And hellions are kinda terrible against chargelots. Like you can beat hellions with just zerglings and chargelots are zerglings with 5 times the health and a spell that lets them get at least one hit in.

It's easy to skip over when you consider that the High Templar is pretty much the only unit that Classic really needed to control well to be effective. Even in that last major engagement, all of the Zealots and Archons were just a-moving in one giant clump up the right side. Polt was splitting/kiting with his entire army while also hitting beautiful EMPs.

Polt would never be able to afford hellbat production and hellbat upgrades. I am not exactly sure if I am correct but I think fully upgraded chargelots don't care about hellbats without upgrades at all.. especially with archons who are great vs. bio and hellbats being too slow to go out of storm. Blizzard wanted them to be good against late game chargelots but ghosts are still much more important and you just can't afford to get that dream army combo as terran, especially in a game like that on Frost.

He probably didn't know Polt still had 2 small armies on the other side of the map, causing him to go for, what he thought was, the killing blow.
