Combination of HerO getting sniped (by a far lesser opponent) and questionable picks of Huk and Thorzain made this match be decided in the ace match really. And the match between herO[jOin] and Taeja is pretty even I think (since Taeja isn't the monster in TvP that he used to be).

All in all, gg wp and looking forward to seeing even better results from EG-TL.

excuses everywhere.

I fial to see the excuses. He is stating that Cj as a team was better this day. Better choices of players, better sniping. Thats not an excuse.

Also generally better players.

Agreed, CJ just get better players.

What ?! Bbyong is the real deal but others aren't good. EffOrt got a Code A Seed and lost. rare qualified but ends up losing to Hack. And herO isn't much better either. TaeJa and HerO are vastly superior to anyone in CJ.

The main difference between the 2 teams is that CJ has been doing PL for their whole career and are more than prepared for the situation. The format is very peculiar and the maps are unconventional.

hero is really good too, he has just failed in GSL so far

No ace for Finland either. Maybe it's Korean only.

Anyway, tough loss today. Glad Jaedong won though!

Tough loss, but I'm at least glad they put up a fight in the end and didn't get 4-0'd after going up 2-0. HerO lost in a similar way to how JYP did last week, just wasn't prepared for that early aggression even though he should've been. I can't believe so many people were doubting JYP on stream and forum. Dude is a zerg killer/sniper and former code-s player, not like he's a scrub or anything.

Anyway, good to see that a full EGTL team with heavy hitters can compete with the best of other proleague teams and that last week was more due to circumstances. Still waiting to see PuMa play. I think his aggressive play style will be really good in proleague. Also will be fun to watch as JD gets better and better at sc2. I enjoyed watching his win earlier today.

Some of these maps are weird as hell. Interesting to watch, but weird.

As for Zenio and Sea, Thorzain's just suffering from nerves and unfamiliarity with the map pool. He's a very deliberate player with every building placed more or less where he thinks it is best. He's also been sent out, in his weakest match up, twice, on completely new maps.

People seem surprised when BW players win on maps they're actually familiar with :p Put them on old converted WC3 maps and see how long they last against Thorzain and Grubby.

It's just nerves and jetlag for the first game but it's not the map pool.

First map Thorzain played in was Antiga Shipyard so I disagree. And as for Arkanoid, it was last played in 2007. SongDuri hasn't had games until 2011 and this is not BW. You can make an argument that they have coaches/players who can tell them about Arkanoid... but then EG-TL should have players/coaches that know that map too. If BW players who are non-veterans play well on these maps it's more a result of superior coaching staff.
Byun, best player in the world!

Still can not believe that TL-EG was #1 in the Power Rankings.

Cj Entus was #6 XD

EG-TL is probably 7th, right above team 8.

lol HerO and Taeja lost on two of the most conventional maps, zero cheese involved. And some could argue that if EffOrt didnt try some unit-testing build, he coulda won since JYP didnt look great either
My point is, none of us knows how good those KeSPA players are, now that they go 100% sc2. Meanwhile, you cant say that two foreign tourneys winners are better than every single one of the corporate teams.

yes well that preview article also said that flash has been terrible since switching to sc2, so take it with a grain of salt. I mean if they stop playing Huk and Thorzain, they might stand a chance. Need to go with all koreans+stephano imo.

Hero is hardly ace material given his shaky mindset. Taeja played pretty well too.

TaeJa is definitely the ace, I went to sleep after HerO got slowling busted cause I felt they were screwed. JYP pulled through....so very good job to him!! Ace looks highly recommended so I'll watch it, sad that TaeJa lost.

Erm, Taeja is now like 0-10 vs Protoss over the last month or so, i would of fancied my chances picking Hero as was 90% likely herO was going to be chosen as the CJ ace.

Opportunity missed here imo for EGTL to get some points on the board.

Yeah, that'll show them that foreigners can compete with koreans, by sending out all koreans ....

Also a TL article, written by TL staff, suggested TL were the best team? SHOCKER!

The last 2 years has shown us they can't. Korean vs Foreigner winrates get higher and higher every month.

Fionn curse too stronk. It's funny if you compare the preview and the actual results right now, but the season is long...

Well, there is a sound logic by which one could estimate that they were the best team in that preview. The "look at player names and ignore all else" logic.

However, you can only do so by ignoring the uniqueness of Proleague and the fact that only Sea, Puma and JD have ever played in such a competition before, and that out of all the EG and TL staff combined apart from the players, only Nazgul may have enough knowledge and understanding to lead a Proleague team (and he's not directly involved).

Don't worry the end is near.

*sigh*

I'm getting fed up of trying to dispell this myth, explaining basic calculus to a rock would actually be better.

But, Hwanni and Coach Park are more than capable of leading a ProLeague team, so your point is irrelevant.
