About Hong Kong:
+ Show Spoiler +

Hong Kong is a unique meeting place for East and West, blending Chinese heritage, British colonial influences, high-tech modernity and Cantonese gusto. Chinese and English are the official languages. English is widely used in the Government and by the legal, professional and business sectors. Hong Kong has among the highest population density in the world. Moreover, Hong Kong has become a world-class financial, trading and business center. Skyscrapers and temples, shopping malls and traditional markets sit side by side. However, amid the urban hustle there are quiet parks and green spaces, beaches and mountain-top views. The city has one of the best, if not the best, skyline of any city and it is alive 24/7. Visas are not normally needed prior to departure for most nationals making Hong Kong one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. Hong Kong, Asia’s World City!

Strange that a tournament in Hong Kong wouldn't have dota, It's huge in China. Nice to see China stepping it up for Sc2 events though, people often forget China is a big part of the scene.

Although Chinese teams still maintain a high level of performance in Dota, the biggest esports game is not longer Dota 2. The most popular one is now LoL rather than Dota 2.
BYW, the most popular online game is also LoL in China, just like South Korea.

Interesting and large prize pool. Whats interesting is that there seems to be no sponsors? I hope everyone gets paid out and all players that qualify get accommodated. China does have like a secret starcraft 2 scene would be cool to see it grow.

Lol is also much bigger in hong Kong and Taiwan, you don't see anyone playing Dota in net cafe at all, especially Dota2 since it requires steam

Only 64 slots for the qualifiers though, based on specific ladder rank, eek.

Though I guess we'll see how popular it is.

It says "League and Ranking" as an empty field, does that mean for the region we're from, or does it mean SEA, the region that all games will be played on?

Strange that a tournament in Hong Kong wouldn't have dota, It's huge in China. Nice to see China stepping it up for Sc2 events though, people often forget China is a big part of the scene.

Although Chinese teams still maintain a high level of performance in Dota, the biggest esports game is not longer Dota 2. The most popular one is now LoL rather than Dota 2.
BYW, the most popular online game is also LoL in China, just like South Korea.

LoL is open to everyone in China, Dota 2 is not. Dota 2 in china atm is extremely selective and hard to get into. There are several chinese events that have been huge going on so far, so its only due time.

The Sc2 tourny seems exciting can't wait.

HuK takes the first game of lasertower wars (no tempests on the field? c'mon). 700 viewers seems a bit low for a HuK series on NA prime time, methinks.

g2 Caliber denies/kills expansion, the following dt's and rolls with more stuff
g3 Caliber puts down a gate in HuKs natural and looks to lose judged by supply but manages to turn it and win
g4 Pretty tight back and forth 30 minute game with HuK coming out on top. Good mix of units.
g5 HuK defending one base Caliber and walks over for the kill

HuK 3-2 Caliber

Huk didn't do enough damage with his stalkers at the beginning of the game. I'm not sure he should have recalled his whole army to deal with the DTs...
He also missed the cancel on his nexus.

I remember he was an Undead player representing Hong Kong during WCG2004 Warcraft3.

Sad to see there are no new blood within the HK RTS scene lol

I was at the the qualifier and from what he was wearing and his gear, he was not on a team.

He is Terran! So it won't be all PvZ PvP ZvZ action all tournament. Best of luck to him! I am sure all the gamers that didn't qualify will be behind him.

I was playing the R1CH role at the qualifiers this past weekend. I will post pictures soon!

What a tremendous effort made by Hong Kong eSports to promote eSports in China. Good to know that they invited westerners to play in the tournament too.

Seen his name a long time ago. Someone already mentioned he represented HK in 2004.
Pretty sure I've seen his name in SC2 though, his and Roz's. that fact has gotta mean he's pretty good.

But this tournament only gives $65 to the 7th and 8th place, but $10k to 1st?
That should have been thought through a little better... Anyways, still psyched to see this go down.

It will be nice to update OP with who's actually playing and when the tournament is. Those are the most important information. They shouldn't be buried in threads or in spoiler tags. Tournament is in 6 days and there is absolutely no hype.

Yup, Rossi as the wildcard (no offense if you read us) and also, 8.00 am this Saturday (!!) for Ro8 is not the best publicity for the tournament, SC2-wise at least. I'll be at the semi-finals but there's no way I wake up at 6.30 a Saturday morning, even to see HuK or Hurricane.

What happened with Rossi? Vote-bombing in the last weeks?

I know it's the last week and stimmedprobe and HKesports are probably suuuper busy planning everything, but I understand the no hype going on. Since I'm not the OP. I'll get in touch with them and try to update the thread. They will know TL community cares and wants updates!

The finals venue and the swap of wolfdor with tastosis was also updated, but the update date was not updated. ::shrug::

I thought that someone would actually announce that Tastosis was commentating the tournament. So I didn't want to spoil it for everyone. Surprise?

I voted everyday for HerO, but I guess it wasn't enough. The tournament people could have done a little more marketing on the wild card voting in my opinion.

I will premake an LR OP for this tournament. Is anyone available to do a detailed LR OP for the entire day? I can only take care of it from 02:00 GMT (+00:00) to around 07:00 GMT (+00:00). The whole tournament will last from 02:00 GMT (+00:00) to 14:00 GMT (+00:00). If no one can do it I will just make a simple OP.

I know, but I want people to try. Try code A if it works for you, try WCS AM or EU. It would be awesome if we got some more in AM atleast.
