The difference between korean and english is bigger than an inter-european language difference, so it is harder to learn for them. Also in Asia english is´nt commenly used as a 2nd communication language, as it is in Europe. The foreigners getting a GSL seed or pklaying GSTL did´nt learn korean either (mostly, a few did), although they played a korean dominated game in a korean tournament with a korean production. That has nothing to do with disrespect, it´s just a really big effort.

All European languages except Finnish, Estonian and Hungarian are more or less related to English, so learning it is rather trivial for us. For them not so much. e: Well, and Maltese. french isn't related to english yet all french players speak in english.dutch isn't related yet all dutch players speak in enlish.russian, polish, swedish, norwegian arent related to enligsh yet all the proplayers speak in enligsh.the south koreans aren't even trying. @xoronius all languages are different amongst one another.there is no such thing as a more difficult or easier language.and in the gsl there were plenty of koreans to compensate for the 4 foreigners.

Of course there are Korean players trying. You can really tell with people like Hero, Leenock, JD, etc. that they have learnt a lot of english during their travels. But I don't think it should be mandatory for them. That's just ridiculous. And also, there are plenty of europeans who don't speak decent english.
