Fuck live attendance. The people getting to the event and actually being at the tournament itself are way less important than the viewers at home who all use AdBlock. Correct me if I am wrong, but it is Friday, 28 June 2013, 00:11:01 right now in Anaheim. Which means that event starts at 17.30h, right? So if they for example started a couple of hours earlier, people from Europe could at least catch some games at normal time... Or is there another Anaheim? they will start earlier for days 2 and 3, at 10am and 11am local time respectively Yes I know, my point is that it is possible without sacrificing live audience. I wouldn't even mention that if time zone wouldn't allow it. But in this case it does. it's a friday Yes but we are talking about first rounds here. It is not like you will miss Flash vs. Jaedong there. But never mind, I guess you cant accomodate everyone. It's weird how reality works that way sometimes, right? Like how the American event has to start at a shitty time for people across the world. I'll make sure to take up that grievance with Sundance tomorrow when I see him at the event. I'm sure he'll have some fake apology ready.

Concealed brag post about being at the event. Kudos!
+ Show Spoiler +Yes, I'm just jealous I'm not there myself. It makes me grumpy. Also, Sundance I don't think is going to be at Anaheim for some reason.

Most good matches will happen later. So as a european just set an alarm for saturday early in the morning and you'll be good to go ~_~ Winners round 2-3 should start to have a decent amount of good games, a lot less players than the old open brackets. How long would you estimate a round takes? I honestly don't know, never thought about it. Half an hour for two macro games I guess, 45 minutes for a long, close series? That'd put you at 4-5am to catch WR3, assuming all series are played at the same time, take equally long and there's no breaks in between. That's pretty reasonable if you really wanna watch it. Set an alarm and follow your passion ~~~~
Yep. I used to set my alarm at 3am all the time to catch NBA games so if you really want to catch everything I don't see the problem with doing that. Otherwise just skip the first day, it's not that important.

i just checked the wiki page of this MLG. It seems that there is no group stage in this tournament, just double elimination bracket. Why is there no more group stage? I actually liked it a lot + open bracket system
Does sc2 have lower priority now? It worries me a bit tbh

Not sure what priority has to do with the format. How would you seed the groups? Most of the players who placed high at the last MLG aren't attending this time and there was no Arena before the tournament that seeding could be based on.
The previous group system always had some players already in group play with 2 players from the open bracket joining each group. I personally don't mind the current format too much. I prefer group stages but this is fine too.

Well it starts at 5pm, that's pretty late tbh. They have their reasons for it but most tournaments start way earlier.
But I'm not complaining because day 2 and 3 will start early enough to watch some games.

How is it late when it starts on a friday? people got work/school and i assume they at least want to refresh themselves before going to the event. Do you really want to hold your opening ceremony when nobody is there yet?

No, 5pm on the first day and on a friday is not late at all. It makes total sense. In the absolute sense 5 isn't late at all, mention CodeS/OSL/WCS starts around 6.

No that's why I said they have (good) reasons for it. I know they start later because they wanna have a live audience etc. But it makes me a little sad realising i can't watch any (live) games on day 1

The player pool is way too weak for that many WCS points imo.
Code S tier: Stats Dear soO Hero JD(i hope he just cheeses in ZvP). A few koreans are going to be a major hassle, the rest is going to be destroyed.

Well in that case it could start later than that. For example at 19h. That way for Europe it wouldn't start around 2.30 but 4.30 in the morning which means that you can set the alarm clock for 5AM and catch basically whole action. At the same time, those working americans who finish jobs at 17h would have more time to get to the event and also miss nothing.
But as I said before, it is hard to accomodate everyone but I still feel it is possible. I know it wont change but hey.. freedom of speach
But in the end, living in Europe is actually better overall because all Euro and Korean tournaments start and finish at reasonable time...
