WCS EU Finals got 111K Viewers. The GSL this morning ONLY 55K. And we got the EU and NA for free. What would they lose???
Well, the live viewers won't change that much with the availability of the VODs, will they? And I don't mean that they destroy WCS KR/GSL with it, but their pay model. As long as it is profitable, why would they abandon it? GomTV subscriber numbers are unknown to us, but they are much more valuable than free viewers.

GSL is the championship I follow the least, it's launced for free when I am at work, and I have to pay for vods which Im not that into. So many other good tournaments around. I do watch finals, only because its free and on Saturdays. Do koreans have to pay to watch vods?
No, Koreans get everything for free. HD, studio entry (+ pizza sometimes), VODs.

Plus this werent exactly the finals everyone (or at least I) was hoping for. None of these games were outstanding or mindblowing by any means, so I turned off after 3 games.
Someone earlier mentioned that twitch + afreeca was up to 200k. Doesn't count TV and gomplayer

i got my prediction right ^^

What?! Couldn't watch the games... Bogus T_T

He might not be considered best in the world but he is one consistent dude in GSL, he has my respect as a player

I've registered again just to make one post. Banned for "ridiculous shit about matchfixing" like you guys say.
I honestly think that Bogus gave the games away. I don't believe in his loss. Because you know what is a comeback? Comeback is Jaedong vs Fantasy 2009 OSL, comeback is Effort vs Flash 2010 OSL, GGplay vs Iris 2007 OSL and these are just out of my memory. No Fantasy, Flash or Iris stood on the stage smiling as if won everything possible in this world already. They were devastated, they were puzzled and they were sad.
Today matches reminded me WCG 2008 finals with Stork and his good friend Luxury. Yeah, the tournament caliber is less but nevertheless, Stork played his most passive PvZ in his entire career right after he defeated Jaedong in a one of the best PvZs that same tournament (and Jaedong of 2008 was the best BW player I guess). Did Innovation play better than Stork? That is debatable.
We always believe in what we want to believe and anything can be written off to some human factor, coincidence, bad or good luck just to defend you point of view. But not noticing the small details I'm talking about and saying that it is nonsense is even worse I think. We should be honest, we should not hype shitty games and act as if it was an unbelievably cool experience just because you're paid to do that. This finals were a disappointment, I cheered for SK (the underdog as usual) but in the end I didn't feel SK won, all I saw is that everything went as planned and that is a worst you can feel when the score is 4-3 and everyone is like "omg it was an amazing comeback", it was not, because we know what amazing comebacks are.
After all it is truly great games that make ppl watch starcraft and unite community, bad games make threads a dump, shitstorms and conspiracy theories is what bad games produce. All I've read in this thread is one making others believe and ppl trying to convince themselves that these were good finals, mods making others shut up if your opinion is "wrong" does not go with the "accepted requirements" or you're just "over the line" with your accusations. I'm not over the line, I am not convinced and this is just how the things are. If you inculcate opinions last thing ppl would do is share them.
ps: if you ban me for my opinion, which I tried to argument without cursing or whining about balance, but for just triggering a sensitive matter then this is what I call "over the line".
but you of course can ban me for ban dodging;)

You don't come back from 2-0 against Innovation. Nobody can press the advantage like he does (got a few all-kills in his pocket). I like this quote.

Ah yeah, Daybreak retiring. mixed feelings about that.

@pavel_s, one of these days TL will have a rule of no posts for one day after registering and you will be to blame

Well can you blame for that? And I thought Innovation had his mental thing most right out of all players in this GSL. Also probably the frustration, because I wanted close games

wow is this going to be the year of woongjin stars?

Grtz to Soulkey. Amazing finals are good for SCII.
|
@Kaiser Well, the games WERE really shitty. Innovation went on and off between pretty good and full-retard. And I'm one of the biggest Innovation fanboys out there. Soulkey played okay, but 75% of the whole series was just bad cheeses (on both sides). The series did not deserve the amount of hype it got and the amount of hype Tastosis gave it DURING it.
I wouldn't say there was match fixing, though. The reactions were all pretty realistic and Soulkey played somewhat solid. I'd say mostly that Innovation just started to play really poorly.
