To be honest a good portion or even a majority of people said that the decision to not restart the game was okay in the Pandatank case. Also this was a much smaller case in terms of what could have happened, the complains basically centered around the fact that Pandatank could have skyped with someone who watches the stream and gains intelligence from him while they are reopening from replay.
In this case Mario lost the game and wants to rollback the game to a point where he didn't lose. Which is really hard to do in an online environment.
Just a bad situation overall.

It was also such a great series. Nony has a huge following but his bad play in game 1 and Mario's meching play made Mario somewhat of a fan favourite. It was the different-looking underdog versus old guard, the final match is tied 1-1 and it's all down to the last few seconds. And then splat, mechanical failure.
However this goes, and I feel I know already that Nony will get the win, Mario has made massive headway into stardom. And he definitely deserves it.

That is correct. But the admins could add both to their friendlist and would then see it if they watched it. Still people could message them on bnet/skype and whatnot so it's not optimal. I think Mario had bad luck here, you have to be strict in online tournaments.

How many people have actually noticed it? I know this is atleast the first time I see it. I don't think it should be a regame, but i think the menu button most certainly shouldn't effect the decision.

because you don't see if someone is watching a replay. They could rego from replay just fine. But technical failure is no excuse to do a rewind. And you can't forget that this decision now affects the whole tournament. As if they decide on a rewind, then every technical failure will result in it. Unless they leave the decision to Nony.
