If they win 2 out of 4 matches, they are as good as in the playoffs (teams with 8-3 are very likely to go through, teams with 7-4 are on the edge). The problem with map and series forfeits is that it affects other teams (i.e. the beneficiaries' play-off rivals) as much as it affects the team receiving the penalty.

I'm mightily pissed off. JYP better win this. This is unbelievably unfair on yoe Flash Wolves, mYinsanity, Axiom and Millenium (granted they got a free 5-0 against EG). In other sports there are vigorous rules against this shit, In football (soccer for you Americans) you get a massive fine and possibly a points deduction when you do this because it is unfair on all the other teams in the league competing for the same prize. mouz have now basically had Team Acer, mYinsanity and Evil Geniuses all but handed on a plate to them, three of the tougher teams in this league. All they have had to do is do the business against the bottom teams (which they have done flawlessly) and they've got a ticket into the play-offs.
This is just ridiculous and undermining to the ATC. I hope to god JYP takes it.

I'm not blaming JYP for losing (though I question his selection as ace). It's the fact that EG fucking shows up late AGAIN, after they did it against YoeFW, after they no-showed against Mill.

EG is 1-6 in matches and and -17 in maps. They are ranked 10th out of 12 teams. Assuming that bottom 4 teams are relegated, yes EG is not good enough for the ATC.

Frankly this is embarrassing for EG. They've been one of the biggest teams since 2010 when SC2 started, and now to see them like this, a mere shadow of their former selves, it's kind of sad. It's not the match record that bothers me, but the impression that the team doesn't care, which I guess has led to this result for EG.

I completely get that organizing a team league with a team like EG, with members living in every time zone and probably some that don't even reside in the local cluster, is very challenging indeed. Geoff made that point before and it is a valid one.
But that really brings them a fork in the road, either drop out of playing team leagues all together, or clean up their act. Half-assing it like this is not good for anyone and only hurts their brand.

Jaedong also lost to Impact at Bucharest, Has in WCS, etc. etc. etc.
But while ATC isn't the only tournament in SC2 history, it is the only major foreign teamleague, and for many teams, the only teamleague that they can feasibly compete in.
Now imagine if a player in GSL shows up late to his match 3 times. First off, they've probably get eliminated from the GSL anyways. But they are also taking a coveted spot away from someone else. That's the thing with EG and ATC. A lot of teams would kill to have the exposure that being in ATC has. EG got it, and now they are just treating it like nothing.

That's great, but this is a case where actions speak a lot louder than words. If they routinely cannot fulfill the requirements of the league, they become a detriment to it and should be removed in favour of another team that can.
