There is really no reason to punish player #1 because he lost against player #2, since player #2 had has lost a series too to player #3. Here player #1 lost to player #2, but player #2 hasn't lost to anyone

But no rewarding the Upper bracket players seems stupid...Say Polt has been undefeated so far and Nani, who has already lost a bo3, wins only one bo3 versus him and he goes through? So Nani had second chance and Polt does not get one? Both extremes are pretty fucked up, should find something in the golden middle. The whole format is a mess.

Isn' that reward enough?

Because it's being monitored...? No they are not, unless you are seeing invisible people inside the booths. They're not being monitored 24/7 but it wouldn't be hard to get caught and it's a really dumb risk considering you'd be instantly DQ'd if caught. And if you got caught you would be done with sc2. I don't think tournaments would let you play and you would be so hated lol. The pitchfork-mastery of the community cannot be overestimated. Well tbh that person would deserve it. To try and cheat at a LAN in a big tournament? I would have no pity and would think that person deserved it imo.

The only difference is with 2 BO3 then Naniwa could win by going 2-1 2-1. But with extended series this can't happen because after Polt gets the 2nd win it is over

The funniest thing is they changed back to it after deciding to remove it for a while... I assume MLG implemented extended series to last the tournament out a little longer. If extended series wasn't in place, we would have the finals being played about a hour ago. In that case they could just add bo5 for semifinals and perhaps bo7 for finals? ![]()
