Yeah sample size is suspect there, but I do think that as the game goes on Zerg gets a small advantage in the muta/ling/bling vs. bio/mine matchup. Terran gets it back when they reach 3/3 but lose it again when zerg gets hive and 3/3+ultras. Overall I'd say Zerg is sliiightly favored at the moment

yeah that's the qualm I have about it. you get matchups like jjakji slaughtering tons of people in go4sc2 and there are a couple of korean zergs that play in weekly cups too and pick up lots of wins

Well, maps are definitely part of balance. Unless you have a map like the first version of Daedulus where the results were very skewed. But when you have most maps with one race winning 55%+ in a matchup, you can either say balance is a problem or the map. As long as the same maps are being played in most big tournaments, map balance is part of the balance.
Anytime you use stats, it simplifies things. But when you don't, then everything because subjective. I am sure you have zergs that could argue that BL/infestor was never a problem. Just that the maps were too small to abuse the immobility. Or pre-nerf 1-1-1, 11-11 was never an issue but the maps were just too small.
