i always thought the hype for the books was inflated because people are impressed by the pure brutality of the subject matter rather than the quality of the writing

but i don't actually care that much, it's just funny to me to casually mention that i don't like GoT, because many of its fans have some of the most tightly-clenched buttcheeks in the world about anyone suggesting it's not a masterpiece

I don't think they are the best books I have ever read but I would recommend them to people. Have you ever attempted to read the books? I've never felt like "this book(s) is boring" and everyone I know that has started reading them has liked them.

Yeah, I stopped reading the series at the point. I feared GRRM was doing a Robert Jordan and losing control of his story (heck, GOT was originally intended to be 3 books). I hear Dance with Dragons is good, so I may get back into it. But, given the expansion of the story and characters, I'm not sure that I care enough anymore.

A lot of my favorite moments are from dance.
