The books are good though, at least until Feast for Crows. i always thought the hype for the books was inflated because people are impressed by the pure brutality of the subject matter rather than the quality of the writing
but i don't actually care that much, it's just funny to me to casually mention that i don't like GoT, because many of its fans have some of the most tightly-clenched buttcheeks in the world about anyone suggesting it's not a masterpiece

The book wasn't that bad. It just had the majority of characters you hated or didn't care about.

Yeah, I stopped reading the series at the point. I feared GRRM was doing a Robert Jordan and losing control of his story (heck, GOT was originally intended to be 3 books). I hear Dance with Dragons is good, so I may get back into it. But, given the expansion of the story and characters, I'm not sure that I care enough anymore.

Would you say that the entire series would be worth reading, or just a little bit, or barely worth reading if I have something better? I've been looking to get into that (thanks to peer pressure) but don't really know.
