With Intel Extreme Masters New York coming up in early October, it's time for the participants to be determined. Eight players will have the chance to qualify online again!
Two of the best players from Europe and Africa will qualify for New York. You must advance through 2 stages to do so. See how below.
Restrictions
You must be located in Europe or Africa at the time of either Stage 1 or Stage 2 to be eligible to compete in the qualifiers.
You must be at least 16 years of age by October 10th 2013 ( the date of the LAN event)
Hotel and flight cost are paid for in full by ESL.
Be well aware that the USA might require an up to date visa to enter the country.
Best of 3 in all rounds. Once the semi-finals round is reached the matches end, and the 4 players then move to stage #2.
A map veto (removal and pick) system is used. The high seeded player (seeds can be found at round 1 on the grid page) decides who starts. Players take it in turn removing maps until only one remains in a best of 1 or until only 3 maps remain in a best of 3. Then each player picks a map. Maps are played in order they are picked. The remaining map is played last.

Yeah, absolutely.
doesn't seem to matter in the end :D really bad ht control by babyknight
will never be able to play like Lucifron, so clumped all the time but he just gets rid of the AoE before it can hit him. But way to risky for my taste and my bad macro. Haha the nuke sound.
shield upgrades a bit late, could have won Babyknight the game already. But some people like fighting against full upgrades with no full upgrades, despite having the resources.

Nani went 1gate expand into 3gate robo while Stardust went 1gate stargate into 3gate off 1 base, made 2 oracles, but Nani was on top of the defense with stalkers so only got like 3 kills. Then Naniwa moved out aggresively and sniped a few stalkers and a pylon and was able to move in for the win in Stardust's base with a bunch of stalkers and an immortal while Stardust's 5 stalkers were out of position.

Sad day for e-sports. Human race, I'm ashamed once again.
I am tired of people no scouting and all-ining every game, I don't understand how can you enjoy players like that. I tell things straight you don't have to like it, but that playstyle is just disgusting

Every time I start to feel bad because protoss seems to do a little better than it should, it's people like Nerchio who remind me why I shouldn't care.

Uhm, not sure why these comparisons are being made. Nerchio has won a lot of small tournaments and you can't really compare zotac cups etc to GSL/OSL. GSL was for a long time pretty much the only tournament most Koreans could try to win which was the hardest tournament in the world. Earnings won't tell you much about anything then.
On the subject, you're Polish and probably have a mancrush on Nerchio so we all understand why you try to back him up, just like a lot of people back NaNiwa up when he's being childish towards someone. Doesn't make either Nerchio or NaNiwa less childish though.

You're making a lot of assumptions. BMing is always purile, but just because someone's an asshole doesn't mean he's worse at SC. I don't like when people speak nonsense about other people based entirely on their personal opinion. Stardust was obviously able to compete in foreign tournaments, since he did participate in IEM 7 back in late 2012. He's also Europe-based, as far as I know. Skill is subjective and the only objective method of comparing "success" in progaming is money won, because that is what progamers strive to do.

Apart from placing 9th at IEM 7 and 4th at DH Winter, he hasn't done much. Compared to StarDust who won ESET Winter, DH Summer, 4th at DH Valencia, 7th Asus ROG. So yea, he could learn a thing or two from StarDust about winning.

however, instead of only canceling 1, he canceled all of his gates, leaving Bly free to run amok

From november to today:$18,425. Seems pretty close to $19,220. And that's not counting the $10,400 Nerchio won at Dreamhack 2 weeks before Novemeber. Either learn to count better or learn to troll better. But now you're just going to make up something else to justify your previous comment, won't you?

Stardust was obviously able to compete in foreign tournaments, since he did participate in IEM 7 back in late 2012. He's also Europe-based, as far as I know. Skill is subjective and the only objective method of comparing "success" in progaming is money won, because that is what progamers strive to do.
I was not the one talking about whether Nerchio was good at sc2 or not. Just letting you know that such comparisons are stupid, be them from you or the other guy.
Fact remains though that Nerchio is a douchebag even to really nice people like StarDust. I dislike Nerchio for the fact that he acts like a baby and BMs alot. I do know he's good at starcraft though.

Congratulations on showing which player has been active longer. From the time since StarDust is active on the competitive circuit, it isn't even close.

Yes, and since StarDust became active on the circuit, he has won $20k to Nerchio's $6k by my estimate. So yea, my point stands.

Not the best, but the most successful, yes. Who's "best" is hard to discern and changes constantly. Skill is not measurable, success is, sort of. And again, being an asshole doesn't have much to do with how good you are at your job (which doesn't mean it's ok, obviously!).

Joining a team isn't the same thing as competing on the circuit. StarDust first competed in November 2012 at MLG Fall. If you start from that date, it isn't even close.
Not from November to today. StarDust didn't compete in DH Winter 2012, couldn't be in BNet world championship (which is a long-running tournament that culminated in early Nov.). He became active at the very end of November, placing top 32 in MLG Fall, and that is where comparisons begin.

He didn't compete at Dreamhack, but he could. He was already active and participated in other tournaments. Dreamhack features an open bracket. Not every player participates in every tournament - and that's not the point of the comparison. The point is Nerchio is at the very least just as successful at his job as Stardust is, so far, even with fewer big showings than him to date.

The bigger point is that he has won literally nothing but tiny random EU cups since WoL was retired in tournaments. What could possibly explain that???

Not a fanboy, just think it's pretty dumb that you BM people when you don't show any results in HotS and they have amazing results for somebody so fresh on the scene. StarDust is MC-Lite and I don't mean that as a compliment.

I can half-understand guys like IdrA who BM when they lose because it hurts so damn much. BMing when you are winning, saying stuff like "go back to Korea" is a whole new level of classlessness, not to mention stupid (again, seeing that StarDust has damned good results in HotS).

Sad that some people feel the need to do shit like this, but it only takes a few idiots to ruin it for everyone.

It is not as easy as you make it. It is one thing for someone on a DSL connection, but it is different if you run on a dedicated line with a static IP.

I guess most of the players like Vortix, Lucifron and Snute at least run a standard DSL connection where resetting your IP is very easy.

I guess because the part about static IP was not correct anyways. Edit: Or let's say: it contained a lot of assumptions, which could very well be wrong.

Because I felt it implied that Take did not do enough while to be honest I do not have enough information to comment on Take's situation. If this is a persistent problem for Take, then I'm sure he has contacted his ISP about possible solutions. Further now that I think about it I'm not sure how efficiently you could block a LOIC attack without interfering with other UDP traffic (I would guess sc2 uses udp).

That's the only explanation I can think of and it sucks. It would be nice to have a stream that just cares about showing the most important games.

If some idiot could choose to do this any time, there would never be any tournaments to watch. People need to be less promiscuous with their public IPs.

For a tournament of that importance, ESL TV should broadcast it.

I don't see any reason why he shouldn't, especially how game 1 went for Nerchio. It would be a waste of time to then get more headache. Absolutely no sarcasm here. Waiting for Nerchio to get his spot like I said before.
I always wonder why we don't see more hellbats in TvP when I watch how ForGG uses them. Maybe people thing "spamming hellbats in TvP is bad" is the same thing as "hellbats in TvP are bad."

EU I guess given it's EU qualifier.
But yes, don't try to understand NaNiwa's logic, especially when ESL is involved.

EU to NA lag is worse than KR to NA. Nothing wrong with his logic.

The only difference i have seen in Nani's build here and sOs play at WCS KR and WCS S1 finals is the different opening with sOs going for FFE in games i have seen, and Nani opting for gateway exp into 3 gate aggression. Similarly greedy third, 3 stargates and same transition. Nani surely likes sOs builds :D
On September 02 2013 05:27 SneX wrote: I missed the game, did NaNi crush Nerchio?
Yes.
Nerchio took a pretty quick third (3:50) and held the 3-gate attack from Nani. He (theorycrafting) expected another attack as a followup and kept his lings in the middle of the map.
Nani did not attack, he took a sub-9 minute mark third instead and added two starports for a total of three.
Nerchio failed to take down the third and he attacked too late to dismantle the VR army from Nani. Nani dealt the killing blow with a maxed VR/archon/ht/chargelot army.
Nerchio's entire army was countered by ht's, archons, and zealots. He really needed something else, or a massive supply lead with a good concave. Obviously he had neither.
I feel like Nerchio might have been able to punish Nani's fast 3rd with speedlings.

Also, Nerchio's economy was damaged because he made 25 useless lings. I think that's a big part of the story as well.

lol I don't think Nerchio likes forGG. I remember watching Nerchio streaming and he was getting pissed off and showing/saying he does exact same thing every ladder and tournament game. Also that he's easy to play against in tournaments because of this.
No, those two are definitly not the best friends, I think ForGG told Nerchio to fuck himself during a streamed game as well some time ago and as he is normally not the guy to do this, there has definitly been bad blood between those.
And ForGG seems like a really gentle guy .. tells you something.
Well, it was´nt really Nerchios fault, that ForGG played the same build in the entire tourney, where it all started.
How is that relevant? ForGG just told Nerchio to shut up which indicates bad feelings from forgg towards nerchio despite forgg very rarely expressing such feelings. There was no accusation of map hacking or anything from forgg. No one can really tell from that if Nerchio "deserved" it from past actions and conversations or whether forgg was just a bit annoyed at that point.
It´s not relevant, I was just pointing out, that there is bad blood between those two and pigmanbear tried to blame everything on Nerchio (like he did for the entire thread), I am just saying, that that is not the case.

One guy has zero history of bad blood, the other has leagues of haters, sort of makes you suspect the second guy of instigating, etc. And yea, I don't think somebody that BM deserves much respect, you're right about that. StarDust is another incredibly manner guy and you see Nerchio leaning on him, getting him to make defensive Twitter posts, etc.

If you want, we can debate that via pm, there is no need to derail this thread with furhter drama.

Ah, what a sunday evening!!
He's not the first one to accuse Nerchio. Just google it.
eghm, so? Do you think Nerchio is a maphacker?
Great quote! You basically cut of the part where I said nothing pointed towards him cheating in that game. Starved for drama?
quoted the part ive found interesting.
Longtimer didnt ask you if Naniwa is the first one to accuse Nerchio of MH. I got an impression you either think Nerchio is a maphacker or you find its ok to accuse him of using MH.

really, take produces good content and I am happy to turn off adblock for him
Why not just sell some sponsorship and put on overlay though? Why be passive-aggressive?
Better than active agressive like you are. He even switched to casting in English when Nathanias dropped. You are beyond every border of reason here.
I'm not being "actively aggressive." I appreciate Take's streaming and all the other guys. It is annoying when people act like Twitch ads are the bread that feeds ESPORT, and after so many times seeing that, happy to watch KingCobra.
Well, Take's income is affected by Twitch ads :D
I don't think that I have ever received a twitch ad on TaKeTV which makes me wonder if they are only targeted towards the German viewers or something. So now I'm a little curious, which ones of you who are living in other countries gets them?
I guess you only notice if there are adds if they have such screens like take has. I have some issues with Java or flash on Opera and a few ads seems to not load for me.
Nerchio WAS according to some a maphacker once(I dont know if theres any truth to this). It was kinda stupid for NaNiwa to say that(Having a bad streak of stuff the last couple of days), but Nerchio did do his fair share of shit earlier today so I dont feel sorry for him.

GG Naniwa, look foward to see you at NY.
OK, but I wasn't the one who brought up the stuff with ForGG, and obviously quite a few other people here are talking about it.

What does this "according to some" mean? It is extremely bad what some people do here, playing backhand accusations like "I heard he is/was" "My Aunts friend said" etc. Basically this is false accusations and with hiding behind an unnamed stranger. Sadly this goes unpunished here

It wasn't here, it was some random guy on Reddit if I recall, and that person only described somebody a lot like Nerchio, not naming him directly. Nobody took the crazy guy very seriously, though.

It's old and comes from him doing well online before he got recognized as the good (and legit) player that he is. Sometimes it gets mentioned in a sarcastic manner whenever he makes a sick move and beats some good Korean.

Yeah I remember somebody who told such things, like the presumably MHer was quite well known in the community and a zerg being good at ZvZ that won quite a lot of money. Stephano and Nerchio have been accused of maphack since their rise in the european scene but they have proven themselves clean probably far enough (especially for Stephano).
Well to be fair for all we can prove any player ever could have map hacked in some online tournaments. Nerchio could have map hacked not once in his live or 5000 times, there is no way of ever telling 100% unless you have prove they actually hacked (and I'd imagine they'd be smart enough to not make it look too obvious).
At the same time, lots of people who used to map hack in bw are well respected on tl nowadays so even IF nerchio hacked, from the past I don't see how our community would punish that long-term anyways (not saying I'd be okay with it, just that from our past mher are usually forgiven).
