Yeah, he will be put in group with the cheese Protosses, just depends on which one.

meh he won't beat Classic if they meet again and he also won't beat Rain. Will have it tough against herO and Parting. Should beat the others though, including all the possible tosses from other groups.

Yonghwa, Zest, Trap...

he should be favoured against them

Some would argue he was favored against Classic today.

Strangely, due to the lack of Ts in GSL and PL (we are seeing more Ts in Round 2), it is hard for us to gauge KR Protoss PvT if they don't travel to foreign events.

nah no way, classic is so insanely good

But Maru was supposedly THE best Terran...

classic has a strong claim for the best protoss, too. plus maru did look pretty bad today

No terrans are looking good anywhere I dont blame Maru the game is in a strange place right now. What I want to know is how long ago did Classic switch to protoss from terran? I mean how long did it take him to become one of the best in the world so soon after switching races? I never heard much of him even in proleague when he was T.

I think he switched very early after they started playing SC2. He was terran for maybe a couple of months, maybe even shorter than that, but I don't know for sure.

People claiming that have not watched Korean scene for a long time and also probably didn't watch IEM Cologne.

Classic did lose to Polt who lost to HerO. Again, no one is saying Classic is bad, he is definitely one of the best Protosses currently. But Maru was THE Terran. The only Terran doing well in both PL and Code S.

He switched to Protoss in April 2013. He went 16-4 in Proleague as Protoss at the start of HoTS when protoss was admittedly struggling some particularly with drop play. He went 3-7 that same season as Terran including a loss to Thorzain in WoL

The gap between his proleague appearance as terran and toss is 2 months

I don't think you have a legit claim to the "strongest" toss when you lost to polt, while hero beat him the same night. Not saying Classic isn't scary as shit. But to me you gotta prove that you can actually seal the deal in tournaments, to be considered a "best player of your race".

"The best in the world" is always rushed, everyone had their good and bad days, and on that day they certainly don't feel like best when you are watching them.

This is similar to Byun in WoL, was a noname toss, switched to terran and reached semifinals code S.

Didn't we used to wait for people to actually win anything at all before we claimed that they were had a strong claim to best at anything?

you can be one of the best without actually winning something

I don't think you have a legit claim to the "strongest" toss when you lost to polt, while hero beat him the same night. Not saying Classic isn't scary as shit. But to me you gotta prove that you can actually seal the deal in tournaments, to be considered a "best player of your race".

By the way, Polt did beat Rain as well as Mana (oh well) and Stardust. And he didn't lose 0-4 to HerO.
I don't think you can really say that Classic is bad just because he lost to Polt, who's TvP nexus sniping was almost flawless this weekend.

Finally got my Sandwich

Thanks for letting me LR today had a good time, glad Maru got through so we get some racial diversity but sad that my boy symbol dropped so fast..his ZvT seemed really unimaginative which was a shame

Yeah, he will be put in group with the cheese Protosses, just depends on which one.

Proleague championship? Classic played terran in WoL, switched to protoss in HotS. He managed to lose to Thorzain of all people as terran, getting 3-7 record. After switching to protoss, he instantly became the best protoss on the team. Team that had Dear and Trap in it, team that won Proleague. Ever since the switch, most of people following Proleague at the time knew he is gonna go big in 2014. Dear's success in late 2013 only reassured that. Again, he was better than both Dear and Trap, he won the clutch match in Proleague finals in PvP. He is insanely good, with a strong claim to be the top protoss in the world and most of all, he is doing that without collosi, without relying too much on bullshit that some tosses are using right now because of the state in which the game is and most importantly, he is doing it in interesting games with action all over the place. He is basically Dear from late 2013, just better.

Maybe you were trying to argue a point but Polt looks a lot better than Maru currently in TvP (or any other terran for that matter ).

Not one of, he said THE. 'One of' is very vague, 10 protosses can all be one of the best Protosses.
