It would probably go something like this: Game 1: The_Templar tries a really dumb 2 base all-in and GumBa deflects it while taking 5 bases, The_Templar leaves Game 2: The_Templar tries a proxy hatchery and goes swarm hosts but fails in multitasking and loses a long macro game. Game 3: The_Templar BC rushes and wins Game 4: GumBa masses T1 units off 4 bases and obliterates carriers Game 5: The_Templar goes 4 gate and then transitions into void rays and immortals, GumBa tries mech and gets destroyed. Game 6: Roach Game 7: Long, back and forth macro game | ||

At least Artosis watches Proleague and stuff - although I would have expected him to know from watching players like Soulkey deal with mech that there's lots of harassment and mobility involved with shutting it down. It seriously sounded like that was the first mech TvZ that Tasteless has watched in years. It would be amusing to go back in that game and see how many units (excluding hellions) that Innovation even lost while pushing across the map easily. | ||

You could see Tasteless only watching games he casts as an advantage though. It makes the strategies seem fresher, and it's only really annoying if you're up to date on the meta, which hardly anyone is. | ||

Even if you're not up to date on the meta, I imagine you'd prefer that your casters tell you things about the state of the game you're watching that aren't wildly incorrect. If a caster can't make a game seem fresh and exciting enough because they've seen too many of that type of game before, that's a separate problem they need to fix. Apollo and Kaelaris or Nathanias and Rotterdam never let a game feel boring when they do WCS even though they watch tons of Starcraft. And this was a fresh game regardless of how much mech TvZ you've seen; Innovation is a bio player, he's known for his biomine play vs. Zerg and being really good at it, he doesn't usually do this, that makes it fresh already. Like, we don't appreciate casters cause they're cool fun guys that get to learn along with us (unless someone is doing something that's truly new, like Naniwa gate expanding vs. DRG in WoL), we appreciate them because they teach us things about the game we're watching that we didn't know before or might not have considered on our own. Instead, this is what we got: 20:15: "I really just don't like what Innovation did here, I really don't think this is gonna work" - Tasteless "For once, I'm gonna agree with someone that says mech will lose" - Artosis 20:40: "Even if it was King Sejong Station or something I feel like this is better, but this is like, the worst possible spot to mech on" - Tasteless, forgetting that having 4 free bases (Inno has a 5th up as well) is kind of super important and you don't get that on other maps 22:10: DRG abducts a raven and a viking, the raven dies, RIP never 4get, probably the best engagement DRG took in this entire game 22:40: "If Terran wins this, man, this would be the craziest uphill battle" - Tasteless 22:58: "This is, like, a really hard scenario to go mech in" - Artosis 23:00: Innovation starts pushing across the map 23:20: "Well he just killed a spore crawler, so that's something." - Artosis 25:05: "I'm gonna be blown away, if he actually pushes through all these swarm hosts...I will, I don't know what I'll even do man, this is pretty wild" - Tasteless, as Inno is halfway across the map and pushing towards DRG's 3rd with 21 siege tanks vs. 24 SH and losing almost nothing 26:25: "This is crazy, he's literally just powering through this. Guys, this is happening, I cannot believe we're actually seeing someone power through the swarm hosts." - Tasteless 27:05: "Should he have just switched into roaches or something?" - Tasteless - I don't even know what the thought process is with this one 27:20: GG 27:25: "What" - Tasteless I'm not being results oriented about my criticism either - like, I'm not upset because I bought everything they said and they cheated me and turned out to be wrong. Rather, watching the game for the first time and listening to them say these things, my jaw was hanging open. I was going to be absolutely shocked if DRG won against someone who got a maxed mech army on that strong of an economy without the Zerg doing anything whatsoever to slow them down. I imagine most people who play Zerg or Terran and play in these types of games felt the same way, yet Tasteless actually had the gall to say in the next game (on King Sejong): "That last game was a bit of an exception because I think everybody watching probably also thought there's no way that mech's gonna push through that." What? No, anyone who plays/watches TvZ knew that mech could totally push through that, especially when DRG had no anti-air beyond the initial spore line (which died shortly after the push began) to deal with the viking/raven cloud. | ||
