lichter's notes: I am currently writing a FAQ for LR threads, to be included at the bottom of each LR. Mostly I want it to address questions regarding LR threads, as well as questions about becoming LR OPs. Please look through the FAQ and PM me with ideas to improve it. TY!
Volunteer! All you have to do is check if there's already a thread for the tournament, or if anyone is scheduled to make the thread. If there isn't a thread and no one is scheduled to do it, you can become the LR OP! We are always looking for new people to help out, especially for WCS AM and EU.
Being the LR thread OP is hard work, but it's also fulfilling. Hundreds, if not thousands, of people check the LR thread every day, and it is a valuable resource to the community. It's a simple way of supporting SC2, the game we all presumably love :p
Now that I've decided to be a LR OP, what do I do? + Show Spoiler +
Next, read up a little on bbcode and familiarize yourself with it. It helps to look at the code for previous LR OPs.
Finally, check your schedule. Are you SURE you'll be around for the duration of the tournament? Are you sure you'll be able to update in a timely manner?
If everything checks out and you've done all of the above, all you have to do is make the thread!
Where can I find previous LR OPs, as well as LR resources? + Show Spoiler +
LRing is tough work, and only a handful of people do it regularly. The most famous ones are Shellshock and The_Templar, but occasionally other people (such as packrat, Yello, etc) do it as well. If no one is available to do it, then there is no LR. Again, we need more volunteers. Anyone who watches games regularly and types really, really fast has qualifications to become an LRer.
All you have to do is write out what happens during the game. It doesn't need to be complete, but it should be a good summary of the entire game. Supply counts, timings, build orders, and major events are typically what receive priority in LRs. You can read more LRs by Shellshock and The_Templar for a better idea of how to do it.
Can I submit a new banner, player photos, or other images? + Show Spoiler +
Yes! We encourage creativity in LR threads, so if you want to submit some fancy stuff and replace the premade ones, go right ahead.
Who do I contact if I have questions about LR threads? + Show Spoiler +

Why would Bogus choose Parting if Sleep is still up for grabs?
Btw. epic paint skills OP
Because players often don't go for what we perceive to be the easy picks. I think Bogus will pick PartinG out of pride (he got beat 2-0 by him WCG). Plus he's quite good in TvP normally.

One question: Why are Soulkey, Maru, INnoVation and Rain the decider for their groups and not the other first place finishers? Is it because of the WCS ranking or their stats in the previous round? Then why is Super not up there?

You are really mean to poor soO, what did he do ?
Constantly disappointed me in Proleague, failing SKT at every key moment and then he knocked out a bunch of players that I like in GSL in the RO32 before losing without accomplishing anything.

It's pretty funny how Maru commands 0 respect, in past group selection ceremonies players would acknowledge the previous champions by saying they didn't want to be picked by them because they're too good(mvp, nestea and mc especially).

I think picking Super is a really questionable decision, since Super is good against Terran, meaning not only will Inno play a PvT specialist, Super will pick a Terran player very likely, which is Inno's worst matchup.

Lol soulkey is the only one who made a good choice imo.
How did Innovation look at those players and said to himself. Yeah the guy who murdered the WCS Season 2 Winner(who plays the same race as me and is known for his insane TvP) is definitely a better choice than SkT_soO.

Flash, parting, and someone else? i think your cursed.
More specifically Flash, Parting and the person who is left at the very end of the selections, who is usually one of those that the rest of them recognise as one of the strongest. >_>
Parting does come off like a cocky kind of two faced person that is kinda of selfish (I know those are big words to throw around and I'm not like really serious about it but since watching parting in SC2 from back in Startale day's to now on SKT1 he really seems to think he's grown the biggest nuts in all of SC2 now that he got on SKT1..) I really wonder if Parting gets along with his teammates (wondering because of rains comments and jjakji exposing him, I bet a lot of people feel that way toward parting.. kind of obnoxious unlike how MC pulls it off)
kk no sleep ranting speculating done. Don't take it too seriously, I was just kind of blunt I guess... I don't know the kid so I really have no idea.

He did something similiar a few Seasons ago when the group Innovation, Flash, Parting and Life was created, and he managed to get out of the group.

Because these players know a lot more than what we see at Ro32 matches. They play on ladder frequently. If you look at past group selections, the few players that get picked last usually tend to do pretty well.

Notice that besides Soulkey picking Sleep, no one is touching the zergs. Players tend to know metagame shifts before we do. Maybe the top zergs are really doing well on ladder in korea.

It's that damn overseer, queen patch 2.0. We're about to find out Blizzard broke the game again.
Would be pretty sad if DRG doesn't advance because he landed 0 Terrans in his group after becoming good enough at vsT to beat innovation in macro games more than he beats you.
Ok I'll just assume there's more than usual happening behind the scenes that we're not aware of, because otherwise these picks make no sense at all. Most of them seem to be trying to go for easy picks, except they're not the easy picks you'd expect.
soO trying the opposite of Losira by saying how much he wants to go into the group and how the players all look pretty easy despite INnoVation being in that group. X-D
KangHo got picked really late last time too. I think Losira is pretty strong on ladder most of the time, and he seems somewhat hard to prepare for, I mean we can barely predict how he's going to perform on any given day here on TL. :p

lol soo, "you guys are terrible!" "I think hes provoking us to avoid team kill." "actually you guys are really good, respect!" "okay you can come here".
Bah, DRG had shown us some perfect play against Terran and he is great against Protoss, but his ZvZ is average, and he ends up in group with Protoss and 2 Zergs, and not any Zerg, but with Soulkey. Well, I hope that him and Soulkey advances. Groups are pretty solid overall.
No group D is so sad. If KangHo don't make it out, still one of my favourit 3 remaining players can't make it out. Maru absolutly has to go through, but Flash or PartinG? I can't decide. The both should advance^^
Groups A and B - total clusterfuck I love it when the races are evenly distributed - makes for a fun tourney so this wont be one of them - with a 4-0 finals I bet
Bah.. why does DRG have to be in a ZZZZZZZZZZ (plus one Chee-toss) group? Not only the games will be uninteresting, a higher chance of DRG dropping out. On the other hand, I think Maru and Super's chances are pretty good. SOS got a lucky group where he can abuse his cheeses to heart's content. Sigh. I really dislike that guy.
Looking through the groups...I'm pretty happy with them overall. Pretty good spread of players. Even the group of death doesn't stand out amazingly from the others for me (though I can see it would for some).
Worried about DRG in that group though. Sleep has shown impressive ZvZ lately. Hoping Keen brings awesome TvP And Group D I'll take any 2 of those 4. They're all interesting players in some right.
Group D seems indeed quite strong, but I feel like it will be one-sided. I say PartinG goes through and whoever will be the most in shape amongst the 3 others. I don't expect the 4 of them to come with their strongest plays.
Okay, I'm actually starting to dislike Soulkey NOT because he ends up eliminating other Zergs with his excellent ZvZ (such is his right) but he ALWAYS makes for all Zerg or nearly all Zerg groups. WTF Soulkey, stop knowing you're good at ZvZ.
Asked Engine on twitter on why KangHo was picked last. He said it was unexpected, so it seems like KangHo being strong is not something the korean scene in general knows about. Maybe he's just tearing up the ladder? Still find it weird, he didn't show the most convincing games in ro32 either.
most of the time kangho is the highest or second highest ranked zerg in the korean ladder in the past few weeks but in his official games he looks as scrappy as ever so dont get why he was picked last either
Zergs seem to have been picked later for some reason, plus being picked last doesn't mean much when so many good players are picked earlier. Just look at the talent in the third round compared to soO and Losira picked dead last.

So Maru is overflowing with confidence :D? Also, Soulkey seems to like his ZvZ, if he tried to force a full zerg group (since Sleep showed that his ZvZ is pretty gut by getting to Code S). And best thing evah:+ Show Spoiler +
WE WILL NOT HAVE SOULKEY VS INNOVATION IN RO8, EITHER SEMIS OR FINALS
It comes with downside of Soulkey vs sOs in Ro8 being possible.
soulkey dongraegu keen trap innovation super parting flash
Haven't seen it out of rain lately and trap has some good momentum going right now - might regret that choice, though. Everything else I feel secure about, though I could see dear taking out either of my zerg picks, too - with only PvZ to practice.

Hey Genius had his moments! They were rare, but when he was on it he was great.
Even in 2013 he nearly got an all-kill in GSTL against Startale
Flash ezpz Ro8 =). I doubt he will lose against Kangho, TvT wise he is beasting it up and Parting seemed to be the only one who is capable of stopping him.

Dear only having 1 matchup to prepare for I think helps him a lot in getting past DRG in a final bo3. \ Group B was tough between these three Protoss, but I like sOs and his ability to play a little bit more varied than Rain which will help him in a Winners Match. I think Rain will be too solid and overcome Trap in the final though. Felt pretty easy to me, but I think Super will continue to exploit Innovation's slightly less impressive vP and continue to show strength against the SCV pull. Innovation is too good to not get out of the group though. PartinG will avoid Kangho in his group(which is very good for him), and he's already proven the ability to manhandle Flash. Strong PvT should see him through in first. If Maru had a really strong Zerg he could have been in trouble, but he is just too good to lose to Kangho. He's also shown some strong TvT which will propel him over Flash in the final match.
So your dream group is just choosing whoever are the biggest names in starcraft at the moment? Yeah...ok. Sounds like you have AMAZING thought behind it.
how the hell else are you meant to choose a dream group
maybe 2 top players with 2 players with super high potential, super cheesy under dogs vs only macro players. Be creative...?
He meant realistic choice, since Soulkey and Innovation were set to be in different groups. Also, PartinG will sell his soul to Soulkey if he will have to play him once more :D

My prediction <3 Group A: Soulkey,Dear Group B:Rain,sOs Group C:Super,SoO Group D:Flash,Parting
Nothing ezpz for Flash, what does this look like ? BW ? Bhahaaha. Decent Terran nothing special atm. I'd put him on 3/4th of that group.

Well aLive who I would call a "decent terran" did recently 2-0 Maru, Parting hasn't been absolutely spectacular or anything recently, and Kangho is quite inconsistent. So I'd say Flash has a pretty good shot at advancing.
But imagine if in that famous group of death instead of Life we had Soulkey. Do not forget, he managed to get himself picked last without even trying too hard like KangHo usually does to get himself in group D all the time. Granted that if we had Soulkey instead of Life we would get Parting and 3 zerg group most likely instead of group of DEATH.

Offcourse it's not like he has no shot at all he's got fantastic mechanics still, just saying this EZPZ stuff is rather silly with a Flash performing sub par in solo leagues, where he after MLG has yet to impress.

Ahaha. Well it looks like PartinG will be safe, at least for a bit. ^^

Well, he kinda was smacked by Innovation each time before getting knocked out of group and we all know, that Innovation before hellbat nerf could land a serious punch to the mentality :D

He better hope Soulkey suddenly becomes bad at ZvZ and ZvsOs to not make it to Ro4 (where they can possibly meet).
Whilst SK would slap Parting around, I'm not sure his ZvT would scare Inno and Flash that much. DRG in that one match up has been more impressive even if SK is overall the better player.
I also think Rain or sOs would be a lot more scary for a zerg to face than Parting.

PartinG is required to make this a group of death though, because only him and Life do such a ballsy picks (from ones staying in WCS KR).
I'm going to agree with myself that PartinG has the best PvT in the world, and therefore will advance out of his group. The rest, I'm not sure. I thought we would have way less zergs in there than we have, I need to rework my expectations because of that. It's sure going to be one of the best Ro16 GSL, though.

How being highest wins player in proleague be failure?
while being in code S, while being in the round of 16 three times. People these days.
Plus being in the group of death and drawing Innovation during the hellbats period. I hope Flash get at least top 4 for DH, guy need some momentum boost to play in another group of death.
A and B are the hardest groups, since you will be playing mostly coinflippy mirror matchups. Anyone can advance from those 2 groups.
C and D seem pretty clear cut with innovation and super, maru and parting respectively. I guess kangho could also advance over maru considering his tvz is really bad. flash is the last I expect to leave this group

Another player underrating jjakji. Guy can be dangerous to underrate, ask Artosis.

I wouldn't underrate super either. jjakji could come out ahead of innovation, but I really doubt super doesnt make it out of this group
