yep koreans have a stephano complex this is well-known No "complex," Stephano just does none of the stupid foreigner shit that every single foreigner besides him does. He actually scouts his opponent, always. He pressures while macroing. While macroing! He doesn't impatiently all-in. Basically, Stephano is a Korean. Anyway that's how I feel watching him play vs. foreigners, they are a class apart. Watching Patraeus beating him yesterday was sort of like watching him beat Life or somebody? You knew Stephano was going to find a way because he is playing the game on a different level, one most foreigners seem unable to reach. Stephano was literally famous for never scouting and just playing his own way... Stephano scouts to get the information he needs, like Korean progamers do. He doesn't vodoo scout like most foreigners. No literally he was famous for never drone scouting. Go back and listen to past interviews. He would not scout. At all. What does drone scouting have to do with anything? Do you even know what scouting is? Hint: It takes place after the 4:00 mark too. What the fuck is this sentence and why would you say it? Great argument. Anybody who thinks "doesn't drone scout" = "doesn't scout" probably has a poor definition of scouting. Great post. He didn't drone scout. Then he followed it up with not scouting. Then after that he would keep not scouting. He and others who watched him play and knew him personally (I remember an interview with Idra with him saying this) have said that he did not scout. When I see Stephano pressuring his opponent's natural and he smartly retreats and produces zerglings based on some very small information, that is scouting. He plays a safe style and is always probing his opponent with units. Don't try and teach me history, I have been watching SC2 constantly since the game came out. Stephano gets caught off-guard by gimmicks far less than most players, for years.

You need dominating players and personalities to grow a scene. The game itself will never bring the same level of interest because only players/hardcore fans will watch. Tiger didn't make golf what it is by being popular. neither did Nadal and Fed dominate tennis because of their fanbase. They did it by being the best. how can you not see the difference? Stephano is NOT the best. He was the best (foreign player). Him beating pros while studying fulltime just reiterates this.

But he WAS. That's the point.
Also they did do it by being popular, but they were popular by being the best. This isn't always true. For example Jimmy White in snooker was huge but was runner up 6 times and never won.
Their popularity drove the growth of the game. That's the issue here. If you want to grow the scene and not just have the dregs of a scene followed by hardcore fans only you need these personalities. You need people who viewers only tune in to watch them. Its vital. It is the opposite of destroying the scene, it is what keeps it alive and grows it.

LOL you are betraying your ignorance by proclaiming your knowledge. he didn't scout, he got caught off guard many times, and he would often do a strong build and if it didn't work he would struggle. Once he became better at adapting he was one of the best players of all time, but he still scouted less than most. He's like bomber in that respect
