(the only other GSL finals thread i've made) 3/5 makes sense. It was an average final, with average ZvZ until game 7, which was nuts. Really? Even if it were not perfect games, it was a sight to behold 4/5 at minimum. No fucking way it was 4/5 minimum. 3/5 seems fair Also I have a problem with the GSL Tour Final having point decay. It's a final for the best players throughout the whole year. I don't think that a recent champion should have greater claim to a seed than someone who has been better all year long. if someone has been better all year long but worse recently, doesn't that make sense to have point decay?
i mean without point decay we'd value seed's win as much as sniper's, when sniper is clearly the better player atm. if you were truly good for the whole year, you'd place highly multiple times like DRG

Depends on the purpose of the tournament I suppose.
If it is a show tournament of the best players throughout the year, then yes Seed's win should be equal.
But if it is a tournament to decide "best player of the year right now" then yes there should be point decay.
Tbh I am more interested in the former, since pretty much all tournament winners are proclaimed "best player in the world" anyway -_-''

Gratz Sniper
I'm really glad they are going back to the long GSL seasons next year, didn't really enjoy much about this season at all apart from the great crowd/production we had.

Perfect games are much more boring than people realize. Parting's play on a good day vs Zerg can tell you a lot. That is why Squirtle Vs MvP had a lot to it. Not speaking of BO advantage which is pushed to the limit. Games where pros respect their opponents to a high degree usually have some mistakes in it. Pretty bold argument, i know.

Pretty bold argument, i know. Nah it's logical. I mean it's why I love Polt so much, he seems to somehow force games down to an imperfect level. I don't mean its down a level in terms of skill, but it fits with Polt's reputation as a scrappy player with tons of heart and the ability to make staggering comebacks. The 'Polt effect' is beautiful, because for some reason Polt doesn't just play in his own bar-brawler-esque style, but his opponents start doing that as well. I have no idea why this is, perhaps he has some kind of mind ray.
Compare, in boxing Arturo Gatti vs Micky Ward, to most of Floyd Mayweather's biggest fights. The latter is more technically refined and 'correct' boxing, the former is the better spectacle for the neutral spectator.
Consider many football matches that go down in folklore. Many of them are matches with a scoreline like 4-3, which is a clear indicator of bad defending as much as it is about good attacking.

Yeah, but Starcraft 2 series are always more games.

ive been a sniper fan for a while now. You hurt my feelings.

Ok so not including the GSL grand tour thing, stats for this year
Zerg in GSL finals - 4 Protoss in GSL finals - 4 Terran in GSL finals - 2
Zerg GSL champions this year - 3 Protoss GSL champions this year - 1 Terran GSL champions this year - 1
Mvp is the only Terran player to make a GSL finals, Zerg and Protoss were represented by a different player every time.

Lack of fan favourites aside, the overall quality of games was terrible compared previous seasons.
