Chewbacca was originally only written in as the leader of the Wookies on Endor, but George loved his character so much that he made him Han Solo's co-pilot and rewrote the Ewoks as a different race. That's pretty much why in Episode 3 we get a big scene with Wookies, because that was supposed to have happened in Episode 6. | ||
