If Parting's army had been at home or engaged polt's main force in a decent position then it wouldn't have been clear cut that he'd have lost. BO win should be reserved for extremely clear cut cases, like building DT:s against someone with no detection. Otherwise the meaning of that term will just be entirely void and be used for people who win with fast three gate pressure against FE. That was clearcut. That build was designed to bring a mass of units against a no tech protoss. Parting is famous for the 3nex build. Had Polt been at home Polt would have defended with ease. Had Parting been at home he would have defended with ease too since he was going mass units too. That means there no BO win either way.
Polt got the better end of the "base trade" scenario though because of CCs being liftable. And thus being able to salvage the situation. Plus parting commited too much to getting up the ramp at Polts base. Leave a few sentries there, contain Polt in his main (cant get out with no medievacs), go home with the rest and clean up your base would likely won him the game. Nothing BO win with that.

He outstrategized him.
which in a rtS is fundamentally different of outplaying.

I feel like I don't have any clue how it's going to play out, so much inconsistency all around. Yes it is pretty disappointing. Hopefully HotS makes it more possible for players to stay a step above others so we actually have people consistently getting ro4s. This year every season has been like an entirely new ro4. Only like MVP and DRG have got 2 ro4s. At least we get some variation.. Please let's not make it like Tennis with every god damn grand slam having the same 4 players in the RO4 for the past 5 years..

Semi-basetrade but parting failed to break polt, so he had to go home and try and clean up. Killed polt's army but lost natural. Then polt moved out and killed parting.
Game 2 polt had a scouted 11/11 rax, built an ebay at parting's natural and went home. Expanded (before parting), bunkered up, teched, took a third, then managed to deny parting's third and his eco advantage and partings subpar (for parting) micro built up to a big supply advantage for polt, which he used to win the game.

btw thanks Fionn for your prediction against Polt <3
