With just over a year behind us since the SC2ITL was born we have already seen story lines develop over three fascinating seasons and countless great games. We are very excited to announce Season 4 with an increased prize pool - €2000 + 10 Plantronics headsets in the first division and €150+ in the second division. As with Season 3 the SC2ITL will host three divisions of competition. The first division will once again be the place to see the best of the best compete for over €2000 of prizes. The second division will be more competitive than ever before with a base prize pool of €150 which will be increased through the €5 entry fee for each team. Finally the third division will offer competition to those who do not get to see it so often - the Bronze-Diamond players. The first division is invite only, with a small amount of qualifier spaces and has a €20 entry fee. All teams are able to sign-up for the qualifier and must only pay a €5 entry fee to play, which covers their entry into the second division should they fail to qualify. Really hyped for this event! It's been a while since we could watch a good team league. Two things though. 1) I still think it is questionable to allow alliance of players such as Bounty Hunters or Baguette to participate and here they even got a direct invite and didn't have to go through a qualifier. While I would love to see French players, an alliance between Millenium (Lilbow, Marinelord), Nuit Blanche (PtitDrogo) and AAA (MiNiMaTh, Chubz, PsiOniC) would be better. 2) Does anyone know who will be Fnatic's partner. With only 1 player in their roster the invite is also somehow questionable. Otherwise GL for the tournament. Hope it will be awesome!

Hey! When I was setting up the league I was afraid of going down the 'Bounty Hunters' route with allowing alliances. I looked at each alliance request specifically to make sure that each alliance would be for the best for the league. The majority of players on Baguette are from Mill / aAa / nB as you mentioned (I think only one player on the entire roster isn't?) Basically these three teams did not wish to compete this season for their own reasons (a shame as aAa and nB have both been consistent contenders throughout the first three seasons of the league, with aAa even making the playoffs in Season 2.)
In this case instead of excluding players who have always enjoy playing the SC2ITL, I felt it made sense to allow them to take part if they had a way of taking part. They were originally going to take part in the qualifier, but things changed up a bit when we saw how many sign-ups we had. Originally I had 'saved' an invite for Millenium. When it came to the qualifier I had 7 spots to fill and I also had three teams who I felt were significantly stronger than others in the qualifier (imG, PrOp, Baguette) and so I gave out the invites so that there would only be four qualifier spots, saving time running a losers bracket etc. (which we had to run in the end anyways because a team dropped out, but originally it was something I really didn't want to do because of time constraints.)
I know this topic is very much a matter of opinion, and I am of course going to be biased because I want my league to have the best competition possible, but I hope it helps others maybe get a bit of an idea about my thought process and also understand that I didn't just blindly accept any random group of players thrown together.
Fnatic have Harstem from their main team and souL from their academy. Their official name for the league is Fnatic +2 - originally it was an alliance with ALTERNATE, but then ALTERNATE dropped their players (apart from ShoWTimE). Fnatic will play with ShoWTimE and Lambo. Again a very similar scenario to above, I wanted to allow players who had previously played in the SC2ITL (ALTERNATE made semi-finals last season) to take part and it also helped Fnatic who needed an alliance.
Enjoy the games!

Thanks for the reply and for explaining your choices ) The first week was really fun to watch. Really enjoyed the Fnatic v Invasion games and the Root v Axiom ones with an amazing show by Catz.

I'm not that sure major is the best NA terran anymore. Masa bringing it.
|
Please be careful with the observing. I am going to do my homework instead of watching this now(probably for the best), because I just got really annoyed. There was a gigantic (near max army fight) that basically decided the game, but the observer just stared at something insignificant the entire time and then pans over to look at the aftermath of the huge fight. It actually really bothered me lol.
|
Still surprised at how good Ret is despite seeming to be inactive for a long time.

|
Rekt. I think masa is the best player for root statistically over supernova and even hydra.

mYi Winter has been on our roster for almost a year now, so yes.

ROOT and mYi are not qualified for playoffs if I understand how it works. That is an upset ! To be fair it was the group of death. And Redbloods really surprised me.
Thank you for the quality stream.

Thank you for the quality stream. That's correcr. The Top 4 teams from each group make the playoffs, and they're now set in that group as Axiom-Acer, Baguette, Cascade, and Redbloods.

Great league so far with lots of upsets and beautiful games. I saw that Invasion esports are disqualified. What happened? And when do the playoffs start?

They became very unresponsive (have not replied to me in over a month) and with so many matches left to play it was only fair to set all the results to 0-4. The Liquid-ESC match was set to 0-4 for both teams as it had not been played by the deadline, but this didn't change any final placing in the group.
Playoffs have been set up and can now be seen on the Liquipedia, matches should start being scheduled for later this week. We will be broadcasting ALL playoff games, including second & third division.
