It sure was a mistake by Polt, and First was really clever, really knew how to use it, but I can't feel anything except disappointment, looking at this serie. TvT and TvZ are the only match-up where you can get back & forth games. In PvT, if either side does a small mistake early on, the game is over. Same for PvP and PvZ. ZvZ isn't that far either. he has scans and scvs send some or scan some.
Nope. Scans miss, scvs die to stalkers patrolling outside the base.

or like the OSL champ who knows. or Taeja. The overall level of play has been really great and pinning down to two clear favorites seems a bit outstrecht.

Yeah, there is more ways to scout than that. Helions, Banshees, and blind scans.
Problem with Hellions is that, if your opponent went for any kind of agression, you lost the game.
Banshee can be a good idea, especially with cloak, because you can even the game if your opponent didn't went for an all-in.
Blind scans are just bad 7 minutes into the game. Stop talking about them.
