This game is quite huge. If Stars wins, they will make their first Grand Final appearance since 2004. It'd be their first trip back to a Proleague final since beating Nada's WeMadeFox.
Ah, Stars can't "clinch" today, but if they do win, it's a 99% they'll be in the grand finals. They'll be five games up on KT with KT having five games left. If Stars win today, then Stars would have to go 0-4 in their last four, KT to go 5-0 in their last five, and for KT to make up a +18 map difference. It'd be impossible without Savior on Woongjin.
Normally you'd think EZ-TL vs the #1 team would be a blowout but EG-TL have won their last 2 matches while Woongjin just got AK'd by the 2nd worst team, T8. Sure EG-TL are missing JD and Taeja but they were missing Hero, Taeja, Alive, and Revival against SKT1 and did just fine. EG-TL have also managed to upset Woongjin a couple times, with a 2-3 head-to-head record.
Smart money of course on Woongjin but anything can surely happen tonight.
this could be pretty ugly. woongjin's lineup is unparalleled in terms of depth and consistency, looked up everyone's matchup stats tonight, woongjin lookin strong as shit. at least there will be good practice for egtl. 4-2 woongjin.

They haven't been EZ to beat in HOTS. They are a mid tier team in HOTS.
Err well their W/L may not have been in the toilet, but hots has still had plenty of EZ-TL moments for fans to savour :S

I think they're good enough it's just that they got a lot better mid season but by then it was already too late.

I would have agreed with that last until recently but look at their record, they're only one or two games off the pace of CJ and T8. If EG-TL aren't good enough for PL neither are those two.
Still I might prefer to see them in GSTL next time, though not sure about that now...

No, LOL. GSTL is practically dead. Proleague is the alpha and the omega of Starcraft. EG-TL just needs to try harder, and Alive needs to stop being depressed.

I'll be surprised if there are more than 4 teams by the last quarter. That and the fact that these people are pretty much starving of starcraft. One (mostly one sided) winnerleague match per 2 weeks, are you kidding me?

Yeah GSTL doesn't have enough games, that's my biggest complaint about it right now. We went 3 weeks without any GSTL matches until the two this week. Proleague probably had 10-12 series' in that time.

Gotta keep in mind that there are people that have followed those teams since they started up. People that didn't necessarily follow BW at all, and don't care that much about the Kespa teams.
Also GSTL seem to care more about foreign viewers than PL.

The whole " we don't care about BW players and we've always followed eSF teams " was true like 8 months ago, but Kespa has been here for over a year now so I don't think It's as true anymore.

I agree and I really think IM will play in proleague next season just for the increased advertising, I thought we were talking about the foreign audience though.
"The winner of Set 2, congratulations free from Woongjin Stars!" Thank you "How were you feeling?" After losing a lot, I was really stressed but today, even when I do well, I told myself to not lose the lead. "What do you think about your play in HotS?" Well with more practice, there's less uneasiness. "If Woongjin wins today, you guys will definitely be 1st for the playoffs, do you think it'll be possible?" Well we lost 0-4 in our previous match so we think we'll do well today and our future games. "Wait you mean the other games for this round?" Haha no, I mean today's sets. Afterwards, we'll have to work hard to do well when the times comes to it.

The point is that there is barely ever any content, too many teams/players with zero chance, and a looming threat of teams disbanding. If you like the show aspect that's fine, I agree that GOMTV production and casters are much better, but it's just not relevant any more. Playing competitive Starcraft is what matters and GSTL can't deliver.

Maybe, we have never seen TV numbers for sc2 so it's hard to say. Something needs to be done with GSTL, even with less teams (If Azubu/Prime did die) I'm sure they could find a format that is more exciting than it is atm.
Right now, neither is really prestigious. I'll wait for my final judgment when playoffs/finals come. I'm hoping OGN doesn't totally disregard the Proleague finals. After a fucking year of playing, hopefully they go all out.

There are still a lot of good matches and I actually think that the top 6 teams in GSTL are all capable of winning. The biggest issue is the frequency of matches and the looming threat of teams disbanding. With changes GSTL can still continue but I'd rather see a PL with more teams and GOM covering PL.

This is painful to watch ... when will Zerg players learn to cover their whole main base with creep and place static defense at the point of entry for a Warp Prism?
Honestly the base snipes for 1200+ minerals worth of zealots isn't a big deal, if this game goes to the very end Zenio will be the one with more resources on his side of the map.

PS : And ultimately the game ...
If it was a Zerg with more composure I think sOs would have ended up losing
Zenio defence against warpprism harass was terrible. But SoS's composition against swarmhosts was pretty bad too. I'm surprised, he is supposed to be good protoss.

Perhaps Zenio should have not let sOs get away with building 3 bases while his only unit was 1 immortal.
Perhaps Zenio should have covered his main base with creep and placed Spore Crawlers at the edgoe of the base instead of allowing a space for the Warp Prism to warp in units safely. Sure the Protoss can kill the Spores with Void Rays, but what is worse? Losing workers and tech or having to rebuild those Spores?

I think sOs' gameplan was to abuse the swarm host's immoblity, by zealot warp-in harrass to cripple Zenio's economy. sOs' main army was just to hold the fort, and hope that Zenio can't move in for the kill. In the end, Zenio's bases were razed and he had no economy. Even if Zenio could destroy sOs' main army, sOs would have enough resources to reinforce in time, and counter-attack for the win.
Ooh, sweet map intro. Seems like the SpoTV staff stopped screwing around and started making better interstitial content or at least using OGN's or something.
I guess I have to stop giving Revival so much shit now, I thought his 2nd place in WCS AM was a fluke but he's been playing pretty well in Proleague ever since coming back from that tournament.
Coach park knowing that a new haircut would lead to ultimate victory #believe
Also I am going to take suicide, these casters... I get hyped up in the game for something and then they come along and ruin it constantly, either by being completely wrong or not being observant on the map.
People forgot that he used to be a beast at ZvZ, and in the early parts of proleague he was actually one of the players with the most wins on EGTL IIRC. I feel like his main weakness has always been his late game decision making but his early/mid fundamentals are quite solid.

In a lot of his loses he actually played pretty good but barely lost. His WCS AM placement wasn't that impressive though. Beat a bunch of foreigners and cheesed out Alive.
Revival is very solid.
Solid is the last thing I'd call Revival . The player is way too streaky but at least he's not lacking talent. He's playing now like the player he should have been for the last 6 months :S At least his name suits.

HerO must be pretty damn pleased right about now. Succesful cannoning, which just now killed a bunch of lings as well. Scouts the bunch of lings. HerO is in a real nice spot.

eh, not even close :/
i think he's referencing how hero used to have the best PvZ in the world
He did? When?
sometime last year when he sent warp prisms everywhere and harassed like crazy before that type of play became standard and other than that just really solid vZ. I think it was like early-mid last year(when he made his ro4/ro8 in gsl)

You know this cannon rush only works in a Bo1 in Proleague . Hero is pretty good , but Shy and Rain are better .
You're right, this strategy would never work in the GSL Ro4 or WCS Finals Ro4.
That's just silly.
I thought they will be a Bo1 this season so it can work there . Kidding aside wonder why this cannonrush cannot work in a bo3 though. But I guess he meant every game hehe.

We'll see, maybe after losing to EG-TL they will get the EG CURSE

If it's KT then probably not. KT 4-1ed them twice since HotS. KT SHALL WIN IN THE END!
Actually, EGTL has a lineup consisting of pretty solid players, if no super-ace. Oz, aLive, Hero and Revival are all players who are either solid code-A or fringe code S. They just really needed to get it together and then the wins would have come. If Taeja returns, they could very well have the super-ace they need to win more reliably and place better in any subsequent proleague endeavors.

I don't think you know what the EG curse is
I don't think you know what sarcasm is
It's the internet, you never know if people are sarcastic or just stupid.

agree with Rain, but saying Jangbi and shy are better than Hero is just garbage.
Edit: Shy=Sos right? sorry i mixed up Sos with flying :0 i can say Sos, Rain>Hero but Jangbi >Hero is just nono we need to see how he does in primier league

And well, everybody should know by now that HerO is a beast.
HerO is a beast. Of the Power Nine (the 9 players on the Power Rank everyone can agree are the best), HerO has now played 7 of them in HotS and defeated 5: Rain, Flash, Symbol, Roro, and Soulkey. And people say his pvz is bad...

It's the reverse EG curse hehe
These players were in major slumps before getting picked up by EG. I think it was alive who was even thinking of retiring.. Happy to see their form improve so much. Also WCS seems to have had a huge impact on revival. Some credit prob should go to coach park too.
What's so impressive is that almost every week EGTL is forced to field a less than optimal and constantly changing lineup, and yet they are still competitive against some of better teams in proleague

HerO played so beautifully, just a pleasure to watch an artist at work.
Given the current momentum, WJS really have to get their shit together. It´s so dangerous to enter the playoffs on a losing streak. KT vs SKT finals has to happen though.

Can't hear more of the lyrics unfortunately because of SNM and Whiplash
It's this song:

I believe it was said that they're out of the running.
That is possibly why they're playing a little more care-free now.
nice work EG-TL! I went to sleep after the JYP game where he got rolled lol and figured it'll be a close game. Nice to see them win especially with HerO taking out SK and aLive taking out Flying
Jangbi is really good judging from his recent games, looking forward to seeing him in the individual leagues more going forward.
HerO, so underrated and in my opinion unfairly maligned for playing WCS NA. He underperformed against forGG at the season finals, but dismantled Symbol pretty handily. Mvp attracts a very little flak for playing in EU. I do wish they'd both got to stay in Kr tbh, for the prestige, but ever since they dropped the prize pool of a tournament that is INSANELY stacked, it's probably the smart decision.
The amount of players who are listed as better all-round Protoss players than HerO is frequently fucking ridiculous by pretty much any metric you use.
On June 17 2013 00:28 Emzeeshady wrote: [quote] Yes, but he had bad luck in his ups and downs and Code A is still better then WCS AM Premier league in my book.
HerO is still easily better than him. Also better than Jangbi.
I don't think so. Maybe in PvP but HerO seems very weak vs Terran and his only wins vs Zerg seem to come from canon rushes these days.
I don't know if you have watched Super or Jangbi play recently but they have improved a LOT in HOTS.
HerO's PvT isn't great right now, I agree. But it's still really damn good. His PvZ is amazing though and his PvP is great.
Jangbi has been really good lately which I love but he's not at HerO's level quite yet I'd say.
Well, he hasn't had the opportunity to travel outside of Korea yet. Their records in PL are comparable though.
I put Proleague very low on determining a player's skill. Bo1s hold very little value for me.
well aren't you a special little snowflake
Excuse me? :p
He called you a special little snowflake.
Crazy..EG-TL is actually in 7th! and there's a small possibilty they can even come in 5th to close out the season! What a turnaround that would be.
Can you explain why they are in 7th now? I don't get it. See my posting a bit earlier.
EG-TL was 14:22 before this match. Why are they now suddenly 16:22 and not 15:22?
There's a bug somewhere. Some of the teams apparently have 1 extra game - 5 rounds x 7 matches per round = 35 matches + 2 matches played = they should be at 37, not 38. Same with T8.
But even as 15-22, they have a better record than T8 who is 15-23. If EGTL wins and CJ loses, they'll move into 6th place, and even 5th place isn't far out of reach! That would be a pretty good finish all said and done, after the hype, the under-hype, and the re-rise.
