It is fairly problematic though hopefully the KeSPA Cup will mitigate the problem a bit. However, I don't think last year's format would have served Soulkey much better. He wouldn't have made Season Finals in season 1, and his performance in Season 2 didn't suggest that he would have made it. Also frankly the seasons last year gave way too many points, making every other event basically worthless.
Stats and Bbyong to advance. Why, you ask ? Easy: - Terminator isn't on the same level asa the other 3, so he's out. - KT > SKT, so Stats > SoulKey - Bbyong is the m*****cking Bbyongjwa, he's got this (plus terrans are doing better since the patch)
In the end, I agree with the TL predictions (which makes me think SoulKey is gonna get through... :-/ )

I just hope this isn't the infamous 5SH-a-bit-of-everything-but-mostly-corrupters build.

SoulKey going to make just a handful of SH again, he tried that in the SPL finals and iirc he did that a lot last year, hasn't been too succesfull this year tho :/

I actually really like that build, 12 Locusts need a surprising amount of dedication from the Protoss to get cleaned up without dealing damage/a lot of damage, so while you have the Protoss defend it you can be active with your roach Hydra Viper force.

It would be great to see how some old maps are being played in the current Meta of the HotS. That being said, I won't like Belshir, I hated that map with passion. ^^
Daybreak was my favorite map I think, if only they could remodel it a bit so turtling with Swarm Hosts and Mech isn't possible and it would be awesome.

The maps I'd love to play on again on ladder would be Daybreak, Ohana, Shakuras Plateau and Bel'shir Vestige. But you can't do such a thing, this would be a horrible message to send to mapmakers.

yes (for WCG) that s why I think Luna was reused there. Usually the maps were not updated from one WCG to the next (or rarely), despite the complaints of the referees before the tournaments and the players during it...

It is pretty safe earlier on (like vs drops like widow mine drops, and just generally pretty safe), so you usually don't loose to worse players which you can with a lot of the Protoss builds.
Also it hasn't been used a whole lot lately, so it is stronger than usual now since Terrans have to get used to it again (with lately I mean b4 this Code S season btw).
It will probably fade away again once Terran gets really good at dealing with it, and then come back once people aren't as comfortable against it anymore.

How about 10 Stalkers being 1/1 vs 3/3 Marauders + Thors? Stats has so lost this game
As much as I loved the thors, you could clearly see their limits once a certain mass of chargelot archon was reached. Then again Bbyong's ghost control in those fights was not pristine.
Edit : I still think some thors are a really excellent answer to phoenix play in TvP. Thors burst heavy amounts of ground damage and virtually make your viking fleet untouchable by the phoenix.

That thor killed like 15 units one by one as Stats kept warping them in. Even got a HT. Might as well just warp in the main and get a larger force
I love what I'm seeing. Bbyong completely hard countered the phoenix colossus style in every way, he out expanded Stats, out upgraded him and got thors against it. In fact I actually love the thor in general, but I'll reserve judgment for how bio+ thor fares until after I see it in more standard games where toss can get 3/3 of their own.

Thats my point, its just useless to warp them in direcetly in front of the enemy. If its like 8 marines and you warp in 10 zealots, sure it works. But that was bad judgemend by Stats :/

Of course you can. There are different variants of Phoenix/Colossus play, not all of them commit to second Stargate + Fleet Beacon + Phoenixes upgrades.

I dont see why you would not make a sentry if you feel safe in your macro skills. It is so much better vs this kind of pressure and gives you Guardian Shield / Hallucination for later. Sure you delay your tech a little, but you are so much safer. If you feel comfortable in your macro game it feels like you always could add one?

He was one of the first homegrown talents of KT, after they toned down their buying-spree, back then I still was a SKT fanboy but I always appreciate homegrown talent it has a nice feel to it.

I agree, but it feels like you just get shouted down whenever it's brought up anywhere. I know everyone has their own tastes in casters and stuff, but I don't know. At least watch watch the game and keep up with the scene and your audience, if you're not going to play it.

I think best best (irrealistic) case scenario is zerg kills every probes and manages to send some drones back while threatening the buildings with remaining lings. But even then it's just a very weird game for protoss who has to correctly make decisions with his mamacore but he still can take it

Stats is so fucking good about splitting his army off and multitasking with one smaller low tech attack force and defending with mostly high tech units :D
I feel Soulkey could've killed off the third with his remax after the first big attack. Going up the choke into 4 cannons and colossus wasn't the best choice.
As much as they hype SK as this super solid all around zerg, he's actually pretty bad at these kinds of games. He's too aggressive and impatient. He could actually use some lessons from Snute in how to play host vs protoss.

You need to be extremely sharp and decisive in modern PvZ if you're not a heavy SH player, and Soulkey has always been a calm macro player. He'll find confidence in this MU again, I have no worries for him.

Uhmm... stats did split is army up, and then even split the attack part of it up again, lifting 4 units into a warp prism and then warping in in the main where he dropped the units off, snipingthe main and the 5th base with his smaller attack low tier army, and defending with his high tech army at home.
Also Stats is pretty good, and as you should have seen in the engagement at his third he doesn't only A move, he kept that colossus alive with good micro/target firing.

You have to type in exactly what the game/series was and what player were involved. For example: Code S Season 2 2014 Group B Match 1 Set X + the two players. That's about the only reliable way to find their stuff on youtube unless you wanna manually skip through all their videos or playlists D:

And the EU Protosses are at a lower level and that is the reason it works for EU Zergs.

I don't understand how terminator can play in a team house for like 8 hours a day and not know how to properly deal with the marine medivac pressure in the main with the hellions in the natural. It's a pretty standard terran agressive build, right? But terminator acted like he hadn't seen it before and lost so many probes at his natural.

Snute has won his last 2 series against Stork as well though. Ofc. winning 2 series is not a sample size, which says anything big, but it at least denies the thought of kespa-toss winning 100% against it.

Stork has been doing really poorly at foreign events in general tho, he also sadly (im a big Stork fan) isn't one of the top KeSPA Protosses in general now.
And as you said its not a good sample size.
Also I never said winning 100% against it, just that it wasn't viable anymore compared to the other choices, if you have a 40% win-rate with one strategy and a 60% winrate with another one its clear which one you will pick.
And seeing that they used passive SH b4 and then stopped I would assume that has to be the reason, because Koreans don't just stop with a style just because its boring (see BL Infestor).

I'm saying that if he loses to non-SH as well it might not be "SH are viable" but rather "Stork is bad at dealing with foreign Zergs on weekend tournaments"

he also sadly (im a big Stork fan) isn't one of the top KeSPA Protosses in general now.
Assuming Rain-Zest-PartinG-sOs are tier 1, I would definitively put Stork in a tier 2. He played very well in the last GSL, barely losing in the ro16 to TRUE who would go on to upset Zest, beat Maru convincingly two times in Proleague. I consider him one of the Korean Protoss big guns and am looking forward to see him play against the likes of soO and DRG.

With correct positioning you can deny the Hellions getting in by moving the Stalkers back in time, or moving them to defend the natural if that's where the Hellions go. Just sloppy play.
i don't think so. it was the correct play losing one probe for 2 hellions is completely ok. he did a good job there and overall he is defending way better than he did last game

Currently I would put, Rain, Zest, herO, Parting, Classic and sOs above him with Rain Zest and posssibly herO beeing tier1.
He is talented, and his style reminds me of BW and at times looks really really impressiv, but he just isn't quite there yet, there are still a few holes in his builds and his desicion making is not up to his non-final standard :/

I wouldn't neccesarily agree, since he also 2-0ed Scarlett in the first series, took 3 maps of TRUE the week before (which doesn't adress your point directly, but still says something abou his vZ in general), but going into that is probably arguing off topic with a very small smaple size, so I'd suggest, we just agree to disagree here.
I think this is a good answer to people who wonder why Protoss have stopped playing 1-2 colossi builds into templar builds. They're just not solid, even with good control (which wasn't the case here and just aggravated the situation).

On a map like Overgrowth you can do it because there aren't as many drop paths for Terran and so it's much easier to deal with multi-pronged aggression. You only really need to worry about one angle when it comes to drop-play. On KSS the Terran has multiple angles to drop from and can even open a back door into your natural, so you really need to be going for a Blink Stalker heavy composition instead of trying to rush to Chargelots and Storm.
I acknowledge that this map is really tricky against drop play, but with the new mines if you play a light colossi (1-2 with or without range) into chargelot storm style a T who doesn't even bother making vikings and just goes bio/mine/medivac will tear you apart.

Those maps don't seem imbalanced to me, plus the samples is small. I think people have to get used to some of their special features (drop defence for Nimbus PvT, P who can safely go up to 3-4 bases for ZvP...).

Soulkey has never lost in ro32 right ? I remember him losing in season 1 ro16 in that stupidly stacked group of death of groups of death (Maru - Zest - Dear - Soulkey) but I think otherwise he has always been quarterfinalist at worst.
I can't help but feel that Soulkey really bungled that. There were chunks of that game where Bbyong was throwing full Medivacs away for nothing at all, and yet Soulkey played the whole game like he was being parade pushed by Innovation back in 2013. That felt really weird.
Super fun game though, fantastic WM snipes by Soulkey, nice to see more micro coming from Zerg again.

ye, SK overextended way to much. you just cant engage off creep like that when you are behind on upgrades
should have played more passive and gone for hive and 3/3
SK just too sloppy with his control, losing huge chunks of units over and over. Letting his fourth die 4-5 times. He is really not as good as the hype would suggest, he falls apart a bit when he gets pressured on multiple fronts.

It's so damn boring to watch a zerg trying to kill a terran for 15 mins after winning the game. I mean, 6 base vs 3 base, this should have been over a long time ago but it's so hard to trade with mech. Wish there was a rule that you autolose if you are on 3 base for 25 minutes.

they should add repair cost to the units lost tab, so no one will say cost efficient and Mech in the same sentence. But the Roach attack at the start while Bbyong was preparing against Mutas really got Soulkey the advantage to play this tech switch style.

Uh yeah actually its true because that was just terrible by BByong. His mech style has always sucked if he doesn't win with a timing. Avilo actually shits all over mass muta because he knows how to deal with it. This game we just watched was....bad.
after initial banshee hellion rine push did so much damage, there was really no reason for bbyong to mech. Bio would have been a better choice with one or two tanks in a position to fend off roach counter.

What... Bbyong has very good mech.
In this game against Soulkey he lost because he was behind after he didn't prepare for the 1/1 Speedroaches timing, end of story.

Mech was an amazing choice against what SK was doing. But straight into Thors+no bunker instead of tanks cost him the game. Should have scouted with his banshees, had he feared mutas, not blindteched into Thors.

Mech was an amazing choice against what SK was doing. But straight into Thors+no bunker instead of tanks cost him the game. Should have scouted with his banshees, had he feared mutas, not blindteched into Thors.
Mech may have been good but instead of making all of em hellbats, he needed at least 1 or 2 tanks to hold roach counter. With banshees harrassing, Bbyong did see roaches popping out. I just think that Bbyong was over confident and that eventually backfired and cost him the game.

Yes, if it is a WCS-partner event, it is for sure a tier-2-one, there are 25k to less for a tier 1. I'm still not entirely convinced, as the site you linked also said, that 16+ players are the requirement for WCS points.
