Marineking floated his starting CC down to the rich resource expansion and went into Hellbat drops with some viking/hellion support. The attack did next to nothing. Ryung was able to defend further drops without losing much and then moved out with bio+tanks.

Lol shouldn't need Soo to tell you that Prime is one of the easier teams. Their heavy-hitters are overwhelmingly Terran so it leaves them with little depth, they have one Protoss who has been completely underwhelming in HotS, and don't even have a single reputable Zerg player. They've been pretty underwhelming in team leagues for a while now. At this point all they can do is hope that MKP and Maru pick up a win or two, or hope Byun can hard carry the team.
Creator's PvT has suffered as of late because I think his builds are predictable. Its always the same old turtle with double Forge, and every Terran is adapting.
Surprised Creator let himself get outmaneuvered like that, didn't he know Ryung's army could just walk up the ramp with his army so far away? In this case might be worth it just to run back to the 3rd right away to save it from that move even if you lose your only collosi doing it
Ah, as Khaldor said, he probably wanted to set up a flank and Ryung moved in too quick.

I watched his stream the other day and he went to his match history... he had like 3 wins over the last 20-25 matches. I was pretty shocked actually.
I don't know how long he played WoL before he became prominent. Maybe he just needs more time to adapt than others.
Prime is lacking in team variety and depth, which makes them easy to prepare for in relation to other teams with a greater number of players and better results. If Prime could fix this issue somehow, they could have a resurrection in some sense, but their core four isn't working out too well.

Not having a solid Zerg hurts. They only have 1 toss, and the rest is all Terrans. Makes it really easy to prepare against

Well, he should recruit more good talent/develop the lesser Prime players/figure out how to train Prime's slumping aces
its sad to see prime players playing so badly, truth be told they have never had optimal choice of builds, and now they can't win at all with their wonky playstyles, its time for a change already.

I could see both of these happening and the receiving teams not changing their 4-player choices a single bit.
IM and Startale wouldn't benefit much from adding those teams. NSH and Prime both are suffering from small rosters, mixing the teams would add at least a little depth to the teams and allow for a little bit better decision making from the coach. They'd still need zerg players though, they'd have.... 1?

Players should be able to see their own mistakes especially when they are kinda obvious :/ the builds they do leave them open to soild players who completely crush the builds.Part of it could be the coach but let's be honest they have minimal practice partners it's basically a 4 man team.

Best of 7 instead of best of 9, so teams aren't preparing snipers anymore or preparing for specific players, but rather just sending out their best players. Makes it more likely one player will just get into the zone and crush.

Its because, he hands down has the BEST TvP bar any Terran player in the game. Like, Bomber and Polt have good TvP, but ByuN's is on a completely higher level than even theirs.
I really hate Prime nowadays. Their fixation on using the same fucking four people every single team match is getting annoying. How many times do they need to lose before they allow one of their rookies a chance to make a name for themselves?
Teams have it so fucking easy against them. Never practice against Zerg. Focus all your efforts on vT and Creator. You always know the four players who are coming out, so you can have players specifically practice to snipe a certain player.

Don't actually think Byun is very far ahead, Ryung's CC was up earlier and has same tech, and those Banshees are not cheap. Just takes one engagement when Ryung's tanks get one or two shots off on the marines before Byun's do to even it up completely.

Byun played blinded He never know about the 4th and he always tried to siege from that one terrible position from about 10 min Basically he waste all the advantage for nth
That game was intense. Both tiptoeing with the storms, emps and such. Cranks 4th was uncontested for such a long time, being able to hold 3rd and banking from 4th at same time helped him so much. Also those zealots assaults to byuns third and potential fourth were really banking the game for Crank.
poor decision making in the late game by byun when he could have sent 2x medivacs and did a lot of damage to the 4th instead of being scared of 4 cannons + templar/ warp-ins then he stood near the natural choke for 15 mins on 3 base when there were 5 templars waiting to storm the hell out of ur whole army so he couldnt have went in for the kill not to mention forgetting to kill the pylon at the top right to stop the zealot harrass all game... lots of poor play by byun in the late game after some pretty decent multitask harrassment early on to gain a advantage
I do not understand why he keep on trying to build that CC next to his third and not float his main CC to the base down the cliff. He also really needed to take out that pylon above his third.

Too much ladder grinding for personal glory and too little preparation and team spirit. It all started with the modelling, when their vanity was awakened and from then on it all fell apart. Everyone is worried more about appearance than about busting their ass for the team. The addition of Barbie makes even more sense in getting the message out: We are the pretty hipster team, love us because we are the in-club, and if we fail it was someone else´s fall. Firing the coach would be a start and...
No I´m just kidding. Normally I´d say it was some kind of terran volatility at play, but with three kills from Ryung I´ll have to spare that one for their loss against the Incredible Protosses.

Their players are great, but I think they've had trouble with the HotS transition and they're particularly vulnerable the way they play in GSTL like Khaldor said. They just rely on the same 4 players over and over, they always play the same style, they don't usually go for sniper builds, so it's really easy to prepare for them. Just prepare for terran and that's 3/4 bases covered. MKP is easy to snipe b/c his greedy style is so predictable, and Creator's macro style has translated to HotS pretty badly, especially in PvT he seems lost. It seems like terrans always have the advantage in the lategame with vikings to snipe your colossi and ghosts to EMP and snipe your templar, whichever tech path you choose, they can hard counter it. And that's their 2 best players (although Byun appears to disagree.)

Unless you're CranK.
The thing about that style is that Terran are starting to get seriously overcommitted to the hard-counters and it's fucking them badly. How many times have you seen Terrans make the "perfect" comp, only to have it picked apart? Once they're lose either their Ghosts or their Vikings, the Protoss just rolls over them because they spent too much supply on specialist units and not enough on DPS and meat. That style relies on the Protoss getting a bad engagement, at which point you can kill them, but if the Protoss is playing defensively and picking you apart with runbys and warp-prism play, you are forced into a nasty engagement where the Protoss has the upper hand.
SC2 is not a game of hard-counters and if you play it like one, you will lose a lot.

I don't think terrans are overcommitted to hard counters, they hardly have a choice. If they don't hard counter they're fucked. I'm not sure hard counter is the right word, because it's not like an auto-win like mass mutas vs anion crystal. There are still lots of ways for protoss to win, it just makes it a lot harder when your tech gets countered.
The earlier game with Creator and Ryung was a good example. Creator went templar tech so Ryung countered with ghosts, got in the EMP and snipes right before the big engagement, and just destroyed Creator's deathball. Even Crank v Byun, Byun was getting ahead because he was so effective at sniping the templar. But when it came down to the big engagement, I don't know if Byun mismicro'd or what, but he didn't get one snipe off and Crank unleashed like a million storms and evaporated ~70 supply in a heartbeat. If Byun had been as on top of his snipe micro as he had during the whole game I think it would've been a very different outcome.
Wow Crank played so well against Byun! Excellent control throughout, though I'm surprised Byun didn't deal with that proxy pylon that gave him so much grief at his third.

Prime should be shit on for sending the same four players over and over. I don't care if they're by far your four best players. When a team knows who your four players are and know that you aren't even going to use a Zerg, they can have a player to snipe Creator and then focus solely on beating up Terran.
The other kids on Prime may be green as hell and get their ass kicked, but at least give them booth experience or give them a strategy to bust out. No one knows about these guys, and they could really be an ace up your sleeve with no one having information about them. If they aren't good enough to be brought out for GSTL, then kick them off the team or just put them as practice partners.
It might make a bit of sense if they had the four players going out and had all three races represented, but three Terran and a single Protoss? Jeez.

Yeah it seems like if you're sending your best possible lineup and still getting stomped, you might as well send some of your rookies into the booth because that experience is really invaluable. I guess I can't talk too much since I don't know Prime's situation at all, but it seems like strictly a terrible idea to use virtually the same lineup in every match for pretty much as long as I can remember. Hell, they had an almost identical lineup way back when they won GSTL, that's how long it's been. IMO Prime needs to prioritize training the new blood via booth experience, especially if their best possible lineup is already getting beaten (even by NSHS). The fact that Byun seems to be the only Prime player who handled the HotS transition well doesn't help much.

The problem I might see with putting other players, is that actually they do not have strategies to bust out. Look at the quartet which is playing over and over. 3 terrans have similar style of playing, there is no shred of preparation vs. a given team/opponent. They are soooooo predictable. If that is the line of practice the whole team is going with, then I cant see anyone getting sent out instead of the quartet because there is simply no point.

To be fair, opterown is acknowledged by team Prime as one of their publicists on teamliquid. So he's not just some totally random fan.
How the mighty have fallen. Still waiting for a GSTL team to get it together the way SlayerS did during their rise. It's amazing that Axiom can do so well with such a small line up, but I don't understand why teams aren't more motivated to prep B teamers to specifically snipe/cheese against certain players. Is GSTL too much of a sideshow with WCS?

It has almost always been, imo. The only times when it really was a good competition was, when you had a) a rising player that wants to prove himself and carries his team to victory (DRG before his rise to stardom being the prime example) b) you have the rare circumstance of a team really trying to win (SlayerS and FXO in the past).

IM took it seriously, not in terms of trying to win it, but in terms of trying to give their other players a chance to get more experience and exposure. Even though IM have done poorly for a while in team leagues, the experience that their other players got from it is why they have eventually produced champions such as First, Seed, YoDa and YongHwa and other strong players such as LosirA and Happy, instead of relying on Mvp and NesTea forever and eventually dying out.
Why the fuck would you put the player names in the recommended games section? The results of the first 5 games was spoiled when I opened the section to see if that day of GSTL was even worth watching.

Well maybe "not taking it seriously" is not the right way of calling it, but they have definitely lost a lot of games by simply fielding weak players. Yes, it's good to for those players to gain experience that way, but it does show that, in the short run, IM doesn't care about winning this league.

You also have to consider that Mvp and NesTea have both stated multiple times that they're uncomfortable playing in the GSTL, especially as the ace.

No need for the "full of shit". Taking a competition seriously = trying to win, not using it like training for your B teamers.

If you were Coach Kang, what would you rather have done: send out Mvp and NesTea and watch them not do very well because, as they said, they don't like being sent out in Team Leagues? Or send out the newbies to train and grow them for future televised matches?
People seem to think IM could've just sent out NesTea and all-killed everybody, but if you actually followed their interviews and matches you would know that's simply not the case. And other than just the players' and coach's words, you can look at their lifetime statistics for Team Leagues (compiled thanks to tlpd): Mvp is 12-12 and NesTea is 3-7. If they were closer to, say, 18-6 and 7-3, you may have had a point, but as it stands you really don't.

While it is laudable that they used GSTL to train rookies, and exposing them was certainly very successful (great fan of their line-up ), they still didn't take the competition as such seriously. A competition is trying to win. They did not try their best.

Read my post above.
I did, and it's "full of not so believable points". MVP and Nestea are pro gamers, acting as if they'd get panic attacks when they're fielded as aces is hard to believe. For me, it sounds more like that the team as a whole is not considering the league as something that is essential to win, which was the origianl point I was trying to make.

it was basically just their roster now plus B4. but either way, that speaks to my point. it's harder to win with fewer players. I'm sure Prime would like more players, but until they grow a money tree that's unlikely to happen.

Inaccurate, they also had Classic, Terius and Salmosa the former of which performed pretty well in Team Leagues.

it has nothing to do with post count. he does a lot for the scene at TL. it is a little dickish for one team owner to talk shit about another team, especially considering your team is in a similar situation. without the Acer partnership you'd be fielding 5 players to Prime's 4. that's just how it is. not every team is IM or SKT.
TotalBiscuit wasn't talking shit, he made a relatively innocuous joke.

Now, sure the results always are 4-0 or 4-0....i think it would be better to do a BO9 again. Right?
I'd honestly like to see a return to BO9 format. Problem is then Prime would have to send out the coach as an ace.
I personally don't consider it talking shit. Then again, I'm not a Prime fan that just saw his team get crushed, so I need to check my Axiom fan privilege. :p

And it wasn't even a bad thing. Jesus, same joke could be made about our team, we're really small and PRIME is honestly getting legit criticism right now for fielding the same 4 people which is making them easier to predict. It was not meant with any ill-intent, PRIME has 2 of my favorite terran players on it, but he chose to take offense and start a silly slap-fight regardless.
Pray-tell how did I over-react? Oh no, I joked around some more, man I sure must be butthurt over everything...
Maybe it's just a cultural difference, we like to take the piss and that's just something some of you are going to have to get over.
So then why all this over him calling you a dick? I think you're both great dudes (though you're the only one I've met in person at IPL5). Just seems funny to call out somebody on calling you a dick, but again, maybe that's just cultural differences.
Anyways, best of luck to both Prime and Axiom-Acer.

Truth. Parting had that in the bag. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a MKP/Prime fanboy fooling themselves.
Still would have lost to Creator and ByuN like the first time that season
Possibly, but MKP was at that time far and away Prime's ace player if I recall correctly. Either way, MKP should have hands down lost that match, and then Prime would have been in a far worse position.
