This was established when i said Jim 3-0 Jaedong

Well it's not that much of a far off call, strong all in toss vs jaedong.

Also consider Jim's 3-0 record against Jaedong

just a quick question. Why does WCS EU doesn't have live audience (crowd/seats)?? except from some guys just sitting anywhere near the players. OR is 'the crowd' already?

WCS EU has a live audience, just pretty small it's a fairly small studio with a few spaces for a live audience.

Please tell me how finale aka duckdeok is a no name? That no name Korean was in Code S too.

results speak for themselves

http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Duckdeok/Results

One brief Code S appearance, and a top 16 at NASL season 4

He lost to HerO. In the winter. Give the guy a break.

(HerO won NASL)

my point was that he is not exactly a well-known korean, even when he was finale he was just another protoss. I'd be cool with him winning it all if I knew he was actually going to stick around and be a top contender but too many korean players win a tournament and then disappear entirely so it makes their tournament victory look weaker, not trying to take away the well-earned win.

Well maybe that's the thing. Korea is such a hard place to compete that it's always gonna be hard to make a name for yourself there. Finale hasn't had the chance to attend a lot of tournaments, he played in NASL because it was online (and demolished his group). This is his first real chance to show himself and his personality like this.

yeah and there are so many koreans waiting in line for a chance to prove themselves that every tournament is won by a different korean. Consistency builds interest from a casual fan and when they see that korean A won this month, Korean B won next month, Korean C won two weeks after that, they likely will lose interest unless the top guys are still at least making good runs. I love every tournament regardless but I guess I'm speaking in terms of what helps build the brand up

Good point, having Koreans with personalities in each region also satisfies the part of the crowd who want high level global finals :D instead of the foreigners getting completely crushed by Koreans there, making the big final of a lesser level than WCS Korea

There should be a strict personality committee that checks each Korean for their personality before they join WCS EU. Board members on the committee would be WhiteRa, Fuzer and Bling.

Should also demand proper champagne-opening skills and alcohol tolerance to make sure there isn't a PERSONALITY OVERLOAD similar to a certain frenchman

Personality? Is it that important to you that the player does some stupid ceremony or BMs the opponent?

... Lets play Tim Tebow over Tom Brady because Tim is a "likeable" guy and a god fearing Christian...
Western culture would rather have a fun time getting negative results than getting positive results through hard work and dedication I guess.

SC2 is entertainment. In entertainment personality matters. Deal with it.

Is it entertainment? I thought it was a sport... lol

Sport is entertainment, which is what most sports survive on (on a professional level)

I guess that is why so many sports franchises base their personnel decision on personality, not talent and skill. LMFAO

I'm unsure if you're being intentionally thick or don't understand this, but: what happens if people stop being entertained by soccer? What happens to the sport as a whole? On a professional level, that is.

I'm thick? People are entertained by the level of skill and talent on the professional level in soccer or football, goofy things said or done on the field are just distractions from the main entertainment. (which is the match itself)

Okay, I'll spell it out for you. If people aren't entertained by -insert thing-, they stop watching. It so happens that skill and good play is a big part in soccer, just as it is in Starcraft, but soccer storylines and narratives established over an in comparison extremely large period of time. Starcraft does not yet have the readily available abundance of storylines, which is why many people obsess over "personality"; they want a way to connect to foreign players or players they don't know. If you think the viewer count would be the same if we didn't know who was playing, you're very mistaken. If you think "level of play" is the only thing that matters in sports as a whole, you're very mistaken.

Why do you think people cheer for their own countries and go out of their way to watch objectively inferior teams play when for example the World Cup is on? Why do people cheer for -insert small British team- instead of Manchester United? Because those are the teams they support, the teams they care about. Skill plays a role, but it's not the sole deciding factor in who watches what.

I think it's really sad when people complain about Koreans supposedly "lacking personality" because they all have (except a very select few such as Innovation) personality and interesting storylines, but they aren't as accessible. Why are more foreigners watching WCS EU than watched WCS KR earlier today? Slightly uncomfortable answers, I know, and it's kind of sad to think about, but that's the way it is.

I guess they are not allowed to make any jokes about three Koreans in Top 4 WCS Europe? Really don't get why Blizzard splits Championship into WCS NA, WCS Europe and WCS Korea when it has nothing to do with the region itself. Should be called WCS Group 1, WCS Group 2, WCS Group 3.

This format really sucks.
