you dont speak korean or french...
you put music, but yeah it depends of how much you value understanding the casters. I personnaly really like korean cast sometimes just for the energy they bring to the game and since I understand nothing about it I don't have facepalm moments.
Soulkey doing pretty well with keeping up the baneling count. And TY grouped up his army after a first baneling wave and then the next wave hit hard. But the Marines up near the main were waste without vision.

In the early days of the game yes. Nowadays I'd say the template is more along the lines of Apollo or Rotterdam (who probably tried to "copy" Artosis/Tasteless' style of casting at the beginning, but now developed their own that, in all honesty, I find preferable. Some jokes here and here, some laughing moments, but still more talk about the game itself than about random shit. Also Tastosis have a number of standard sentences they repeat over and over that is impressive compared to other casters, and I'm pretty sure that if they didn't have their great era in WoL they wouldn't be casting GSL but WCS Challenger).

i left the cinema feeling genuinely ripped off.
My friends liked it and I was doing my best not to be a total downer after the movie lol
just wait till peter jackson makes a 9 part silmarillion movie
which somehow still has orlando bloom in it because apparently peter jackson can't get enough of his dick so has to put him in movies when he isnt even mentioned in the book.

LOTR was actually ok because it stayed faithful to the book and it was an actual trilogy so it made sense to make 3 movies.
hobbit was a small kids book which they stretched over 3 movies by adding in pointless shit which never happened.
Sometimes it feels like GSL is a place for Tasteless and Artosis to hang out and chat, and occasionally they might acknowledge there's a game going on.
12:00 into the game. Things are happening, stuff is upgrading, players are maneuvering their armies. Tastosis talk about a Brood War tournament they went to.

Omg. But imagine the epicness if he actually pulled it off!
No one actually could, the story's format doesn't work in cinema I think
Yeah, it's not one story but several. That is to say, perfect to stretch out to 20 odd movies or so!
I read the Silmarillion a bunch of times and every time I try to figure out how someone could reasonably turn it into a movie or a TV series that doesn't suck. My best solution is doing it like True Detective, with each story being a separate season with separate actors. It would still be super weird, but it would make more sense than trying to retain Orlando Bloom by having him play 10 characters over thousands of years.

Well, tbh, the ending with the army of the dead was very silly, unnecessary and certainly not faitful to the book at all but the movies were very well done overall (imo)

If I recall correctly Jackson didn't actually like the concept of the Army at all. I don't remember why it was done like it was, granted, but I'm pretty sure I remember an interview where he expressed distaste.

Eh, they're pretty good, granted IMO the first one takes a while to get going and the first half of the 3rd tanks into a molasses-like stupor for about what seems like 15 hours but they are pretty true to the book.

Afaik they were in the books, but never made it to Minas Tirith, just cleared a bit of South-Gondor, so that Aragorn/Imrahil could use the forces bound there to march to Minas Tirith.

They were in the book but not nat the battle for minas tirith. The scared of the corsairs so that reinforcements from that other big gondor city could be shipped to the battle. With the Corsairs ships so a big surprise to the Mordor armies, tilting the battle to the good guys's side. So much better than in the movie :/
Mehhh, Life just seems stronger atm. Oh, well, if he gets out second in the group atleast he'll get MMA in the Ro8, much more preferable than INnoVation
Bah, I whished we could have had at least one speedbane micro battle between those two, but Life put this pink thing on his head to appologize, so I m happy

I trust Gom/SpoTV would accomodate (though I'm not really sure how they'd do that), but if not then Life will most likely forfeit Katowice.

I know that, but it's pretty reasonable to expect Tasteless and Artosis to make a serious effort given that interacting with Korean pros/casters is borderline mandatory in their profession. I don't know what your friends do, but chances are they don't need to do the same.

I agree but CJ has awesome and handsome players so it's not a problem. And we'll have ProLeague soon enough.
As a CJ fan, any comment about the fact PRIME has as many Code S players as CJ?
CJ has never been a very successful team speaking about number of players in Code S. Its strenght lies in the awesome things that happen when the players are reunited under one banner.

Could be the finals of any tournament. So super psyched for that one. The cream of the crop has risen to the top for both of these leagues...both gsl and nssl.
I think INnoVation should forego any super greedy openers and switch it up for this series. Honestly I love seeing him (and any Terran) open up hellion banshee into three cc. That build is just really strong. I think for the most part you get enough done with the banshee by picking off units and forcing spores that things even out and you are much safer against roach based play and all ins.
I hate watching this. The Terran should be attacking attacking attacking attacking but TY is timid and doesn't push his advantage whatsoever. It is just bad play.

it's the perfect balance between eco oriented and safe play. Just like making some lings and a bnest for a Z if he doesn't want to scout...
but I understand that in your little world we're at 2010 GSL lvl of imbalance.

A huge counterattack and they are talking about Mario? what is going on with this cast. Guess I have been spoiled by the proleague/starleague casts recently. Because Tastosis are like talking about the actual game 70% and I want soulkey to win so really annoyed at this..
You'd think TY would adapt. There is a reason parade pushes are so ridiculously strong. You force the Zerg to never be able to counterattack. Yeah that is a big map but after that opener and early game TY had a big advantage to press.

Nope, he was ahead in upgrades and had around the same supply, but after few unsuccessful drops from TY, Soulkey started to harass TY while taking like 5 bases and just outmacroed him.
Yeah, I sort of miss other casts now. Even most community casters would review the map they were going to play on, what sort of styles is viable, what does the players usually like to do etc...

Soulkey saw one proxy Barracks, assumed it was 2 Rax, then way overcommitted to stopping the nonexistent 2 Rax and lost more Drones/Lings than he should, so he's now tilting all in.

Points have been set to 0 due to liquibet being created late. Points cannot be given if a liquibet is created with less than a 24 hour advance notice. This one was actually my bad... I didn't realize I had forgotten to make this one ahead of time.

Or maybe it's due to potential match fixing or inside liquibetting!
I'm very pleased with the results tonight. While I would have liked Yoda to do well (poor guy...) we all know that Life is the best player in the group, and TY and Soulkey are both about even in terms of skill. TY deserves it I guess for being sick his last NSSL group.

Yes, sucks to have "pretty much a coin flip" in here. There would ofc be other possibilities, where "pretty much a conflips" only occures after 2 tie-breakers, but unfortunately those are rarely used these days.
